Yes Sir, I'll get right on that ...

"you know Ive been meaning to get myself an antistatic beadspread"

Do they really make one.... I want it, only if it has blue neons or UV lights incorporated in it somehow :p

I don't think I'd bother now that you all ready have everything and it's all running but I would have only been about $150 or so more for a Opteron 165 1.8Ghz dual core over the Sandy. You'll probably be fine with a single core but it looked like you went all out on the rest of the system like the dual 7800gtx's and then skimped a little on cpu.

Why in God's name are you holding that 3700+ back?!?! Only 2.6GHz? Get it to 2.8 and then we'll talk

You know when I 1st started this build I was going kinda on a budget, but that soon flew out the window when I decided to get (2) 7800's, I've allways had my mind set on getting a 3700 and not a dual core, I have talked with 2 guys on my squad about there dual core chips and you know it doesn't sound like its worth the extra money right now.

Can someone tell me a few reason's in spending a extra $100 to get a X2 3800 AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Dual Core Processor instead of what I'm running right now.
There is no reason. You are clearly all about gaming and your 3700+ San Deigo is going to blow any of the low end dual cores away in gaming.

Like Bona Fide said though, you need to bring that thing up a notch! I just got done building a 3700+ based gaming rig that was able to run stable at 2.6 with stock HSF and no over the top cooling from the case. Given a little help (and you clearly got it), those chips hit 2.7/8 no problem.

I love the rig and the room setup. A true gamers paradise. You do need to invest in a decent work bench though, if not for the elctric static, at least for the ease of building :) A nice high top bench really speeds a build up for me.

I'm at work right now so I cant post any SS, but last night I was running stable at 2.78Ghz, I had to increase the voltage it was at 1.46v and I boosted it to 1.62v. My memory timings are 2.5-3-3-6 I believe(kinda drunk last night will doing this), I'm using the Corsair XMS 3200 2-2-2-5 memory @3.4v that was in my old setup, should I sell that and get some different memory that can handle a higher frequency? What will help me get a higher OC?

Can you guys with similar setups recomend some timings and voltage increases that you are using. I'd hate to hafta drive to Fry's Electronics and wait in line to replace my CPU :p

:edit: these number may be off I will check when I get home

Your voltages are pretty, erm, high. You shouldn't need to go much above 1.5 on the cpu or 2.75 on the memory to achieve those speeds with a 3700+ San Deigo. Also, 2.78 is pretty great so I would just strive to decrease stress with those voltages.

This might be a good topic for the Overclocking forums though.

must have used a fabric softener to get rid of that static cling...lol

Whichever fan size you decide on, I think you should stick with the 3.5 bay controller. Stay consistant. A 120 would be cool too, but how many people have 3 80's mounted just for their graphics gooling?

That computer is amazing... I'm at school right now, paying for my own tuition with the money I saved from Day 1 on Earth... Hopefully I'll score some degree and have 2g's to build a computer with.. :D

I think everyone's just a little jealous of your kickass setup...

your neigbors must hate you! (you know with your porn blasting on 10...hehehe)

btw, i'm a network admin as well. I spend mad money on my toys too, but I earned it like you. (glad I don't have to eat top ramin anymore!). :D

or do you really think semiconductor fabs spend millions of dollars on ESD precautions just for kicks? :p

but then you didnt really read those links now did you? :p
kill and damage being two different but interrelated phenomena
merely a question of scale or time

I am sure I have damaged something in some way. I do realize how much precaution manufacturers use (I have seen more than one). Some day Ill learn.... I know it IS a matter of time. What I really need is a good work table, and maybe some grounding pads. THat way if I work off of them, use a wrist strap, and ground the pad and myself of course I should GREATLY reduce my chances of ESD-ing something.

PS. I have read those links.... a little while back however :p

In regards to the speaker specs here they are ....

dscn44912rz3cp.jpg

  • $500 for the VTF-3 MK 2 12" 700watt HSU Subwoofer that I have set to play at 20hz
  • $480 for the Harmon Kardon AVR 430 7.1 910watt Receiver
  • $120 for (4) JBL E20 Northridge series Speakers that are used for Left and Right Fronts and Rears.
  • $100 for the Infinity Primus C25 Center Channel Speaker

Total Cost for sound system is $1200.

The 12" sub is my pride and joy of the entire sound system, when playing at 20hz near 3'4 power it draws soo much power I had to run an extension cord from another room that is on a seperate breaker to prevent the breaker to flip thats for my room :p

This Sub was the Stereophile Guide to Home Theater 2003 Editor's Choice Gold Award Winner pretty much that means it OWNS!

I have actually cracked the wall in my room with this sound system due to the xtreme SPL of this setup.

God that all looks amazing man. I think I'll eventually need to pick up a soundcard to power my JBL / Yamaha setup, cause for now, they aren't connected to me setup. How's that sound Card Perform? I wanna get something that'll sound good, as well :)

Having not ever owning a hi-end soundcard before I was very, very impressed with X-Fi technology compared to on-board sound that I have used in the past. Having The Sennheiser HD595's headphones hooked up to this card with 24 bit Cystalizer @ 75% and CMSS enabled, playing COD2 is incredable. You can trace people threw walls just by using hearing there footsteps. Many times Ive been called out for hacking and all I do is respond with " X-Fi " I play COD2 with music playing on winamp @ 10% volume and have COD2 with EAX 3 enabled @ about 75% volume. Its an amazing gaming experience. The signal that it sends to the Harmon Kardon reciever is better then the signal that my optical out DVD player is sending to it.

Here is my newest 3dmark03 score, I had my 13,000 BTU roaring tonight had room temps down to about 61 and had 54 deg air going directly into front 120mm fan.

My old score was 29,753 and the new is 30,293 with the additional cooling...

Thanks Guys!

I downloaded StyleXP applied the theme then removed stylexp from startup in msconfig, so I'm guessing it jsut added a few registry entries to keep the theme active.

how do you have that 80mm fan attached? zip ties? i can't see it from the angles shown.

you get that Ninja yet?

Yeah. For future reference, you do know even an electrostatic shock that you can't hear can be fatal to you components right? And also, even if a component doesnt fail immediately (which in most cases they don't) it can reduce the life of the component, or cause another failure in the future. A lot more component deaths are due to ESD than you would think and you just don't know it. So just because you can't hear or see a shock doesn't mean that your 400$+ pieces are safe.

I know, I have a hardwood table now to build on. I have instant replacement planes on everything and have ways of getting anything in my setup replaced for free, but I wont go into to much detail for that :D

Here's a few updated pic's and some info on my new G15 keyboard that I got...

Here some of the features that I like the most and currently have setup on my G15's LCD....

Teamspeak - shows you who joined, left, is in the server/channel, and who is talking.
Ventrilo - shows you who joined, left, is in the server/channel, and who is talking.
Time & Date - allows you to view time and date, also shows you new email
Performance - temps for cpu and gpu, mem usage, fan speed, etc.
Net Usage - network bandwidth meter
Media Control - scrolls song title and artist info, lets you change tracks when in game, no more alt+tab!
Fraps - shows you current fps with peak and history

The keyboard also has a 2port USB hub built in it and 54 programable buttons.

Here's some info on how to customize the LCD...

Here is my desk, I just serviced my 13,000 BTU AC Unit to get ready for summer and made a custom window kit to exhaust the hot air. I still need to paint it black, but you get the idea....

To cool the PC when doing hella overclocking what I do is just turn the fins to the right and then open the front of the case and the air gets sucked right in with the 120mm 80cfm fan and 80mm 45cfm fan. I can keep my room around 62 deg with this unit.
