dug up an old 440BX dual slot 1 running 2 P2 400mhz procs and a gb of sdram .. running smp client on it .. should put me in the top 4 producers now with this bad boy, lol.

Ram in this thing is like 2 sdram chips sandwiched together ..never saw ram like that before.

dual 1000s to avoid thread fail

hmm....maybe i should dig around my room to find some old P2's i have, maybe it was P3 .... definatly a slot one...

I've got a 486 in a box somewhere. Too bad I dont have a motherboard and RAM for it though.

Fire up the unicore client a put them to use... on your neighbor's power preferably ;)

ye old computational device

8.something gb ultra wide scsi drive as primary and 20gb ide secondary drive .. ati pci vidcard.. WinXP Home running the smp client.

4 x 256meg sticks of ECC PC100 SDRAM. .. each stick of ram looks like 2 sticks with a copper looking hinge thingy do-dad.

..and then of course .. 2 x 400mhz slot 1 Pentium 2 goodness .. :p

Awesome stuff. Brings back tons of memories.

However, sadly, that stuff isn't even worth the electricity it would use anymore.

No but it is fun, i'm currently kitting out the man cave and contemplating a p120 and xp2100 for old games. Wonder what the 2100 would get with classic WU?

This brings back memories.

We used the OC the hell out of those slot chips.

/sniff

I miss my Celeron 300A :(

The old Celeron 300A..............I thought I invented overclocking all by myself with an Abit motherboard and that CPU. Then I went online to look up more info about it, and discovered [H]. The rest is history.

you must have gotten into this stuff at an earlier age than me. The first chip that I ever bought with my own funds and that I actually tried to OC was a 1.4ghz Athlon Thunderbird

All the previous PCs were stuff my family owned. P100, P2 266, P3 500

the celery 300A was a beast.......

the IMO the next big one was the cel II 600..... you could usually get those to run 900+..... $75 chip that ran like a $300 chip

Middle school for me.

I had a friend that always had cutting edge systems. I would buy his "old" parts (6-9 months after release date).

Had to keep my system up to spec, or I'd get fragged in GL Quake. Many a good time had playing RedAlet too.

Didn't start folding till I had a athlon socket A. It got fried and died.

I had both. The 300 went up to 450 and the 600 to 933 with ease. That was fun.

I was getting 100PPD from two AthlonXP boxes running the classic client. I recently retired them and my electric bill dropped 20 bucks. Not worth it IMHO.

No way the OP is meeting deadlines running SMP units on ancient hardware.

Not good for the project even if it brings back memories ... recycle it and move on.

I wana say we hit 500+ with our 300A.

It's nick name was egg-frier. The HSF would burn your hand if you touched it.

No recycling for me, it going to live out the rest of its days playing old games that don't like more modern hardware:D

That way the modern hardware can fold more:D:cool:

it's already at 9% after starting it yesterday afternoon  and setting it to "small" during initial setup when it asks for username, team .. passkey .. etc .. :p how do you find out the deadlines on these wu's?

Can you overclock the system? :D

Also if you are serious about folding on it you may as well do it right and install linux...

That setup is probably more suited for dual classic units. SMP units won't meet the deadlines. I don't think you can set a work unit size for the SMP client.

FAHmon will display PPD and deadlines also.

What WU is it running? Did you configure it with the -smp option? It may be running a classic unit that might meet the deadline.

Nice CPUs. What system did you have them in?
None, was going to get a Dual slot1 133MHz board at one point but never got around to it so they are sitting on some other equipment.

Old memories !!! I had a 440BX motherboard with a 300A overclocked to 450 Mhz. That's the golden age of overclocking.

You mean one of these?

232,000k RAM! Sick! :)

Ah speedfan. That also brings back memories.

I like the heavy duty dishwasher/utility tubing from the hardware store. Very nice.

1.76V on the CPU, ah those were the days. One of the advantages of building chips on lithography above 200nm. :p

That looks like an old InWin Full Tower....

I've still got mine in the garage..... original CPU..... PIII 450 @ 500.....
