Well this popped up an I think it is a great idea. I've also wanted to do this for a while.

So here is it.

I got approval from the wife to have a get together at the house. Any folder with the [H] is welcome to come. I'm thinking January after the holidays. Possibly on the 16th with the long weekend.

I want to get your input on time and any activities.

It will be in southeastern OH

I have a gill and fire pit.
The basement should do well for a good 'ol LAN party
I will make sure libations are available. (feel free to byob too)
I have a few gigabit switches that need to be tested for endurance

Let me know if you want to come, and what you want to see happen.

Woo Hoo!! You might want to have people bring any donated parts for boxen if that is still happening :D

Your going to let something like an international border get in they way of a [H]ootenanny?
Well, if you want to give me a lift down there I'd be happy to come :D. It's only a ~12 hour drive each way by my estimation...

That's a bit out of my neighborhood, but I hope you all have fun :).

yeah same here.. only a few thousand miles to far.. wish i could go so i could see what some real dedicated folding rigs looked like in person.. have fun guys and gals that go..

There a pond in the way from mine to yours and its a bit to far to swim.
Plus I work weekends.

Have a good time ........... :D

Central missouri here. It would be quite a trek for me. At least 10 hours each way. Sounds like a roasting good time though.

I think I'm a bit on the long side away. But have fun, though. It sounds like it'll be a cracker.

Georgia for me, kinda hard for a trip like that.

If you wanna boot my plane ticket there and back, with an extra seat for me to bring my rig, than I would do it in a heartbeat! :)

btw, I know you said your a good cook in another thread, you do the grill, give me supplies for the kitchen, im half italian half irish, your gonna have a good meal! :)

I could put myself in a UPS box....

Good luck, Kendrak!

Perhaps we could host one in CA, too. (I know at least 2 of us are from CA... though CA is big [vertically])

You guys act like a 10-12 hour drive is a big deal. When I was stationed at APG up in Maryland I would drive home and back on a weekend. that was about a 14 hour drive each way. I'd leave after formation on Friday and show up in time for formation on Monday morning.

Of course this was 12 years ago too. I didn't require sleep back then. :D

13-14 hour drive here for me, from Brunswick, GA to Columbus, OH

How about a 14 hour flight? :D

yeah im in crapfornia.. in the east bay..

lol its only a 38 hour drive one way for me to go to columbus, OH.. and sadly its actually cheaper to drive there then it is to fly.. not that i could afford either choice..

Cool idea, and like many others I'd be in for it if I was a bit closer. East Tennessee isn't as far as most others, but once you throw in the job, the wife and her job, plus the two kids and school I'm thinking it'll take some more logistical planning that I can manage at this time... :(

Would love to come hang out with the [H]ard crew. But alas, I live in KS and there is no way the wife would allow a cross country drive :(

I used to live out there!

I lived in Livermore/Dublin for about 8 years (middle school to the end of High school)
Monkey's right over in that area, & I'm just over the hill in Stockton - where are you at Jeremy?

Sounds like one [H]ard-ass road trip!!! :D

Unfortunately, this is the same for me. I'd love to do it but I can't. :(

It'll take a day and half to drive up there, thats without stopping.

OH. IO. !!!!!!

Hell ya! I'd have to get a few days off work but sounds good to me!

What exactly would the festivities involve? It's funny, on the Colorado forums I'm in, when we do meet ups, 8 hour drives are co sidered small

Coming from canton, but it's not too far away. Too bad it's not warm, I didn't get down to the river this year, kinda depressed about that.

And doozer, were you military? I've been usar for 3.5 years now, looking at Afghanistan in June, I love finding other folders that are service men

What are we looking at age wise here? I'd be willing to bet I'm the youngest even tho I never talk about my age on the forums

I'm thinking a good round or two of whatever game we all like.
Food food and more food.
Drinks
Music
And what ever the heck else we decide to do!

Okay screw it, I'm in.

Now, how many tamales do I need to bring? What, three, four dozen? Green chili okay? Maybe some chicken too, and I suppose a few sweet ones for desert. I'd say I'd bring the beer as well..... but it's not a good idea for digital to have beer in the car, bad things might happen... self control has always been an issue for me, so... um yeah.

Anyhow, I'm gonna need directions. I'm not too good with maps, so a turn by turn type of thing is kinda what I'm looking for here. That'll help quite a bit.

Wait.... how long does it take to drive to south eastern Ohio form the middle of the ghetto in south west Denver... and I mean the ghetto.... not the nice little suburb areas... I don't have any vacation time left and we're down to one car.... I'm kinda hoping a couple hours will get me there... never really cared much for speed limits and stuff, so I'm thinking that should help:p

Seriously, I really wish I could come, think it would be a great time, but I'm going to have to sit this one out.

Kendrak... if I remeber correctly, didn't you mention at some point that either you or your wife had relatives or something in Boulder? If so, you need to let us Colorado folk know the next time your out here.... it would be my pleasure to buy you a couple tamales and a few beers.......

Some have said I was just a noisey/nosey 12y/o, but it's really double that.

Exactly double, but for some people, that is debateable, still :(

Ya, but when I did a meet up for colly fans I was atleast 10 years the youngest, I'm only a few off kendrak here, not bad

all right...

we need a better table of our folding demographics.

The HardFolding site doesn't have anywhere near everybody.
