I finally bought an SSD. A Kingston Now V+200 120GB SATA3. Which isn't a performer king, but at 80 euros i couldn't pass on it.

The PC is going too fast! I feel like things are going to fast! I click and things like fly! I had 2 SATAII HDDs, but this is totally different! I reinstalled Windows and it was over before i knew it! I am installing programs and they just zaaaaap. I got 7,9 at Windows Exp Index.

I don't know if i will be able to keep this. As i try to install back all my programs, i feel like i am doing too much things in short time, it's like i am having a heart attack. :p

For those who still resist: Forget about "CPU upgrades". Buy SSD!
 
Hey, I just got the same drive, except the 240 GB version. Looks like yours uses Intel synchronous NAND operating in asynchronous mode - it could have a longer life than my 240 GB one.

Anyways, I ran a benchmark with HD Tune if you're interested (I know, not the best SSD benchmark, but it's what I had on hand for a quick look). I'll put those screenshots at the bottom of this post. Compared to my old mechanical hard drive, the difference is out of this world! I found the drive for really cheap ($130 for 240GB), and at first I was worried because benchmarks all over the 'net showed the drive as only half as fast as enthusiast synchronous or toggle drives. But as far as I'm concerned, the real world difference between this drive (or any SSD for that matter) and a spinner is so huge, just making the switch in general is a good decision. I think just the drive access times make the biggest difference.

As far as the step function response on the SSD, I can't explain it... maybe Windows was accessing something during those times which is why it's about half of full speed?
 
Yeah there is no way to go back to a regular drive. In fact, what sucks is when you go to fix somebody elses computer and they dont have an SSD.....Your waiting forever for it to load. :D

I don't use HD Tune (i have CrystalDisk Mark, but haven't run it yet), but i 've done images with Macrium and while with the HDD i was getting 220mb-s max, now i was getting 358 and mind you, it was reading from the SSD and writing to an HDD.

I thought that it would be slower for that price and i had also read reviews about "asyncronous"= slower, but i am VERY satisfied.
 
ya, once you go black you never go back. until ssd came along and beat the wd black hdd.

If you're running tests on your O/S drive then whatd'ya expect :) Not really a true benchmark when its having to contend with other processes accessing it. Can't blame HDTune for "not being a good SSD bench"... HDTune in fact is just fine when used properly.

Ok, yeah, thanks for confirming my suspicions. The only reason I say HD Tune is not the best SSD benchmark is because I haven't seen others use it before... most of the benchmarks I see are with CrystalDisk Mark.
