Only by a week, but no reason given
THQ confirmed today that the publisher will be “repositioning” its launch of Homefront. Instead of it being released on March 8th, the title has been moved back a week and will instead arrive on March 15th. No reason was given for the decision.
Sources that we spoke with indicate that the reason might just be that Pokemon Black & White and Dragon Age 2 are slated for a March 8th release. Homefront is a big title for THQ and Kaos studios and the move to the 15th of March gives the publisher the chance to launch the title and dominate launch day, as nothing else really big is slated for release on that day.
If true, the strategy could actually be a very good decision that should help give Homefront every advantage to get off to a good start. Retailers that we spoke with indicate that pre-orders are picking up on the title and customers are asking their staff more questions about the title.
Originally I planned to preorder it, but with no demo and the preorder bonus only being early unlockables I am going to play wait and see.

I will be into Rift then anyway, but I wouldn't mind a good FPS Mp right now.
I just can't shake the feeling that this game is going to be good.
I really hope you're right. I would love if this game ends up as one that not only lives up to the hype, but exceeds it. I just like that Kaos has said that they're actually putting more effort into the single-player experience compared to the multi-player. We need more good single-player games these days.
Agreed. I'm definitely rooting for it.
Delaying Homefront a week isn't going to improve its sales any.
If anything, delaying it will hurt its chances, for the obvious reason that a person who was on the fence about which title to buy might decide, what the hell, and buy Dragon Age 2 since the other was unavailable.
Now if the developer had stepped it up a bit and released Homefront right now, three weeks before Dragon Age 2's release, that would have been clever. We're even in a bit of a dry spell right now. Even I might have bought this title for the weekend if it had been available.
What they're doing is stupid. They want me to buy Homefront one week after the release of Dragon Age 2 - that's not going to happen. After DA2 I'll be playing Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, and then the new Total War game. And if Deus Ex makes it in there you can bet I'll be buying that. By that time The Witcher 2 should be available.
Who knows, I might even decide to wait out for a Steam sale on this one.
I hated Frontlines and this game doesn't look that great to me either.
I figured these guys would make better games considering how amazing Desert Combat was, truly one of the best mods ever (and better than BF2 imo)
Dc mod was good but better than BF2? K Try playing DC now and see if you still feel that way. Rose colored glasses are cool and all but be realistic. It's dated as hell and that version of the engine used for 1942 was wonky and clunky as a fucker lol.
As far as homefront. I'll be pre ordering this and Crysis 2 this weekend. DA2? meh I enjoyed the first one but I rarely finish an RPG to the end and I usually by the time I get my fill of it I could have bought it on a deep deep sale and still played through as much in the same time. I'll wait for DA2 to go on a steam sale later in the year and enjoy 2 kick ass(hopefully) fps's.
I was interested in the game until I saw some of the recent media. Now it seems to look like a Modern Warfare clone to me.
Here's a pretty brutal preview on Rock Paper Shotgun...

And here's a Youtube demo video which makes the game look almost exactly like a Call of Duty clone.

I don't think this game will catch on.
highly scripted corridor shooter = utter crap
publicity stunt gone awry: http://blog.games.yahoo.com/blog/445-balloon-stunt-raises-anger-in-san-francisco
Damn, I fell for the hype and pre-ordered it. The cartoonish look of the characters really pisses me off.
