This post is a rant.
So.
I watched the 1080 announcement live. I was excited to hear about the newest gen having some optimizations for VR and was looking forward to throwing down some money for a 1080 once it became available with a quieter fancy after-market stock cooler... which was promised to be available soon after the press release.
They still aren't available. At least, not really. 1070? Sure. It's somewhat available, but that feels awfully bait and switchy.
Been trying to get either the Gigabyte Geforce 1080 Xtreme or Asus Geforce 1080 OC Strix since I heard about them. I've been checking two or three times most days to buy either one. I'm currently on a pre-order list with CDW (of all places) for the Asus that went live maybe a week ago.
Today, I was thrilled to see the Asus on sale on Newegg for a cheaper price point. I immediately added it to my cart and tried to buy it, only to find out that an item had been removed from my cart due to availability (guess which item!).
At this point, I really wish I could collectively punch NVIDIA in the face. I'm really really sick of paper launches. My build was massively delayed and numerous compromises have been made in order to make a computer close to capable of what I wanted. Companies promising to have widespread availability only to see that not be the case over a month and a half later is immensely frustrating.
I really wish these companies would stop with these BS marketing maneuvers and just hold off to sell the product until they can actually, yah know... SELL THE FRIGGIN PRODUCT.
So, for any of my fellow nerds out there who work for NVIDIA or know someone who works at NVIDIA, please feel free to at least give them shit for me. It would be appreciated.
