hehe. Nvidia powerpoint presentation on crossfire...

yikes...

If all of that is true then there is no doubt that NVIDIA's SLI tech is WAY WAY more practical and well thought out than Crossfire. ATi is losing...badly...

well it is all true...it's just a little exaggerated...of course...personally I think SLi is looking way better than CrossFire...but in the end...all the marketing and paper specs don't matter...the gaming experience itself has yet to be evaluated...

At this point even though I like ati I wish they would just go out of business so there won't be any more crap to deal with

Rofl... sounds like the lot of you guys are buying into that too...

Besides they're comparing X850 gen to 7800GTX gen... wtf do you expect's gonna happen?

Wait for it to come out...

Are you people morons?!

They are comparing 7800GTX SLI with previous technology such as the X850. We'll se nVidia talk once the R520 crossfires are out.

That said, nVidia's SLI technology did come out to be the first multi-GPU rendering, but ATI's crossfire offers the use of different X800 and X850's combos and X1800's. It also offers 3 different modes of multi-GPU rendering.

Then again, we'll have to wait and see nVidia's SLI2.

P.S. That is a really bad render cutout on that first slide. It doesn't look that nVidia did that. It looks like a 5yr old at home that new to PS did it.

LOL - glad to see Nvidia has a good sense of humor. Too bad most of it is right one.....

The part about the chipset isnt so dumb, wheres the ati chipset boards ? Theyre not superior than the nforce4, (Im basing this on the AT article on the grouper board) and are priced like premium.

The only problem with that is when there is no competition, prices go up.....No reason to stay competitive when you have no competitor :)

If half the stuff in those slides is correct....
This is worse than NV30....more like 3dfx voodoo 5 snafu.

Those don't look like they were made by Nvidia, the chick on the front was lassoed like a 16 year old did it while sniffing coke. Still, I think ATi needs some ice because they just got BURNED!.

I don't really care either way about crossfire or sli because when it comes down to getting another video card I never really think about a multi-gpu setup. Although if the r520 doesn't beat the 7800gtx I wouldn't suspect a r520 multi gpu solution to beat 2 gtxs.

Probably the most ignorant thing I have read on these forums in a long time.

I think everyone is looking at the crossfire stuff...not the x850 vs 7800 stuff...

Nothing could be as bad as NV30...this is getting close though...

at least this can render stuff correctly..

NV30 was just... *shudder*

Are you sure about that? Theres been more than one SM 3.0 game patched for Ati's new hardware to deal with artifacts.

FarCry
Earth 2160

"There is no crossfire in the market. The infidels have launched on paper"

Look at Nvidia grabbing for excuses.

we talking about R520?

thats normal. Far Cry had to be patched to work wtih the 6 series too. im talking about the entire line of the NV30 - it never worked right in Far Cry, there was weird rendering crap on teh floors and stuff.

Errrrr ATI does not have a SM3.0 part on the market.

that's the truth though.

----------

Although I just don't beleive that this was done by nvidia. There's no way they would diss ATI like that b/c they would get their asses sued before they can pull up their pants after all that crap.

I think it is made up.

Neither nvidia or ATI ever even seems to say each other's names! It's always, "the competition." And there are no trademark disclaimers when they say ATI so basically it CAN'T be done by nvidia since no company is that DUMB. You always need to say that stuff is a registered trademark of blah blah blah.... Even on my Marshmellow Maties (walmart value brand) cereal bag it asterisks Lucky Charms and says that it's a registered trademark.

Far Cry needed patching for both companies' cards  .

Ever try running Far Cry without patching to 1.3? Yeah, it looks like shit.

Yes Ive played it with 1.1 1.2 and 1.3 I saw no differences in 1.2 and 1.3. 1.1 had those partial precision shaders for the fx series and yes they looked crappy.

yea most of that stuff is just propaganda BUT
the bit about X-fire not letting you run at higher then 1600x1200@60Hz thats not good
sure its fine if you have an LCD but if you have a CRT that just sucks even crapy CRTs can do atlest 75Hz at 1600x1200 :(

i like the subliminal "ENTHUSIASTS DON'T BUY OUT OF DATE HARDWARE" on the bottom of one of the slides :)

rofl. I think Colin Powell made this presentation.

Didnt mean to derail this post. Sorry.
Back to this topic, A good LCD will cast you what upwards of $700 right?
A large nice CRT can be had for much less. There are also tons of crt's out there.
This is a lame oversight by ati and makes crossfire look like a hack job. (at least for the x8 series) they surely didnt countinue this with the r520 series of cards. 1600x1200 @ 60HZ my eyes hurt just thinking about it.

Yeah I have a Mitsubishi DiamondPro 2070SB - 22" CRT

I play most games at 1600x1200 @ 100hz (or higher if I can). Gaming at 60hz (or pretty much anything at 60hz) sucks on a CRT. Nor would I want to spend $800+ on video cards just to have them not support the native res of a future LCD.
