Sorry, but SpeedStep is on for a reason.Make sure you disable Intel SpeedStep in the BIOS or the OS will slow your cores down... and disable the screen savers and disable sleep/hibernation and power always on - type things...
I'm looking into it, but the project or BOINC may not agree with HyperThreading.
Sorry, but SpeedStep is on for a reason.
I currently have it enabled and the clock doesn't drop below 2.67GHz while under full load. In addition, I'd really prefer the CPU to have the ability to downclock itself if the heat became intolerable. Crunching would be moot with a damaged CPU.That reason is a moot point if you are DC'ing.
Which is another reason the feature is still enabled; I may or may not be crunching 24/7.no sense in having a cpu running at 2.67ghz per core when the systems doing absolutely nothing..
For the record, that happens even if Speedstep is off (the CPU's thermal protection features are always active, no matter what). I do think that Speedstep should be left on though. In addition, I'd really prefer the CPU to have the ability to downclock itself if the heat became intolerable.
Thanks to everyone for clearing that up for me.For the record, that happens even if Speedstep is off (the CPU's thermal protection features are always active, no matter what).
Needless to say, I agree.I do think that Speedstep should be left on though.
