My birthday is in less than a month and I'm concidering buying an ASUS Physx, but right now theres only AGP and PCI...
Is it likely it will be out in a month or two?

Also, a small Q:
1.Does Physx assist in games that don't really support it? Like in CS:S and the like? Will I see a performance increase?
2. Will there be any of a performance increase for the PCIE version over PCI?
 
Maybe a performance increase on PCI-E over PCI, but it doesn't do anything for any games but a handful, nada, zip, zero.

Even the games that do support it don't use it's max potential.

Your choice, however.
 
If the game doesn't support it, you won't see a difference AFAIK.

From what I heard, the PCIe and PCI versions are identical in performance. It's just a matter of what bus they are on.

Right now, I'd save the $150 and put it towards something more useful (IMO).
 
I don't think there are any AGP versions, because I can't think of 1 motherboard with 2 AGP slots?

Very few games support this type of physics so far, you should grab something else for better performance.
 
My bad then, I was pretty sure I saw AGP when they first came out.
Anyhow, thanks for the input, if it doesn't increase performance in games that don't officialy support it, I don't need it. Although it's ALMOST worth it just for cell factor (played it without physx on my PC using a tweak, and it really rocked)
 
Because I got negative 24 fps while blowing berrals around
 
PCIE version probably wont comeout for a while, I've been waiting for it since day one :(


Also, how do you get a negative fps, lol
 
i am gonna wait till havok. that is gonna be the one that is supported across the board. maybe not better but supported. Nvidia and ATI have too much juice and agiea although being first will die once havok is out. kinda like VHS and BETA beta was better but VHS had more support and lower production $ and who won that one?

Ageia had a great idea and the card may be great but Havok is gonna support almost all games so i have no coice once havok comes out that is the way i'll go.
 
A more expensive but more beneficial route would be to get a 3-PCI-e mobo, 2 crossfire (or 1) vid cards and a lower-end ati card to run the physics. Or, if you had two, you could crossfire in games like CS for performance boost, then turn off crossfire and have the second card run physics during games like GRAW. Still, would probably result in better performance to just have faster video card(s) than physics at all. Save up your money and get an 8800. They have physics control built-in.

Pretty big difference between 600 dollars (no point in buying a a 300 dollar low-end-high-end card, it's a joke, if you're going big might as well go BIG) and 150, no? Also, just because it has one doesn't mean anything. It won't work natively with GRAW and CellFactor and the like. There aren't games to support "nvidia built-in" physics that I know of
