-bigadv on very high end multi-socket servers perhaps? Low WU count but enormous bonus would probably explain it.
 
The current 2685 on my sr2 is worth 96,347 right now.
 
Dual hex, that's all, no cheating

evga may be shady but I don't see them breaking rules, they just like to bend the grey areas that's all

now if someone starts running like 12 of those then that's something to watch. Even when youhave people making over 1 mil ppd they still aren't cheating technicly

Seems someguys on evga still don't get it, we still say it ain't cheating and just he's running some crazy hardware and go to bat for them but they still like to try and start stuff. A
member pointed out on their boards this thread (and I was quoted too lol) and how we went to bat for them and they still sing the same old song. Anyone here say they were "cheating"? I know I didn't. Is the bucks program a grey area? Hell yea, anyone who thinks it isn't is swimming a river in Egypt... We've come to realize tho that it's just a grey area and it's pretty obvious were not doing anything but bitchin In house about it amongst our own members. Is that a crime? Can you say you havnt griped about your fav sports team losing to other fellow sports fans?

Well, y'all should have mowed us months ago so I think that speaks for itself. Does any of it really matter? Nope. I spend thousands of my own money on folding gear and y'all do the same thing. Aren't we all in it for the same end goal? That's what I thought

Even tho I fold for the competition...much love for you guys over here at [H] . This is the only other enthusiast forum I go to because the community here is awesome. Don't take the grumblings of EVGA members personally some people are just thick.
 
To end on a more directed-to-my-own team idea, don't think we'll disapear once you pass us, history shows if you slow down once you're in the clear we'll be right there to take it back

I honestly prefer a nice slice of spam pan fried to a golden brown color with some Hungry Jack biscuits and a side of grits. Tacos are okay, but I have yet to find a place that does decent tacos. I have no clue what tamales and enchiladas are as i'm not very knowledgable about Mexican food.

Then again, you are talking to the person who is in heaven eating a plate of fried chicken gizzards with a side of collard or mustard greens cooked in fatvat or bulk bacon.

Obviously the "kinda" comes from the biased view, I guarantee from a few of the posts in that thread that if the shoe were on the other foot, there wouldn't be any "kinda" because there wouldn't be any "sticking up" going on, we'd get buried. That's ok though, doesn't matter to me none and I'm sure that won't make any of you lose sleep at night or make any of them lose sleep at night. That's just the way things are, rival teams and all.

That being said - they may pass us and joke about us being 2nd or being jealous, I find that rather amusing considering it cost the company they fold under bucks and sponsorship in order to buy their way to #1 whereas our team has earned it [H]ard and clear over its time but whatever. Top dog doesn't stay on top for long.

Every team has devout dedicated folders, I'm not saying that EVGA is full of nothing but EVGA buck redeemers. However being that the gist of most folding teams is the small crowd (sub 10-20k), you take away all the signup buck people, I guarantee you they'd never catch us. They can take 1st place, but put an asterisk on it, because just like all the MLB HR records falling from steroid users, the only reason EVGA beats us is because of EVGA bucks. They can "shoulda coulda woulda" that all they want to, the fact remains - I guarantee you that you take away those bucks, let's see the trend line of their team over a year time then, I bet you $100 REAL GREENBACK BENJAMIN US DOLLAR BUCKS it won't be the same.

I agree, lets just do what we can and kick some ass. Lots of people complain about my favorite team the Yankees, but they won the world series fair and square last year. We all do what we can because we all started for a cause we believed in.

The Cincinnati Reds have historically sucked really really bad after their world series win in 1990. That is actually why I started becoming a Yankees fan as I love baseball, and so many of my favorite players were on that team. I grew to love that team just as much ir not more than the Reds because of those players. Sure they were basically a team of all stars, but they still won all their games fair and square which is something the New England Patriots football team can't claim.

Interesting enough, the Reds are still in 1st place in their division this year. My dream matchup has always been a Reds/Yankees matchup in the world series.
 
If someone would have posted "They're not cheating." and just hit post, there probably wouldn't be any discussion about it on EVGA. But it seems everyone who makes a post that starts with something like that needs to then go into a multi-paragraph explanation of why, while EVGA isn't cheating, they're not entirely on the up and up.

True. We'll never know, but I'd still put $100 bucks on the line that they wouldn't overtake us like this if they didn't have their bucks program to begin with.

I expect user numbers to fluctuate because people drop in and out with seasons/weather, and some sell hardware or lose interest - but teams don't generally gain hundreds of users on a daily basis for no reason with no reward program in place. Again - it's common sense. Hell, they LOST a bunch of members earlier this year, then EVGA upped the bucks ante some more and the member # climbed even higher. Coincidence? I think not.

I'm appreciative of Genmay for life, but come on, you can't compare forum access to discounts on computer hardware like that's an equal playing field when it isn't. I don't expect to get bonuses for folding, I don't fold for bonuses, I fold for the science and I fold because of histories in mine & my wife's family, as well as for my kid's future so that hopefully one day there are cures for things that have killed people for the last few hundred years. I don't need incentives to do this. But one team gloating when their backer throws money at anyone who will join is just some BS. :mad:

I think it's great that EVGA is offering incentives to get people to fold .. it's a win win situation .. more wu's are getting crunched and EVGA gets some pr over it .. soon we might see it incorporated into their ads about being the number 1 folding team and the work they are doing to find a cure, blah blah ..

..end result, more folding is getting done at the end of the day and so we all win..

It's fun to be #1 .. but everybody likes to see the top dog get knocked down from time to time ;) .. only to rise again from the ashes with renewed vigor .. :cool:

Last i checked the whole purpose of F@H was to get science done. And EVGA has started this program which has dramatically increased participation in this project.

If some arbitrary points system that has no actual value or reward really means that much to you, then you need to rethink why you are doing this.

Does it bother me that EVGA is going to pass us, because they have created incentive for people to join their team? YES, but its just how it is right now.

We just have to keep doing what we have been doing for years, and maybe well take back the #1 spot.

Stop complaining and go build another boxen :D
