Hard Reset - PC Exclusive FPS

I'm sure this game will be $5 on Steam within 3 months or so.

So even if it's good, I'm not buying on day 1.

This game screams Black Friday buy. It'll give me something fun to play while I recover from the previous day's turkey and stuffing gorge-fest.

I feel like buying it on Day 1 if only to support the game being a PC exclusive...that being said while $26.99 is a decent price, I feel like $19.99 would be a better price point...I'm also curious how long the game is

Argh, I want to choke totalbiscuit with his mouse cord. The game looks decent, but what a fucking terrible fps player.

Yes. I remember watching him fuck around in DNF, complaining at the linearity and shining objective objects. Then he'd get lost in a circular room and take 5 minutes to shoot open the vent. Just awful.

But Hard Reset looks awesome.

He's pretty awful in general.

just look at him...I would imagine you could find a lot to bitch about if you were
ugly as him ;)

GMG will likely have this game available for $20.40 on Monday or Tuesday.

$20 sounds great. I didn't really see much to turn me off from this game. I doubt I'll even run back to the same fluff in-game monitor to see if I've somehow magically entered a new zone seven times, either. Probably can't get lost in the same 10x10 square unless I chugged whisky from an old boot and injected crack into my eye.

But, no mouse accel? Yea, I'm game.

Totalbiscuit is cool :) Just refrain from watching him play and commentate first person shooters and puzzlers.
Watching him getting his ass handed to him in SC2 is entertaining + he uses all money generated by that livestream for professional tournaments.
The only thing I cant stand about him is the "eh" sound he utters in the end of words.

oh and Hard Reset looks great. A little too simplistic perhaps, but thats kinda the point, and the awesome setting makes up for it

Guy's if like it, buy it. Don't pirate this just because you can, support the pc exclusives especially if you liked the demo.

Lets us know how it is.
Everything I've seen shows horrible AI/dumb enemies. Please confirm this is not the case. I was very disappointed with the last video I watched.

Wow, just played the demo and I was not expecting the game would be this great.

It might be linear, but due to the level design, including the amazing visuals, and how smooth the gameplay feels, on top of the the general mechanics, it doesn't actually feel linear at all and is a lot of fun.

Almost everything is destructible, and there's actually a lot to find in the levels if you're smart and shoot just about everything you see, as it opens up areas that otherwise aren't really obvious. The devs did an excellent job with the level design from what I'm seeing, in terms of hidden areas actually being hidden and placed well, and in places that add to the aesthetic, as opposed to finding some obvious "hidden closet".

I would not say the AI is "stupid" by any means, and they react almost "realistically", from what I've experienced. They flank when you run around cars, buildings, columns etc., don't just stay shoulder-to-shoulder the whole time, and the challenge level feels good.

Music and atmosphere are truly great; very futuristic, cyberpunk, sort of dystopian feel, it's excellent.

Gameplay feels smooth and the game itself runs extremely smooth maxed-out. I'm very impressed, and very glad I pre-ordered!

It's a prime example of what truly creative people/an independent developer can do, when they put their efforts into creating something, without needing a dump truck full of money that gets wasted on frivolous, under-par shit.

P.S.
I still say this game just screams co-op, at least, especially after having played the demo. It's just the sort of environment and gameplay that just feels like you want someone else there because it's so much fun.

Dl'ing, will report back. Hopefully better than the mess that is Dead Island.

Not liking the slow movement speed, needs uppped a little imo. I didn't even make it all the way through the demo, had to end it prematurely. I was playing on Insane. The guns feel fun and the shootin lasts for a while, but it feels a little off to me personally. Constantly getting caught up on shit while trying to circle strafe is getting to me. a quick dodge ability would be pretty cool imo, like ut style. would make it a little funner to evade those big ass robots that charge you like a bull. That and the gamespeed.

I'll be playing more of it. Seems pointless to not have multiplayer for this type of game though, no?

I'll probably pick this up sometime in the near future, for right now Space Marine will probably be taking up about six months plus of my time. Once I get it, probably Friday or Saturday.

Graphics are phenomenal. Definitely next gen stuff here folks, might even make John Carmack blush alittle with Rage coming out. Textures are very high quality. Performance with defaults in control panel on a GTX 480 oc'ed to past GTX 580 speeds at 1920 is great with FXAA2 enabled. FXAA4 with vsync enabled causes some slowdowns, nothing major though. The problem I have with this game is you really don't have much to do based on this demo. There is very few enemies and they are sporadic with not much variation. I don't know if this changes throughout. Controls and physics are awesome, lighting is as well. Finally, the music is top notch. Has a very gritty futuristic score, almost in the vein of Unreal imo. The blur while running reminds me too much of Crysis and bothers me, if they include an option to disable that, appreciated.

A good one to watch for sure.

What a great demo !!! Easy on the eyes and ran like a dream with everything maxed out at 2560x1600. Even when my fps dropped below 60 the game was not laggy at all.

The weapons are too big, and I still say this having tried it now (so not just based on screens). I want to see more of the game world, which is well done.

Game is more about situational awareness and tactics than twitch shooting. The fun part is using combo tactics with the weapons. For instance the NRG (? electrical orb weapon) can be upgraded to a grenade launcher that shoots an orb which continually radiates electricity and another that is a stasis field, combo these for fun. You can't dodge around frantically since you don't move that fast, it is more about timing and managing your dodges using sprint, or you need to read movements more in advance.

The weapon mechanics I feel are very good. People might complain about the semi universal ammo situation (there is only 2 types of ammo basically), but this lets you be more focused on using the weapon you want without ammo limitations. It also keeps the pacing better since you don't need to stop to use some sort of ammo dispenser, since you pick everything up on the go. Yet having the split does make it more interesting that just 1 universal ammo.

Not really sure how the Health system works exactly. Health doesn't regenerate, but your shields do. Shields however don't block all damage, it seems to function more like the "armor" of older FPS games. I can't tell you exactly how the mechanics work though.

Map design would be similar to something like say Crysis 2 with secret areas thrown in.

Cover wasn't a factor at all in the demo. But all the enemies were melee based.

Graphics are phenomenal. Definitely next gen stuff here folks, might even make John Carmack blush alittle with Rage coming out. Textures are very high quality. Are you sure it has FXAA options? I only see options for MLAA, FSAA2 and FSAA4.

Demo is playable at max settings at 1920x1080 with FSAA4 and x16 AF using a 2500k and GTX 560Ti (all stock). MLAA gives a ~40% performance boost however. I haven't compared MLAA to FSAA4, but I'd assume the differences are negligible.

Game is DX9, and it isn't very hardware demanding (but I disagree with this being important, high requirements shouldn't matter, just the visuals themselves). Has a Blade Runner inspired art style for environments, overall quite interesting based on what was shown and looks good. Character models however (enemies mainly) aren't as well designed and don't look special or anything.

damn talk about a short demo, holy shit. I should've just stuck with it for a minute longer earlier and I would 've completed it lol. Pretty satisfying experience on Insane. Still wish I moved a little faster. Sprinting seems to be a handicap with the blurred vision and all, I find myself never using it. Still getting stuck on shit also

Didn't really expect much from the demo but it certainly left me with good impressions from a dev I've never heard of before this. The art style is pretty nice as well.

Extremely tempted to buy this.

I saw Totalbiscuit's playthrough and read about this game before, but It wasnt until I tried the demo that I found out how good it actually is. The 2x5 gun system feels much better when you're actually using it - the graphics and the setting are amazing.

I think Ill have to jump on this

Great demo, you can definitely see the Painkiller influences. It feels like a sci-fi Painkiller brought up to modern times. You have the same linear levels, great looking graphics and art style, no need for reloading, no need for iron sights, and a large unique arsenal at your fingertips.

What really brings it all together is just how fun it is to shoot the enemies, the guns sound great and gives you a good sense of impact. I'm also liking all the particle and lighting effects, very slick and polished.

This demo was pretty fun. Something that a lot of these AAA titles fall short on; 1) A proper demo before launch, not after, 2) the demo isn't off as a beta and 3) there's actually a demo . The graphics aren't stellar, the gameplay is simple and overrall it feels like i've been taken back to the early 2000's of PC gaming, which isn't bad.

Oh and benchmark tool.

Here's what I get on my sig rig at 5760x1080 max settings MLAA, FXAA doesn't work properly, game turns into a polygon wireframe.

Looks like a good basic old school shooter, just pre-ordered on Steam.

Pretty damn fun demo. I dont normally complete demos, but i finished all 10 mins of this one. 27 bucks on Steam right now too. Very nice graphics and environments.
