I'm torn... PS3 or 360?

Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Pixel Junk Monsters, Pixel Junk Eden, Gran Turismo 5p, DMC 4, Lost Planet, Metal Gear Solid 4 and one other that is slipping my mind right now.

Oh, and I am on the SOCOM beta.

Vegas 2 will have to be dusted down then.

I tried to add you as I got your request, but it said the request was already canceled?!?

Get both. They are so freakin cheap these days.

That way you get the Blu-ray and you won't miss out on exclusives.

Nope still waiting, goto the actual request on your friends list, triangle, reply and it'll add.

I got the notification, then I went to my messages, saw TigerBladeUK, and it said you wanted to add me. I clicked to accept the invite and it said to the effect of "this person has canceled the request".

I will look again when I get home, otherwise I will just try to request you since I have your PSN tag now.

I made the mistake of selling my 360 Elite to buy a PS3 60GB from my friend. No games real good games came out in 6 month's while I had it. Finally, Metal Gear 4 came out and I got excited to finally use my PS3. I had every title of the series all the way back to the rare MSX cartridge. But I was let down a little by the latest title. I gues I was expecting more. So I thought about it and sold my PS3 60GB (actually made more money than what I paid for it from my friend). I haven't regret it one bit now.

So since buying another 360, the 60GB edition, I have enjoyed the all the new XBLA games, Tiger Woods 09, NHL 09 (my first NHL game in six years) and Civ Rev. I know that the PS3 has the same retail games but those XBLA games are addictive for me. I never played the PS3 as much. Could careless about the Blu-Ray since it cost me so much more out of my pocket for expensive movies on those disc's.

I just want something that I get the most value out of, not the least.

I was wondering what consol i should get as well.

Like should i get the $199 version of xbox or the $299????

If you read and post on this message board you are probably going to want a hard drive at some time. If you are willing to get a used hard drive on ebay you can get a larger120GB hard drive for about $75 shipped now. You'll get an extra memory card that way, but you will miss out on the headset and the official brand component cables for about $25 less than the cost of the 60GB version. If you actually order the arcade now from Amazon you can get a free game as well (Lego Batman).

okay its better off getting the xbox pro. for that extra $100 over the arcade you get so much more.

So right out of the box i can play online? and can it be wireless? I dont want to have to run a cable to my router if i dont have too.. (thanks for your help gents ;) )

You get a month (I think) xbox live gold... and yeah, it can be wireless, but you'll need to either use a wireless bridge, custom firmware router (something like the WRT54GL) or buy the ludicrously overpriced wireless adaptor.

Upon surfing on the Best Buy website today for shits and giggles, I discovered much to my amazement that the 20GB 360's are being sold at a clearance price of 199.99$. So I picked one up. Looking at the box, I feared that there was no HDMI output, as it wasn't advertised on the box, but it turns out that there is! Best 200$ I spent in a long time! Needless to say, I now own both a PS3 and a 360. :D

lol so it turns out you get both of them after all. i'm too cheap for that since both systems contain 95% of the same games.

I suggest to go with a PS3 if
1) You already own a capable PC. Some of the "exclusive" XBOX360 games are also available (with or without delay) on the PC (gears of war, Mass Effect,...).
and/or
2) You already own or plan to buy a HDTV. The PS3 is a much better multimedia center (blu-ray support, more silent, upscaling) then the XBOX 360.
and/or
3) You do not mind paying a little more for the console.

Otherwise, go with the XBOX 360.

Not all 360 exclusives are on the PC, including the upcoming Gears of War 2. The PS3 is NOT a better multimedia center, though it does have BD, and it doesn't have better upscaling).

I'd have thought having BRD would technically make it better as a media centre by default. :)

my thoughts exactly along with an internet browser and the new digital tv add on here in the uk. When it comes to dedicated multimedia center i dont think the PS3 can be beaten.

Nah. The Xbox 360 has been been a digital HD media powerhouse for years now. We can record/ff/rewind SD and HD TV shows on the 360 on the Media Center Extender blade. Been doing that since day one. Browsing the web on the 360? Again, been doing that for years, and in the same media center extender blade.

Built in support for streaming online radio playlists and video playlists? Xbox 360 has been doing that since day one, with no needed software add-on.

What your trying to say is the 360 has to rely on another machine to do most of what you said instead of being able to do it right out of the box.
So TV on 360: you have to rely on a media center extender/another machine/pc
Surfing the net: again relying on another computer/ extender/hacks.
Full HD Movies?: Nope!
Relying on other machines does not make it a better media hub!

PS3 can't DVR out of the box. Not to a PC, not to PlayTV. When getting PlayTV (only available in Europe), you must spend another $100 for that add on.

I can't stream internet music or internet tv shows/movies to the PS3 XMB without relying on a PC.

Surfing the net on the 360 doesn't require a hack. It only requires you to be connected to Windows Media Center on a network (which most PCs are sold with today).

Full HD movies on the 360? Yup.

Having the only advantage of having a Blu-ray player doesn't make it a better media hub! 90+% of the world doesn't even have an HDTV, lol!

You might want to check your facts about that one again, the PS3 is one of the best upscalers on the market, the 360 is in fact one of the worst. Just browse some Audio/video sites and I'll bet you my soul 90% will vote for PS3 for upscaling.

The 360 is known for a loud drive and shitty upscalling in the dvd market, for awhile now cuz I can turn both of mind on and the 360 drowns out my PS3 in about .5 seconds.;)

360 DOESNT have a web browser. where did you get that from, that you can surf the net on a 360.

you cant stream stuff on the 360 without a pc either as far as i know.

My own visual tests on the xbox and the ps3 reveal that the upscalers on both are shit. I thought the ps3 would be better, as I have it connected through HDMI, and it's just as bad as the 360. Sad, sad upscaling.

Just get a DreamCast :)

I don't even know why you people are still debating, the OP already picked up his console. Sadly, next week, someone else will pop up another one of these threads. "Please, help me choose a console because I don't know how to make up my own mind."
