Hey Aquacomputer, why would you do this?

Just received my high-flow sensor. Beautiful looking piece of kit, was very excited it install it, except I can't for a few more days.

Because the non-standard cable is not included with the sensor.

:rage:

Don't you just hate it when douchenozzles like that use proprietary connectors on their parts rather than adhering to at reasonable standards?

I think I get it - looking at the pinout on the flowmeter, you would NOT want to accidentally plug this thing into a fan header or Aquabus channel.

Still - not including the REQUIRED cable is a pretty dick move. =/

The Aquaero fan controllers are the best on the market, bar none, but yes, they kind of are dicks.

When I bought my flow sensor the only cable you could buy in the US was WAY too short, so I had to wait for mine to arrive from Germany.

Also, I only just noticed that the Aquasuite software isn't free with the hardware. You get a limited license and then have to pay to extend it. What kind of a dick move is that? Can you imagine if Corsair, Razer, Steelseries or any of those companies didn't include the software needed to use their peripheral products for free?

I kind of wish it wasn’t free, then maybe it wouldn’t be such piles of hot garbage

Why would you bother supporting such trashy behavior? I've never really cared enough to get a flow sensor, but if I did - and it didn't come with the required cable... it's getting returned as non-working since it doesn't actually work with the included components. I *might* let it go if it's a standard cable most people have laying around (think sata) but a proprietary one...

Wait... they make you pay for the software too? Why the hell are you guys bending over for this company? I don't care how amazing their fan control hardware and software is (let that sink in for a minute... fan control... something done pretty damn well by every bios on every motherboard I've owned in the past 10 years - custom curves, the nicer boards even "learned" the capabilities of my fans) if the total cost of the hardware and software to control your fans and pumps is more than $15... you need to start re-evaluating life choices.

I'm still hung up on the proprietary cable, but... seriously, if you think the fan control on every motherboard you've owned in the past 10 years is "done pretty damn well" for a watercooled PC, it's only because you've never cared to attempt controlling your fans on real watercooling numbers like ambient/coolant temperature delta. Aquacomputer has the market cornered on real watercooling fan control. No one else offers anything even remotely comparable.

Also, Zatha: I've never had to pay any more for the license that came with my Aquaero. It's still showing activated, even after multiple OS reinstalls and hardware changes. Not sure what's up there.

I haven't either, but I recently upgraded to the new AquaSuite X, and when I did it "converted" my license to the new Aquasuite X format. I never noticed that I had a license that expired before this.

If you look under Aquasuite tab on the left panel, and click on "updates", under "Devices" mine says "Includes update service until 12/17/2021". I'm, not sure if this was the case before, but it is now.

So, it sounds as if you just don't get any updates after the license expires.

Yep once the license expires you can continue to use the software without buying anything. If you want the continued updates you have to pay for a new subscription.

Sometimes I want to simplify and air cool my CPU but aio cool my gpu.
Most effort when the greatest reward are.
