How long does a Macbook Pro refund take to process?

I'm really confused, you used a debit card for the transaction and they need to send you a check now?
when i last used a debit card when i bought something from apple, the refund went faster than to cc? Not sure if my debit is different from your, but i have a Wellsfargo Debit card with a Visa Logo in the front

Depends on whether it's run as a pin-less credit card transaction, as opposed to a debit transaction that requires your pin number.

The card I used was an ATM card. I don't have a debit card associated with this particular account. Apple got the refund wrong from the get go, took two weeks (10 business days) to realize their mistake. I finally get a hold of the senior manager of the store and he remedied the issue.

If you use your debit card as a credit transaction its the same as a credit card. I wish I could have done that but my situation was unique. Lesson learned, big time.

The reason I returned it for a PC laptop is honestly I can get the same specs if not better for half the cost (well, for the most part.) I want to keep the money and pay off all my bills, buy a cheaper laptop, and call it a day. Now I have to wait. Good news is that the stuff I want to buy is getting cheaper as I wait for the refund.

Let me clarify: I am not a Apple hater. For the most part I have had a completely worry-free Apple experience. The managers seem to know what they are talking about, but the general entry-level employee of Apple seems to be pretty clueless (or at least, most of them then should be allowed, IMO.)

I just think its funny that I never have this problem with any other vendor. With Apple I always feel like I am being overcharged or hustled. At least they dropped their prices on fixing iPhone glass breaking.

suck, i feel for you
apple's pricing is a bit higher than PC (for comparable specs). But i guess that is because it looks a lot nicer and thinner :). I used both PC and apples and i own basically all the apple products in the house although i prefer to game on PC more.
I personally like their service at the Apple store, especially if your product is still under warranty, they can swap out or repair for you really fast.
Although i would not go to them if my product is out of warranty though, a local computer shop can repair at a much cheaper cost.

Day 17 since return. I'm going to ask them if I can get something for free at this point.

Ask them to help you get a credit card.

I don't need another credit card. What I needed was advice on buying this from Apple when I was about to buy it. Had I known to do it as a credit transaction only and that would have prevented this from happening, I would have taken note of that and done so.

Update: looks like this is going take 4-5 weeks since return. If anyone has gotten a check return from apple can they post here and PM me with how long it took for them? Thanks.

4-5 weeks, seriously? I hope you charge them interest on your money ;)

I wish I could. I've honestly decided to buy Apple products from a third party such as newegg or best buy. The Apple retail store has completely lost my business. Apparently rebates from apple take just as long, if not longer. Rebate checks, according to other Apple customers, take 6-8 weeks!

You don't say?

Heh, I got Apple rebate checks back pretty fast, like way faster than other places.

It sucks that you haven't gotten your money back yet. I've only ever had good experiences with Apple after years of trading with them.

In Apple's defense, it took exactly 10 business days to receive my check. I'm more angry about the fact it took them 2 weeks to realize their mistake... and that they kept not taking responsibility for their mistake. They often are so stuck to their 'policy' that they won't think out of the box... sigh...

Well all policies are good and bad. They're good because they're easy to teach and they streamline processes, but in this particular case, some employees didn't know what to do.

Sorry about your experience. Not that it will change your mind about anything, but your experience is not the norm.

I'm not saying it's the norm, it's more a warning to say that if a retailer is wrong - get on their ass and they will more quickly fix their mistake, but do it in a nice way. I was very calm and never yelled at anyone at the store over the phone. I was very nice to them and just called every once in a while for updates.

I have had a positive experience from Apple outside of this.
