Help for a Mac to PC Convert

Ok, last question (probably not though), would it be possible to run OSX lion on my new PC and be able to switch back and forthe between lion and win. 7? I just want to know if I can go back to my comfort zone if needed. It would be like buying a really good MacBook pro for really cheap. Blasphemy, I know.

Sorry, not allowed to discuss that here on the forums as it may get HardOCP in some legal troubles with Apple.

Do you have any suggestions on when to buy? I mean, are there any specific times when most sites have sales or deals?

Also, would it be cheaper to buy the windows OS from somewhere else and order the sager without it?

Probably not: Sager is offering $80 to add the OS. Normal price for the OEM version of Windows is $100. Unless you're a college student, really no way to get Windows cheaper than a $100.

I mean until I need a new laptop. When the laptop becomes frustratingly slow and hard to use.

I can't answer thats as that's user dependent. Meaning that it comes down how your needs and wants may or may not change over time and how well you maintain the laptop.. You might suddenly want more performance which means that system might not last that long.

Where should I buy from? I can find it for around $1185 at xoticpc.com, but I was ordering if there's somewhere cheaper?

Yeah, I did. Xoticpc's base price is a little but cheaper, but with everything configured, it's $1187. And also, I configured this HP for fun, to see if I could get near the same specs but a little bit cheaper how does it look? Really, how does it compare to the sager?

The HP is slower than the Sager in the GPU department by about 30%. The HP also has a lower resolution. But it comes with a slightly extended warranty. Up to you if the extra costs of the Sager is worth the 30% performance you're gonna get.

Skyrim on a $1k notebook? I can't see it being funny or pretty! =s
If you want to play it properly and not change your note for the next year or so, a gtx570 is the minimum. MSI have some pretty nice notes, some models with gtx570 i5/i7 and 15" screens. Lower price I found was $1.3k. If you want a ssd, then it will up for like a $1.5k. Think better if you rly wanna save like $200. I rly don't think its worth it. If you want a nice gamming experience, you need better, otherwise you will not have fun gaming, only stress about your too slow note ;s

You think that the 560M is gonna be too slow? Looked up some stats, and it said that skyrim would run on higher settings with it. With an i7. I'll probably just end up getting the sager and wait for a deal.

I disagree with Dreadlokz's assessment. Especially considering he recommended a desktop GPU.

So basically the Sager is the way to go. I just need to pay a little bit more for what I get.

Ok, are there usually sales? And what about buying used off of ebay?
There are sales from time to time, atm what i think its going is differed shipping, its like $50 savings, etc. But there is no way of knowing whats coming or if its going to be better or worst. Buy it from an autorized resellers, like

GentechPC - my usual, ken is great to deal with.
Powernotebooks
XoticPC
Malibal

What would you recommend of those Malibal laptops? They don't have the sager.
Sager is just a rebrand from Clevo, Malibal brands them as their own, but its the same thing to what i know, but cross check it to be sure.

Ok, so why is clevo more expensive on avadirect than the sager everywhere else? Are there any wholesale options?

Ok, so I've decided on the Sager 8131 from xoticpc. Do I need the i7 or can I still game well with the i5? Will the i5 play skyrim and just cause 2?

The i5 can be enough for Skyrim and JC2. However, if you want high FPS or settings, go for the i7 as both games are multi-core aware.

Ok, and should I buy both of them off of steam, for the mods and updates? Can I play both games on steam without Internet connection (when traveling, etc.)?

I can also save $50 if I get this: 8GB - DDR3 1333MHz Dual Channel Memory (4 SODIMMS) - SPECIAL!
Instead of this: 8GB - DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory (2 SODIMMS)
Worth it?
