I can't wait for OLED monitors

first off thats flaming, second i dont care about the "facts" ive seen the damn things up close and personal several times in my life and i dont fucking like them...OK!

He's not flaming dude. He just want you to back up your statements with evidence.

E.g, pictures? Pictures would really help validate your "Plasmas = crap" argument.

Side by side comparison? Is there literature out there that supports your argument?
Otherwise, just saying that all plasmas are crap, basing it solely on an experience at Best Buy, is not going to be enough on this forum.

calling me ignorant is flaming...
What another great demonstration of your ignorance.
and frankly bro plasma screens ghost like a mother fucker and they look all blocky and shit...I DONT LIKE THEM, i dont give a fuck how much better the "specs" are they are two completly different technolgies its hard to compare them by "specs", (its like saying a 500mhz 6600gt is faster than a 350mhz 6800gt) the only way to compare them is by actually seeing them next to each other playing off the same feed; guess what best buy is a great place to do this.

EDIT: "not good enough for this forum"...grow up bro

actually oled's arent that good about lastin either the blue organic material has a max operating life of only 5000 hours. I personally think the future belongs to NED's

"In May 2005 Cambridge Display Technology announced a blue OLED with a lifetime of over 100,000 hours."

According to Wikipedia.

Though it will probably be difficult to reproduce. I mean, a huge breakthrough like that?

I dont care what will be best, as long as I'll have it. We can't know for sure until they are matured products. All of these things have the potential to be great (except for Plasma, haha. I really do hate looking at those too, cell)

Calling you ignorant is NOT flaming. It is stating a simple fact. You admittedly ignore the facts. Therefore you are ignorant. It's not like I went into a cursing fit or called you any names.

I don't know what plasmas you've been viewing but the ones I've viewed don't ghost.

Quit raping the English language. I am not your brother so stop calling me bro.

SEDs are nice, but again, they are not that reliable. This is because they are still based on a phosphor layer. Electrons hit the layer and make it glow. That phosphor breaks down over time, and breaks down with use. Why the hell do you think people invented screen-savers? Not to have somthing to look at, but to save the screen. Without them you get "used up" or burnt out places. I don't know about you, but plasma, CRT, and SED are all fundamentally flawed in that using them 24/7 causes them to break fairly quickly. Not somthing I want to spend my $4000 on and put in the family room. I want a TV/Monitor that will last.

SEDs solve the flicker problem, they are smaller, and they have a better picture than CRTs. That's a good thing. They aren't a fix for all the problems though, because you still have a large electron gun pumping electrons into your face, and they are still phosphor based which means they can "burn" and they don't last long.

OLEDs are the best out there. The big advantage? They are like any LED and last almost forever. There is no gas to escape or break down, no phosphor layer to "burn" and use up. Oooh! Guess what else? Since they are organic (read polymer, read plastic-like), they can bend and be flexible. In the future, imagine OLED displays you can roll up when you're done with them. OLEDs do not emit electron streams at your head. Like any LED, the only thing that is shot out is light. Also, unlike CRTs, OLEDs do not need to "refresh" and there isn't any flicker. OLEDs really are the way of the future.
First off, LCD's have a very very shitty contrast ratio which gives rise to poor blacks and a generally sub-par range and accuracy of colour. And the phosphors used can last a very long time. I have a CRT monitor from 1991 that is still in proper working order. That's almost 15 years ago, and the phosphors in that monitor haven't burnt out yet. This issue you consider of "burning phosphors" is irrelevant. I see that you've said this only becomes an issue when you leave it on 24/7 every day. However, that is why the good people that make monitors have implemented technologies called screensavers, sleep timers, and an off button. All it takes is setting up your power management of your computer, and turning the monitor off at night.

You are correct about the OLEDs in the respect that they don't shoot an electron beam at you creating gamma rays, etc. However you are wrong when you sayd OLEDs last forever. The green and red sections are alright and last a good amount of time, but as someone already pointed out the blue section still needs work. OLEDs might be the way of the future, I guess we'll have to see.

Yeah, but the radiation that makes it through the front of the tube is less than the background radiation left over from the big bang. :D
