Pentium 4 2.8C Northwood Malay week 26 @ 4.200ghz

My mobo is limiting me ( bus speed and voltages ), Low voltages everything is running on. Getting my self an ABIT IC7 MAX3 to see what the max of this cpu is. And If im able to get it stable even higher, used to run completely stable at 4.2ghz at 1.7volts, these days I have crashes at 4ghz but Im not sure whehter I set the cpu at 3.8 in the bios and then went further with clockgen, cuz I knew i couldn't get any further than 4ghz using the bios so im sure it's not the cpu that has probs or turning dead on me.

Not to mention the several water spills though, fried my ocz ddr booster in there as well.

Far from stable :p Used my digicam to take this pic, fun though :)

XP 1800+ @ 2420 (220*11) NF7-S 1.775 on the core, 2.7 on the mem (hyperx 3200) and 1.7 on the NB.

Question for you modkid. I have a 2.8 northwood and a max3, I have been trying to hit 250 FSB, but I am having issues with it. I am on air and just installed the gkill 4400 LE, any advice? Would that clock gen program allow me to change setting without restart? ALL advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Pentium 4 2.4C at 3.00 gig.

Weeeeeeeeeee!!

Soon I will be getting a 3.4C P4 and if I get it up to 250Mhz I will have a 4.25 gig processor!!

I've got a 3200 Winchester from week 44 at 2.5GHz on air, tested prime stable for 24 hours, super pi at 34 sec.

Maybe I can squeeze out some more here, because I'm at about 1.54v on my Epox mobo, but my temps have gone to 52 degrees under load.

Ram is holding me back though, but I'm considering going back to Intel after their dual cores hit the market so I'll probably be going the ddr2 route, but that G.Skill ram looks so tempting. :D

GMAXX: the ram is great so far, once you work out the timings and voltages. Sometimes it won't post, thought it was speed setting, but turned out the memory wanted LOWER voltages! You have to find the sweet spot (still haven't found mine) but it seems like it boots and posts at higher fsb at lower voltages.

I used to keep it at 3.6Ghz all the time.

Then when I "upgraded" from my Corsair XMS3200 2x256 to HyperX3200 2x512 I couldnt go as high and I had to disable some of the GAT settings. And I could only hit about 3.4Ghz.... still a 1Ghz OC. But the chip is capable of 3.6Ghz maybe even 3.7Ghz, if I didnt hit the 300 FSB wall

That's cool! I've been wanting that G.Skill. Seeing some great results with it. Good Luck with it!

Remember Im using a vapochill. It gives you this little extra to go beyond anything water or air could do.

I can run at 3.5ghz on air, or watercooling. My p4 needs below zero temperature to go any further.

Clockgen allows you to overclock your cpu while being in windows. If you set your settings right ( voltage, timings etc ), and you have problems booting overclocked, just overclock your system using clockgen.

Im using PC3500 ultra geil memory, and to be honest with you, i run at 2.5 / 8 / 3 / 3 at 4.2ghz.

Im getting an ABIT IC7 MAX3 to see whether im able to push it any further, and it's a really nice motherboard anyway, better than the albatron.

That upgrade would prolly be the last in terms of motherboards for 478.

I guess it's just be a matter of finding the right way to oc mine. The first hurdle is 240. I am trying to do it at a 1:1 setting, is this going to be too much to hope for 250 @ 1:1? I have the new g skill LE's. What programs do you use for stability? I tried the memtest86 bootable cd and got thousands of errors from the get go, test 1. Is there any special way to set that program up?

2.8c @ 3307, default voltage, 29 idle / 50 load, Aluminum Cooler Master Cooler, rock solid stable 24hrs of prime95 and couple hours of looping 3dmark

I'd like to say more, but a Barton 2600 1.9GHz -> 2.1GHz was the best I could do on air

Wow.....i had been redoing my subscriptions to threads and hadn't seen any updates from this thing in awhile.....had no idea it was still going. :p

Gah, too bad I can't go post new results....I've got my 1700+ running at 2.4GHz right now with this CoolerMaster Aero7 Lite on low speed....good ol' 1GHz overclock....gotta love these chips. ;)

hehe yeah, and now I've got this A64 that hits a 400mhz+ O/C instead of my old P4 that only did 300...

Sempron 3100+ @ 2.4

603mhz OC (267*9)

sync

yeh, I like it. Boosted my 3dmark score by almost 500 points. I'm going for more, though...it will do 2.5, I just have improper cooling (stock hsf).

An A64 2800+ that can go from 1.8 to 2.2 and a 3700+ that only goes from 2.4 to 2.5 thanks to my shitty motherboard.

winnie 1.8ghz (3000+) @ 2.52ghz. aircooled, default v (4x htt)

so....+752mhz!!!!

unfortunately my shuttle sff mobo won't go past 280 mhz fsb, so i can't push it any more.

2.4 (400 fsb) at 596fsb (149) 3.56Ghz. Runs on stock voltage, and is a perfect match to my 9800 Pro. athough i wouldnt mind getting a new chip and searching for the new limit.

AMD athlon64 2800+ 1.8 to 2.36 soon to be 2.4-5, aircooled and stock voltage. hopefully some new ram will solve my overclocking issues.

620 MHz out of a Mobile Barton, 220*11=2420 1.65V over the stock 1800 on air in an Antec Overture, LanParty NFII Ultra B, Corsair Value Select 2.5-3-3-6 1:1. With either a more conventional/better ventilated case or water cooling, I could go higher I'm sure. That actually matches my best Intel OC mark, 620 MHz out of a 2.6C. Would never be stable above that, regardless of PSU, RAM, or Mobo. I was kind of disappointed. :(
