I figured I would make a thread since I just prepurchased this and i feel like its approaching quickly.

I got this for 36$ using the 20% off coupon on greenmangaming since it already had 10% off.

thought people should know about that as well.

Anyways I am excited for this one

What I need to do to get that chick to come out and bend over so I can see her bikini vajayjay in the sniper challenge? :p

Not sure if serious.

You need to shoot her white boots (by the pool), her hat (on top of the bear) and her handbag (out on a bench by the pond) for her to come out.

Hell yeah man, getting this when I get home from work. $36? It's robbery. We're robbing them. My most anticipated game imo.

I got it for $33.75 using the previous 25% voucher, so I guess I'm robbin' the hardest here!

Can't wait for this. I have to fire up at least Contracts and Blood Money once a year on average.

Will be playing in hardcore mode without any of the handholding options on.

Then it's either different for the US vs EU or they've changed it since the 11th. As far as I know this should come with all preorders, it's not like they have a reason to hold it back. The only thing I can think is if they've simply run out of allocated keys for the moment.

Let us know what GMG support say.

Probably. I fired up a ticket about it.

Just a heads up. That's kind of disappointing but considering I only paid $36 for the Pro Edition I'm not going to cry about it.

That stinks. So what is the Sniper Challenge all about anyway?

I bought a 7950 and it comes with a free coupon for hitman, far cry 3 and sleeping dogs, none of those interest me. Anyone interested?

$33.75, awesome! Snapped it up.

Downside is, no sniper challenge for me. It also says that my key will be emailed to me on the 20th, 1 day later than steam reports. Says there is also a chance for my key to show up before the email so to keep checking the site on your keys page.

Sucks that we will be missing out on the bonus you can get from it. I wonder if something will be done at a later date, perhaps releasing it to everyone that preordered after a certain date.

Either way, cant wait!

I dunno what the hell PC Gamer was talking about saying this game has issues and that it's not very good, etc. It's pretty awesome, IMO. Only on the 3rd level but it runs perfect on my 7970 on 1440p maxed out and the game is really fun, just like previous Hitman games. No, you can't pick your weapons at the beginning of each level but IMO it's not necessary. There are plenty of weapons to find throughout each level and at the end of the day the point of the game is STEALTH anyway, not a run & gun game. So far, I'd say the real score I'd give it would be closer to an 8.0.

They updated their review as far as the performance issues went. That's over with.

More or less I'm with you. I'd say the score was harsh but there's some fundamental complaints that I agree with that I'll briefly touch on:

1.) Less freedom to a needless degree. I should be able to pick the weapons (re: "tools") for the missions like we always have been able to for every previous Hitman game.

This is an example of where I feel a needless constraint.

2.) You get punished for EVERYTHING point wise. If you subdue someone and then dump them in a box it breaks even. If you kill someone it's worse. If you want to get points to rack up goodies you have to tiptoe through the tulips and that's another needless constraint.

I should rack up points for being an awesome Hitman. It's that simple.

3.) The game unquestionably more linear. You pass a certain point, the door shuts behind you and you can't go back. The size of the mission areas is generous so that's not the end of the world but still. C'mon.

Again, less freedom or sense thereof.

Take the friggin' handcuffs off, IO!

3.) Contracts mode has a lot more potential going for it...if the servers work. They need to make this like Splinter Cell Conviction's Deniable Ops mode. Let me play it online or offline and not have to suck a server's tit to even use it.

If I want to craft my own missions and play it to hell offline let me do it! Shoot, I still play Deniable Ops.

Right now I'm still fairly early into the game. I'm only at the Terminus level but if I were scoring it right now I'd be giving it a 75/100. I think PC Gamer was a bit too harsh but I share a little bit of the aggravation as you can tell.

I thought Gamespy's PC review was a bit more fair and on the money from what I'm seeing so far.

If IO finds a way to loosen some of these dumb ass, needless constraints my score would go up quickly. Take the handcuffs off and I'd be past 80/100 easily.

It's not Blood Money 2 and it should have been. That would have been a 10/10 game for me and you wouldn't even be seeing me here right now because I'd probably be IV'd to the thing. ;)

Yeah, that is really annoying. You should maybe be punished for killing non-targets, that's how it was before anyway, but not for simply knocking them out...that's just silly.

So basically what they are saying is you need to avoid everyone except the target, and just not use any of the cool weapons in the game, really. Seems like a fail game mechanic.

It's bullshit. And if I do good kills or subdues on hostiles...because I'm the Hitman...I should rack up points.

I should lose points for common sense things like killing innocents, making a lot of noise, and stuff like that.

Pretty much. Or you can do whatever the hell you want...albeit without ANY choice of "tools" before you go into a mission in story mode...but be prepared to not earn any unlocks or some such.

I think it's totally flawed in its present form. It could be fixed with a nice patch. I pray IO addresses this.

Fail mechanic, but you can avoid it. After I saw that I lost like 3 grand points for killing a good, who's probably a bigger murdered than me, I agreed that I wouldn't be looking at it anymore. I just went on murdering everyone and hiding their bodies ahaha.

Here's the problem though: If you want to earn goodies, unlock and advance skills, weapons, capabilities, etc... you HAVE to care about the point system.

Again, I cite Blood Money. I loved how that was handled. You earned money by kicking ass and especially with finesse and you spent that money on goodies to kick more ass. And you could use any of those goodies in any mission you wanted. Player choice.

That's the way it should be.

Ill wait til its down to 20 after reading the handcuffs statement

It's $36 with a GMG discount. It's a damned good game in its own right. I'm a Hitman fanboy ranting so don't read into this too much ok? ;)

PC version averaging out a good ten percent points or so lower than the console versions.

^^ This is arguably the most well rounded and even handed review I've seen for the PC version thus far.

In theory, a patch or two COULD change things for the better in terms of freeing up some of the constraints mentioned there or like I've been harping on in the PC gaming area.

It's a good game in its own right. If it get some support and TLC it could go up.

If you see a GMG setup in the $30ish range again it's a no brainer buy IMHO.

Trying to shift discussion to this thread, so I'll use it.

I don't know if it was the drivers or what, but after trying the new nVidia betas, that bizarre stutter I had when the game first came out went away. Performance could be better at times, but it's perfectly playable so far.

the game is pretty slow paced its playable at lower then 60 fps if you ask me. but i still would like the 60.

ditched tessellation and was get 50-60. but i think i might just remove MSAA isntead.

I spoke too soon about the stutter, it seems I get it a little bit at the start of a mission and then sometimes at random times.

One question is, seriously, how the fuck are you supposed to do these missions without getting caught? I only just started the first mission (Chinatown, which was in a trailer so not gonna spoiler tag it) but I've walked around the entire area several times and I can't figure out how to do it without having to subdue or get "spotted".

For instance, I can't find any way to get to the car, period. No disguise so far has worked. Trying to distract the guards doesn't work because one investigates and another just stands there watching endlessly.

So I went to go up where that drug guy is. You can sabotage an electrical box to get a guard to move, but of course there are one or two other guards who NEVER move and are impossible to get by without the disguise. Which, of course, forces you to subdue the drug guy and take his clothes. I guess if you hide the bodies you break even on points, but still.

So I go up there, get the sniper rifle, and shoot the guy. I was like 5 feet or more back from the window, and yet after shooting I still get "spotted" somehow magically. Then, of course, your cover is blown and there are at least three guards who stand outside the only exit and never leave. I tried to subdue one of them and another guy saw me, and opened fire. At that point the mission was blown.

I remember from the trailer you're supposed to be able to poison the guy, but I haven't ever been able to find the poison. So, what the fuck? Are you supposed to just fucking shoot everyone and not give a shit? It seems like the game forces you to. And I'm only playing on Hard, not Expert or Purist.
