Ikea desk gallery

Yeah keep a look out at Best Buy. I work in the back and I've been seeing a lot of new audio products coming in that wont be displayed or sold for a few weeks. SOme really nice new Klipsch stuff

Hrm, anyone know what these things are that came with my Galant? Small pieces of plastic with double-sided foam tape on one side. Look almost like they'd be used to hold a wire to the desk or something.

While I'm here, my desk in its current state:

And, for giggles, my 'heavily used' signum. :p Yes, this picture makes me cringe a little too, but that's the point, I guess. The fact that it's never seen unless specifically looking under the desk, and even then it's poorly lit unless one's taking a picture with flash. It also makes me realize how badly I need a good UPS.

Holding the wires from both monitors and the computer, the 5.1 HTIB system, perhipherals, and two consoles. I plan to get another next time I'm up at Ikea. It'll also hold that router (which functions as my wireless bridge) that can be seen in the back corner. While I'm up there I'm going to pick up a Lack shelf to go above the speakers that can be noticed just out of frame on that desk shot. I'll grab some wiremate covering to take care of the wires and toss some bullet lights underneath. Also need to snag some braided cable wraps to make the wires going to my subwoofer look a little less conspicuous. The list goes on . . . >_< It's a work in progress.

I just got this desk about a month ago, but quickly realized I needed more space...

This is not the color I wanted, but I got it for a steal, so I'm going to just deal with it...It has plenty of room to add my work dual monitor setup on the left side and then I'm moving my tv to the shelf in between the speakers.

Here's the current version-added some under desk drawer units, brought the 42" in the bedroom to make room for the 50" G10 in the living room :D, and brought in the 360, now I just need another video card to run the 21" monitor...... version 3

They hold the leg adjustment allen wrenches to the leg.

Whelp I ended up spending $65 x 2 swivel shelves for my Jerker. And UPS tells me they shipped it to Amazon... The guy tells me I have to contact the shipper and have him file a tracer on the package. I have no idea what that would do for me, but I emailed the guy.

Anybody work for UPS who can pull some strings or do something with my tracking number?

I'm not Matt Greene, never met him before.

That kinda depresses me. I hope I eventually see them for the price I payed for them.

I also bought a second Jerker from Craigslist in New York, payed an arm to ship it. It should arrive at my college tomorrow sometime through FedEx. I will be re-purposing it as a shelf to hold my computer up off the ground.

I may also put rack rails on it and make the shelf 19" wide. If I bolt the whole thing to the side of this one I can use the second leg on the other side for a whole rack, about 23U or so I believe. Just need some rackmount hardware. Minor detail really >:)

I might have a Galant for sale in November. Columbus, Ohio. 63 x 31. Birch color.

That would be sweet if they had a sub that matched the design of the speakers... I'd buy it :D

When I was using my old Jerker desk, I actually had my monitor on one of the shelves to raise it up... worked pretty well. Well actually here's what it looked like...

lolwut?

I could not find this being addressed in the thread before, so I am sorry if I am asking a common question:

What would you consider a fair price for a used, but very good condition 'Jerker' to be?
Is ~$80-$90 fair? I swear I saw it sold for ~$100 new? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

just the desk is good shape, 75$ max. I paid 100$ for my black jerker but it also came with 2 swinging shelfs, 2 magazine holders, and an extra long shelf with extenders.

It does depend on the area you live and how often they pop up forsale. I picked a basic black one up for my mother for 40$ at a yardsale. It did have a shortened desktop though.

I never even saw this thread before but I'm thinking of moving to a galant, as my current "I have no idea who made this desk" is getting old in age and the laminated corners are starting to wear down, exposing the high quality pressed board underneath ;)

A couple of questions tho:

For the Galant desks, how stable is the L style setup? Are we talking small bump and the whole thing shakes (like my current setup), or relatively solid.

Second question is monitor mounts. I run two monitors and really have no idea what to shoot for. One is a 2407 and the other is a 2209WA, both Dell's. If I was to go with the Galant, are there any good single or dual mount monitor mounts that people have experience with?

Thanks much, and some good looking setups here.

Thanks for the help:
This is the natural wood/silver version, and comes w/ 2 swinging shelf's. It will be picked up ~40mins away.

It would be nice if I could get it for ~$60 to $80, they want $125 which I would not even consider.

I've bought quite a few for myself and friends. Around 3 yrs ago, they were going for around $75 in LA. Now, you can typically find them for around $50, but there are still dreamers trying to get over $75 for them. :p I've bought 2 recently for $40 each, but they didn't come with any accessories. =\

i just bought my jerker for $50 with 2 attachments. i had to get my friend to get it for me since UT hasnt started back up yet for me so its waiting for me in austin. will post pics when i move up next weekend.

i recently sold a original style jerker desk for 120. i paid 45 for it originally :D

I don't care about the cords like I used to. This is 100% functional and as long the cords out of my leg space... I'm happy.

 ....... i think i'll stay out of all credit card company buildings for awhile... in case any of you ikea boys starts up project mayhem or somethin :p

The people I know who used to sit in the bathroom with pornography, now they sit in the bathroom with their IKEA furniture catalogue.

You buy furniture. You tell yourself, this is the last sofa I will ever need in my life. Buy the sofa, then for a couple years you're satisfied that no matter what goes wrong, at least you've got your sofa issue handled. Then the right set of dishes. Then the perfect bed. The drapes. The rug. Then you're trapped in your lovely nest, and the things you used to own, now they own you.

sorry.. i've watched the movie like 4 times in the last week.

on an on topic note. . . soyo13. . . isn't 40 inches too big for that close? it seems like things would not be very clear sitting that close. . maybe i'm wrong? also it looks like you could use a nice big galant :p

Just recently moved into a much larger apartment, first order of business was getting a new desk :D

Just finished setting it up yesterday, still need to build a custom extension for the hole in the corner and decide where to put my PC before attaching wire guides etc.

I like your big Galant setup!! What's the name of that triangle-shaped mobile cart that holds your big PC case? I've been looking EVERYWHERE for something like that.

Pretty stable. I had a corner Galant that gave me no trouble. I had T legs and no other extensions. No idea about mounts, I used ammo boxes.

(had to sell it to move, bought a Jerker out west)

Why did you put all 5 speakers up front? This kind of defeats the purpose of getting a 5.1 setup.

i think he's still in the process of moving/unpacking as he said he's moved to a new place.. :)
