how long have you been folding?

My first DC project was Seti@home back in 2000 but I never put a lot of effort into it as I was constantly moving around back then. I discovered F@H and Team 33 in 2008 but my participation was very sporadic until October of 2009 when I decided to finally ramp up with a dedicated farm.

I remember folding back in 2002 or so. Back on my old Duron system, I think. No idea when I started.

I started with SETI@home back around 2001 maybe. I ran UD for a couple years. I started folding for team 33 in July 2008.

Did some SETI way back when. Then I came to the [H] and crunched for the UD team. I believe I've been folding since around 03.

Far to long and not long enough ............. :D

Joined the [H]orde first week of Oct. 2009.
Folded on the Ps3 sparingly before then teamless.

I started with Genome@Home and before I even registered for the forum. Well, that was folding for [H]. Previous to that I had done some RC5-64 and also started on SETI when it first came out. I have a bit of history regarding DC projects.

Ran Seti starting in 2000, and started folding for team 33 around 2003 or so, and is the only team i've folded under.

Is there a stats history site? can I look up my rank in 2004?

Probably around the same time for me as well (2001). I thought your username was familiar. You were one of the top producers then, IIRC.

Yep, looks like he was hitting the Genome project along with you and I Apollo. You were ranked 79th, I was at 86th and I found lehmann ranked 260 on the Top 1000 Genome@Home list. Found SmokeRngs at 502 on the list as well...

That has been a while back guys...we're getting old, but we've still got our senior folding wings.

Yes i had a huge home farm was top 5 in genome and top ten here for a while. Im comming back a little slower this time. Guarantee i will be comming. think im gonna sell my dirtbike and build one of those 6 core i7's when they come out.
I lost my origanal screen name somehow hell cant even remember what it was lol

I would like to see that myself the glory days

I started folding mid January this year!

Hopefully I'll be around for a long time

How many systems were you running back then at your peak? I think I had 5-6 systems at most and some of them were old architectures even for that time (socket-7 and 8).

That would be awesome albeit on the expensive side, but if you're going to be using it as a main system then it's going to be great all around.

Hopefully by then -bigadv is available for A3 WU/SMP2 clients otherwise you're going to be limited to 8 cores in the VM and have to run -bigadv as 8 cores only with the other 4 cores being used with the SMP -4 flag in a Windows SMP2 client. No way to get more than 8 cores in the VM. Or you could run a native *nix distro as well I suppose, but keep that in mind before buying (just an FYI).

I cant remember how many sytems i had but i do remember 25ghz worth of PIII's and athlons. Im thinking 18 computers maybe. had 3 dual PIII's. man i thought they where the shit lol. I was still on my athlon xp 2500 till nov 2009

all the boards i buy from now on will have 3 pci-e slots. think ill replace this msi cd53 single pci-e with a new one.

12.06.04 was my first WU. Not folding as much as I used to, but I still have a zombie boxen floating around out there. :p

That should produce very good output from my estimations. I wonder what two SMP2 clients with the -smp 6 flag will produce?

No way to get more than 8 cores in the VM..
You can but that would require purchasing the software and it isn't cheap, unfortunately.

I remember someone with 18 systems. I guess it must have been you!

I sill have a dual PIII but I stopped folding on it a little over a year ago. Even the uniprocessor clients run slow on it except for the Amber units but Stanford sends these only on a sporadic basis, so I shut it down.

I was still on my athlon xp 2500 till nov 2009
I had my dual Barton Athlon system (TK7) running until this past December and it would have still been folding if I didn't make a foolish mistake...

you should ashamed of yourself you could at least run one client of something :p

8/1/2005, as sdave30 for team 49 (ForumOC I think it was called.) I had folded with everything I could find, from a Cyrix 300 (it was horrible) to my XP1800 dually dedicated folder. I didnt' have anything compared to some of you nutcases over [H]ere, but I did freqent the [H]ard forums for tips and tricks back then. I got out of it for a while, but always had my main rig crunching something over the years. Right before last Christmas, I got a new Phenom II 945, which was the first multi-core processor machine I ever tried to fold on. I checked back in here to see what was the best/easiest way to set it up, and became fascinated again with all of the stuff going on.

Anon folding in 06, PSP forums (I was #1 guy) in 07-early 08, with the horde from then on

man I wish I could find some stats from 2003-2004 Back then I had permission to fold at work, and we just bought a batch of brand new 533 fsb P4's. I think I had 60-70 processors at my peak. And for about 8 months I fought for the top spot within [H], then I quit that job, and my ppd trickled down to nothing. That job was awsome/sucked, I could buy anything "unlimited budget", but they wouldnt budge on salary at all (30k). :(

According to stats April 05 but seems like there was eccp or eccp2 before that and Seti, RC-64, 56 before that. Want to say since about 97 I have been involved with various distrubuted computing projects. Best project so far, folding@home :D

I started Folding in Feb of 2001. About a month before Kyle officially started the [H]ardOCP Folding team. At my peak back then I had 15 computers, mostly Athlons, running it in my 700 sq ft apt. But in those days of the Folding 1 project points for units were very small compared to today. You built up a lot of completed units vs points.

Signed up for the Forum because I had questions on G@H and F@H. So a month or two before the forum join date, going on 9 years now.

It's all relics fault.

Since 2001'ish while working at U. Hawaii  Switched to the [H] in 2005. :D

I didn't the Seti thing first too ,can't recall the year

Oya, Seti, forgot that, like 2002 then, but didnt stick with that for long

Started with FAH on 04-28-07 ... have been running FAH and WCG since then.

The Way Back Machine has some hit and miss history on the third party stats sites. I used it a time or two for researching things when I was doing the weekly updates.

EOC says my first WU was Aug 2005, but I was folding on a AthlonXP back then, so those 600 point Gromacs units could have taken months since I my machine was only on a few hours a day back then.

Its been a LONG time!!! I used to bounce between SETI, boinc, prime95 and the RC stuff. Then I took 6 or so years off once I started paying for my own electricity! I just recently restarted folding now that the fundage allows me to pay for good hardware and pay for electricity! Ive been with team 33 for awhile now and I am finally making a decent contribution!

Started with SETI back in '02 or so. Moved to F@H in '05-ish as well as joined the 33. It's been slow and steady for me, but I've definitely enjoyed the ride.

been folding since 09-13-2008 when i joined the forum.. though in the beginning it became more of an addiction now i mostly do it just because i hate seeing hardware sitting idle.. mostly run BOINC projects for TPF and still fold under random members accounts for team 33 that post here in the DC forum and are under a million points.. i stopped folding under my name some where around may of last year, maybe even before that.. cant remember though.. but i originally started DC'ing on Seti around 2001 on my PII 300 @ 500mhz then on my athlon XP 1700+.. i stopped running seti in 2003 i think when i finally blew up my bad ass yet crappy quality socket A motherboard..

F@H since 08.29.08. Farm has grown a bit since then.
No borgs, all out of pocket.
