Alrighty...just got a new system put together, and am curious about find some internal USB3 cables that plug into the header. I have an older ATCS-101 Coolermaster with old school USB plugs on the front...luckily the are mounted to a nice aluminum frame and the cables are just a pair of USB extension plugs on one end with sort of flush monuted plastic sides that allow them to screwed into the case. The other end is your standard USB2 header...

What I am looking for is something similar on the USB3 Front.....anyone ever see internal header cables? Can't seem to find any with a quick search around? How deep do you have to dig?

Have you checked case manufacturers? I know Lian Li has front plugs that are 3.0, so maybe they sell something under spare parts/accessories.

This is what I am looking for.

Yea I'm wondering the same. Interested in the Fractal R3, but it has 2xUSB2 and 1xesata only.

Its not really going to happen and its not the case manufacturers fault. There is no spec for internal headers for USB 3 so all of the internal headers on the motherboards are still USB2. There are a few case manufacturers basically using USB3 extension cables to run through the case to the back USB3 ports on a motherboard. The closest you might come is finding an addon card with am internal USB3 connector and running a similar cable to it.

Actually there is a finalized spec of USB3.0 internal header. Some of the hot of the press cases now have them. The new budget Silverstone Milo ML03 HTPC case with the new internal header springs to mind.

USB 3.0 header (pic is from the un-released Silverstone TJ08-E)

The header is around twice the size and pin count of USB 2.0 headers.

In that case I still don't know of a motherboard manufacturer who has included it on their boards.

ASUS has this on several SB mobos. I have one on mine...been looking for a good case that used it, but there don't appear to be any out yet (based on my search, which I don't guarantee to be exhaustive).

Yep the new Sandy Bridge boards seem to have them, I'm sure we will see more in the coming months.

Ah well probably didn't notice it because I haven't really paid any attention as I was waiting till BD comes out to compare features and performance before my next upgrade.

Well in that case, I will have to answer the OP with, apparently the two ends exists but I haven't seen anyone selling a modular connector like that for USB3 yet.

Yup those are the plugs on my new SB gigabyte UD4. There is Chinese site (lotes.cc) that has an entire catalog....but they don't appear to sell to end users...

SOooo....close...but screw holes on the wrong side for the given cutouts on my case...i need each port to be on it's own end...

Getting there...but's only a single socket...

Having the exact same Problem: Fractal Design R3 with Gigabyte P67A-UD4 and looking for some internal cable to replace the USB2 ports on the Fractal...

Could not find any ebay listings either, do you know whether this lotes.cc guys sell to end-users (specifically to germany...) ?

Gigabyte's Killer series of x58a boards have USB 3.0 internal headers, and come with a 3.5" bay device with 2 x USB 3.0 ports on it.

I actually took the bay off the ports and am using it tucked in my case, connected to a case's front USB 3.0 ports using the standard 'external' USB connection.

I have contacted the german site of Fractal Design in Hamburg and they will release an USB3.0 kit for the Design R3 Cases on end of april/beginning of may.

I have also contacted Lotes, their reply:
Hi Kai,

Thanks for your inquiry.

Our MOQ for item ABA-USB-064-K01 is 250pcs/ctn,the gross weight is 11kg,the freight need to check
from your side.

Any questions, please let us know it.

Thanks & Regards

This is where I'm getting mine from. They've told me it will be three weeks. Bit steep around a tenner though.

I believe those huge tacky (and also quite awesome) child-like Gigabyte G1-Killer series X58 motherboards have them too...

I contacted Cooler Master about this since I was reading around the net that they were issuing free USB 3.0 motherboard headers. Within two weeks my USB headers arrived in the mail. My case is a HAF X.

This might have been a mistake on their part for sending two cables in two separate envelops, but I'm not complaining. :)

Try contacting your case manufacturer.

I found on OC forums that CM is giving free USB 3.0 internal adapters to those who have a HAF X (with USB 3.0 external only). It looks like owners will have to fill out a parts request, provide proof of ownership and serial number and CM will ship the parts. I've seen the latest HAF X in microcenter stores and they have the USB 3.0 internal header only instead of USB 3.0 external. I have the original version as I bought it like 4 weeks after they released it.

Its a nice thing to do for free, since the USB 3.0 cables are expensive.
