Hey there guys. I'm looking to build a PC that I could take everywhere that's small enough to lug around. So I've been watching videos pop up on the g4560. I'm not too savvy with processors but what I mainly wanted this portable PC was for WoW, Gears of War and StarCraft. Would this PC be good paired up with a GTX1060? Not looking for maxed out graphics. Mainly 1080p and maybe...just maybe 1440p.

From what I've read it's doing pretty nice compared to some i3s. Mostly against the last few gen stuff. I think for the price the risk to reward is worth it. Hell if you want decent 1080 gaming and don't have to turn everything up to ultra you could easily get a 1050 and probably get away with a 200-300 watt psu. Maybe even less.

The performance is pretty much equal to a stock 2500K and around a better i3 Haswell.

Its a super deal for the money and will do well for your games. A 1060 is a really good card too.

Read this article. The video only touches on the G4560 in passing towards the end. They do run a couple of test with it if you want to see how it does. In all honesty the video really just says, "We will test it later." So actually read the article and check out the charts.

Cued up the video to the 6:00 mark for you. That's when they discuss i3 value vs a locked i5 and i3 vs G4560. Basically the i3 is way overpriced and it's better to get a locked i5 vs OC'ing the i3. The G4560 MIGHT be where the value is; they want to do more testing before proclaiming that statement.

Hope that helps somewhat. Quite sure some users here can assist more.

Here's a video i watched recently that might give you some decent info, including benchmarks with the 1060. Shows there are some bottlenecking issues with the G4560/1060 but it's entirely dependant on the game - Gears of War 4 was included.

My problem is this chip is such a good performer that demand is causing the price to raise up to $90 - $125 and or sellers are asking a premium which makes it pointless to try and buy in my mind.

If anyone has found it for the $65 or so its supposed to be, can you please provide a link?

I could see a pretty damn good gaming pc @ 1080p content using this chip and a 1060

In Europe it sells for cheap.

No idea where you see it for 90-125$.

If you look around, you can find the i3 6100 cheaper than the $90-125 people are asking for the G4560. I grabbed one used in the forums for $80.

NewEgg didn't seem to have it listed. Might just want to wait a bit for more stock to come in.

thanks guys. i'm going to keep a close eye on the cpus you all mentioned. if that g4560 doesn't go past the $80 us range I'll stick with it. if not i'll go with something else.

Hey there guys. So I'm jumping on that G4560 this week and wanted to know which MOBO should I use. Newegg has the chip at $65 so I'm getting it before any possible price hikes. Thinking about pairing it with a 1060GTX.

Where else but Smiley's (Amazon.com)?

I'm looking hard at it as a step-up from my G3258 because it has that one feature my '58 lacks (HTT) and (unfortunately) the three games I'm looking hard at ALL require that feature - so, it's either this or an i3.

Yup, looks like the price at places like Newegg has dropped back down to the $65'ish range, in stock. Damn good price. Lots of Youtube reviews pairing it with a 1050 Ti / 460 / 470 I think.

Would it be a waste of money if I went with that 1060 instead of a 470 or 1050ti?

Depends on what you are paying. Right now, I did a four-item sample wishlist @ the Egg, but had to substitute the G4620 (because the '60 was OOS - again) - but STILL came in sub-$500USD, and that includes the EVGA GTX1050Ti SSC with the ACX 3.0 cooler in the longer length and 16GB of Vengeance DDR4 (2x8GB). The four items is because that will be all that is NOT carryable over - everything else (drives, OS, and case) is carryable over. While the G4620 (like the G4560) supports HTT, it's still $20USD pricier, so it's not the steal compared to the i3 that the '60 is.
