I understand why they are doing rolling beta invitations, but why not limit the number of pre-order boxes and let them in immediately, and just do rolling invites for the people who didnt get the pre-order box.

I Just feel like, I went and pre-ordered for no reason, as I might not even get into the beta. They say, the pre-orders have first shot at getting into the beta, but inside the box it says Beta ends October 7th. Today is the 1st, and I am still not in the Beta.

I am getting sick of these games offering beta invitations with pre-order, and not following through. Change the print on the box to: Higher Chance of Beta Invite.

Inside the box they didnt even include a disc, and I understand why, but it would have made more sense to at least give a version of the game with the pre-order, and make it patchable once we get in.

They have already said that the beta is going past the 7th and as close to launch as they can make it. It is shitty that they were unclear as to what the beta invite really was, but you will get to play in it.

Don't worry about it. Once you get your beta key, just create an account. They have been granting access to people at about 5pm PST every day. You will get in soon enough. The Oct 7th date is bogus as well. That was a best guess by them and they have stated they will keep the beta going longer.

The big waves of invites are now over as most that really wanted in and had pre-ordered a while ago, got in already.

Uhh, it is implied when you preorder that you will get in the beta once it starts, not eventually. If they were not going to let everyone in when the preorder beta starts, like just about every single other preorder beta, they should have said so.

I never rant, ever. So to automatically shove me into their catagory is unfair. What I stated was, they should never imply instant access, and not grant it. If it said, "Beta Invite Guaranteed, we will be granting access in waves. Invitations to subscribers will be sent twice a week based off of pre-orders and non pre-orders." I wouldn't have complained.

It is just not right how almost all of the newer games that have pre-orders and offer beta invites dont grant them as implied.

But to call people a bunch of whiny bitches is not right either. And you sarcasm was unnecessary.

But other than that, thanks for the information.
 
Also, I pre-ordered and registered the day Game Stop had them in stock. I have a buddy who works there and he called me when he recieved the box with the pre-order packages.

So to say they have invited everyone that had it since the beginning is a little off.

How many betas have you been a part of? Most betas are done in waves.

And yes they are getting people in, but they appear to be doing daily authorizations not instant ones. Probably good reasons for this.

As for pre-ordering implying beta access, not implied, they are stating it. But there is a process around it. I had one of the longer waits for beta access and it wasn't bad, like 5 days.
 
Yes most beta's are in waves...preorders usually all get in on the same date. This has been my experience with several beta's.

This has been my experience as well. I have never heard of beta invites being offered for pre-order that weren't instant. Having waves for closed beta and open beta are fine, but if you are offering beta access as a pre-order incentive it should be ready to play as soon as you get home, or at least on a pre-announced date when all the pre-orders get to play. Letting some pre-order people in while making others wait makes no sense.

My point with that statement is basically I am tired of people that bitch about stuff and have an unrealistic time line for when they want something. This sense of entitlement is freaking nuts and pisses me off.

the game sucks anyways. they are going to have a lot of disappointed people that were hoping for a game as good as or better then diablo 2, when October 31st comes around.

Oh yeah they already said that they wont delay the game for anything.

My advise is dont bother playing it for the first 3-4 months until they get it together.

Had people saying this while I was in WoW closed beta. I thought it was rather interesting now since they have around 9 million subscribers worldwide (according to Wikipedia).

When I play it, I will make my own decision.
 
Just for refrence i always thought wow was awsome and I've played it since early bata. Though I dont play it anymore as of about 2-3 months ago
 
I just dont listen anymore when someone says a game sucks. I remember when Diablo2 came out and I heard a bunch of people in EBGames talking about Diablo2 sucking, and not being even close to diablo1. Well, I bought Diablo 2 and continued to play it for 4 years (through LoD). Stopped after 1.10 and made a few short stints after. Try the game, if you hate it, thats ok, but the next 10 people might not.
 
I too am still waiting for my pre-order beta invite to show up in my email. :(

Good to hear that the beta is still going past the 7th of October so when we do eventually get it we can try it out for a longer period of time. I also agree that the underhandedness in which the pre-order and beta invite was described was a bit misleading.
 
well I should add that the game is worth playing through. but I dont think it will have the replayablity of diablo 2. The skill system and items just arnt as indepth as diablo 2's were.
 
I was one of the fortunate ones to pre-order this game a while ago, have been playing for a few weeks now, and I definitely think (as I did when I first heard about the game) that it has loads of potential.

I think that as in any game of this genre, the end game and replay-ability will be the determining factor of this game's success, and nobody outside of FSS knows what that is like yet.
 
I'm in the beta now. There's a thread going that some of the players want the NDA lifted so we can share our Screen's & other info with communities such as this. Some of the higherups have responded to that thread & are considering it. So sit tight. Got plenty of screens to show you guys (1920 x 1200) so ya can get a good idea how it looks.

I pre Ordered it yesterday, and signed up for the Beta, but still haven't received anything to DL it yet.
 
I'm in the beta as well, Shacknews hit the nail on the head with their impressions.
 
How long does it take for the beta DL client to be e-mailed to you?

My 7th day is tomorrow, but that's including Saturday and Sunday. :(

It's been mentioned multiple times in this thread, as well as other sources (including the official Hellgate: London website) that the October 7th "end date" is false and that they will keep it going until as close to the official release date as they can get.

So, we still have plenty of time (I'm waiting on my acceptance, as well... I pre-ordered the game on Sunday, got the initial beta invite message yesterday, set up my beta account and am now waiting for them to activate my account and allow me to download the latest beta build...)
 
I preordered, and it took me a couple of days to get my key. Just installed last night. I'll talk about my impressions when I can.
 
Just got my pre-order pack with the wasp dye. It would be nice to get into the beta, but with Crysis, TF2 and Halo 3 I'm sure I can wait a week or two.
 
The beta invites go out in waves. If you just bought the game and are in be glad, sounds like some ordered a long time ago and are still not in.

if you have your code tho you should be able to get on the forums i thought?

Nope, I have my code and cant get onto the forums at all. Tells me I cant even log in fully.

You can't access anything (servers or forums) until you get an email titled "Welcome to the Hellgate: London Beta". The email will say:

"Welcome to the Hellgate: London Beta Test!
The servers are up and your account should be ready to use."

This is AFTER you've registered on the site and get an email saying "Hellgate: London Beta Account Confirmation".
