Hard Reset - PC Exclusive FPS

Game play was fun. Kind of a cross between Bulletstorm and Quake. Not nearly as sophisticated as Bulletstorm, but fun just the same. And graphics aren't great, but I've seen far worse looking games run like crap. This one runs great. I also like it's style.

LOL! I can't believe they only want $27 for THIS!

It looks gorgeous, sounds gorgeous, plays great, runs smooth as butter. If you want old school style FPS in some new school trappings here you have it.

I can't add much to the effusive praise that's already been said in this thread except to say that this is the kind of release that puts developers on notice.

I've bought too many games at $50 and more that had less going for them then this thing does. It's insane.

I'm genuinely astonished. Needless to say the second I was done with the demo I purchased the full game.

I will buy this, it is plain fun! Right price too. Edit: I did buy it.

6950's
Frames @ 1920 x 1200
41.2 min
213.1 max
78.8 avg.
Quailty: Ultra
MLAA: On

Had some odd crossfire behavior in benchmark, some runs only 70% utilization, other times 93%.

has the developer mentioned how long the full game will be?

Thought it was alright. Just didn't grab me the same way Painkiller did.

I cant believe that so many people are happy with this game. I tried the demo and had to stop playing a little over half way into it because of how generic that it felt. The shooting mechanics/game play felt very generic and good aim isn't as rewarding as it should be (from what I've seen head shots don't do bonus damage).

The storyline seems like its very lackluster to me and most of the enemies in the demo had the same look to them. The only thing that I liked in this game was the ability to buy upgrades for your weapons and armor. If you guys think that this game is good you should give Bioshock a whirl. Bioshock outclasses this game in every way possible (judging from the demo) and adds spells into the mix a long with an amazing storyline.

Disagree totally with the guy above...

Just got min 26, max 66 avg 45 frames on the built in benchmark on the rig in my sig. :-D

Hard Reset = balls-to-the-wall FPS like Painkiller & Serious Sam
BioShock = thinking man's FPS like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series & System Shock 2

I need not say more

when did Bioshock get spells?...plasmids aren't spells

Newsflash: metal robots don't have heads to shoot. If there are some with heads in the full game, you can use the railgun or otherwise, to blow those off.
The shooting felt great to me - plenty of satisying blasting, and variety in enemies and ammo management enough for the shooting to be exciting instead of mindnumbing.

You don't know anything about the storyline yet, except you play a guy killing robots in human city. I like the dystopian robot setting more than Rapture (subjective) and Hard Reset can potentially have a better story (Bioshock had a captivating story, but it can only get so many points since it was ripped directly from System Shock 2). Also, Bioshock was console-port galore, a good example on how not to make a proper PC version of a game, when it came out - part of the attraction of Hard Reset for me at least, is the focus on PC

I downloaded the demo. Liked it a lot. Performance is excellent. Options are all there. Game is Hor+... the left most status circle gets a little blown up on 3 monitors, but it's fine. The cutscenes are cut off as well. If they fix these little blemishes they're on my favorite devs list!

Set the refresh rate to 120Hz, set the Reduce Input Lag option to the recommended disabled setting for SLI/Crossfire machines and shutdown all of my browsers and the results yielded much better performance, everything at max @ 5760x1080:

I remember the Painkiller demo, it about made me slap a mammal sideways with a wet towel.

fucking medium @1024x768 for this. I don't give a half a fuck. shits good!
mmm I want to feel the railgun, bet it tastes like clukken.

The game performs very well, it handles very well, and it seems fun. The demo is far too short, think the length of the Bulletstorm demo. But, I can appreciate a game well designed with an emphasis on controls and shooting. I wouldn't mind a well tested multiplayer patch later down the road.

I'm not dissapointed.

never played the bulletstorm demo...fuck epic lolzmao
don't care

Minimum: 24
Maximum: 95.3
Average: 52.5

Max in-game settings
1920x1200
Q6600
AMD 5830
8GB Ram

Wow, I got 42.9 average FPS on my rig, and my system is very similar to yours (4 GB of RAM and a 5850).

I wonder what my laptop will get when I get it back from RMA.

too busy playing Deus Ex Human Revolution to try the demo but it sounds like most people really enjoyed it...will most likely purchase the game over the weekend

Yeah, I played the demo and it does feel a lot like Painkiller or SS or Quake...Kinda fun for a bit but gets repetitive rather quickly, as did those other titles. Graphics are nice, though...I like to see new engines appear that have kickass graphics and run well (i.e. Serious Sam engine back in the day)

Getting a ton of visual problems in the demo rendering it unplayable. Using the latest drivers on AMD's site with a 6950.

If it's the black bars all over the screen I had that to. Disable any AA or AF you might be running in CCC to resolve.

No support for crossfire yet, but apparently SLI is good to go. None the less can pull a 34.5fps average on a single 5870 @ 5760x1200.

What settings are you using to get this performance? If you're maxed out and using AA that's much better than I would have expected.

Minimum FPS = 39.1
Average FPS = 61.5
Maximum FPS = 86.2
Quality = Ultra Settings

This is at 2560x1600 using a single GTX 580. Not bad at all.

ok... finally DL'd this... at 5760x1080 on "ultra" with input lag disabled and no aa or vertical sync I get (core i7 rig in sig)

min 25.6
max 101.9
avg 46

If I drop the over all quality to "high" it doesn't change much. nice visuals in this one. :)

edit: pretty fun game.... simple and pretty... love the uber destructive env. :D

I know that my system is a bit outdated (Q6600, etc.) but do you guys think it's my 4 GB of RAM that's holding me back? I'm wondering why I can't match the guy with the Q6600 and a 5830 at the same resolution/settings.

Is the other guy using faster DDR3 RAM? It may not be that you have insufficient RAM, but rather the fact that his machine has a faster memory subsystem. Are either of you overclocking?

Was not a big fan of the movement and weapon switching in the demo. Otherwise was okay. Seemed pretty easy for Insane difficulty.

Tried the game last night. It's pretty good, though not what I would call great. I'll definitely buy it but not sure I'm going to pick it up at launch. That will be reserved for Serious Sam 3. :)

Also, don't know about others, but I get better frame rates with crossfire disabled.

Looked great, ran great, sounded great. I just didn't like it. Too repetitive and the environment design/art kind of muddles together. The feel of movement and weapons reminded me a lot of UT3. I didn't care for the movement and weapon switching, either. I'm glad they released a demo for it.

The demo was alright actually, I've missed the mindless fun of blasting hordes of enemies with high tech weaponry. The game is stylish, it looks incredibly nice with a lot of detail, the blade runner feel is created very well.

It's like serious sam meets blade runner but requires a bit of extra thought because the harder parts (even on just normal setting) require you to really use the environments to your advantage like exploding barrels and whatnot.

One of it's massive strengths is that it's built for PC, it's high quality from the ground up, nice large FOV, no mouse acceleration, lots of graphics options including vsnc, AA and AF.

It basically ticks every box at www.pcgamingstandards.com which along with Deus Ex is actually very promising!

The price is very reasonable, I'll pick this up on steam for sure.
