Sooooo.... stoked about this game! I hope the PC version is released at the same time, but im not holding my breath.
How in the Holy Hell are current generation consoles DOING THIS?!
I mean, look at this game...the draw distance, the things all going on at once...I just don't get it...GTA4 didn't look half as good as this and ran barely adequately on the consoles.
Fucking black magic I swear...only way I can explain it. I mean the GPU alone doesn't have THIS much horsepower does it? 512MB of total RAM? Like, unless the game is running at a native 640x480 and streaming constantly off the hard drive I just simply can't comprehend this...
What kind of performance are we going to see on PC? That's all I care about. Is it going to be the same engine as GTA4?
GTA5 uses Frostbite 2
Didn't they say they aren't making a PC version? Wasn't there a thread saying that?
Well to be fair consoles do get better graphics (not compared to PC) with age. Play Uncharted 1 then 2. Or Halo 3 then Halo 4. Or go as far back as Super Mario Bros. 1 to Super Mario Bros 3. Developers get better and better as time goes by and they learn the ins-and-outs of the system.
That said, I wouldn't be surprised if this was on a computer "scaled" to consoles performance. Didnt they say something like that with Watch Dogs demo?
with more pc's being able to handle gta4, even intel graphics, Rockstar would be stupid not to release this shit on PC.
One game I'm anticipating hugely, will probably earn a award like GTA IV on consoles did when it came out. I think there will also be a few month time span in the gap between the console release date and when the PC version comes out, alike the previous GTA releases, just hoping the PC release won't be a clusterfuck of a buggy game like first release GTA IV was.
GTAIV wasn't so much buggy as it was unoptimized. I've played hundreds of games more buggy than GTAIV.
Source? I can't find anything about it. Pretty sure it's either a new engine or RAGE which is what they used for GTA 4.
Hmm, I can't find it either. Maybe it was just rumor I read.
I thought buggy and unoptimized was the technically the same thing? If you have a buggy code structure with memory leaks and shit, wouldn't that mean that program will be unoptimized for this reason?
Most games you play are unoptimized. Most of the time it's because developer don't have a clear view on exactly how the technology does stuff. So they write code to get what they want that jumps through numbers of loops where as their are more efficient ways to do it where it does exactly that.
It's one reason why you see games looking better towards the end of it's life. Developers figure the ins and outs of a system, cpu or graphics card, etc and are better able to write for it.
why only xbox and ps3 ;(
They really are different things. Bugs are like glitches where you have object clip threw other objects, or obvious mess ups in the physics engine like when you have a dead body flopping around erratically stuck on somthing.
A game being unoptimized is when it takes way more power to run it than it should. On the game box Rockstar claims the recommended system requirement for a CPU is a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600. But the game runs like crap on this CPU, you really need a processor that came out years after the release of the game to be able to run it okay. And even then it's only okay performance, struggling to run 60 FPS on medium settings.
So I think it's safe to say the same was optimized for the consoles, but not optimized on the PC.
Leaks don't greatly compromise performance.I thought buggy and unoptimized was the technically the same thing? If you have a buggy code structure with memory leaks and shit, wouldn't that mean that program will be unoptimized for this reason?
It may have been like that at launch, but at least when I bought it (during this year's Steam summer sale), most of that seems to be fixed. I run med/high on a E6600 / 6770. Respectable framerates, rarely dips below 30, most of the time it's over 45. On med I can run 60 no problem. You should have mentioned resolution though, I only run on 1440x900, so that could be it.
They never said they arn't making a PC version, just that they are focusing on the console versions at this time. I for one am assuming a PC version will exist, since all past GTA games have come to PC at some point and they did such a good job on the PC version of Max Payne 3, from a technical standpointDidn't they say they aren't making a PC version? Wasn't there a thread saying that?
Whatever you are smoking, pass it around.GTA5 uses Frostbite 2
So that you can double (or triple) dip when the PC and Nex Gen versions finally come outwhy only xbox and ps3 ;(
After the 1.4.1.0 update from Rockstar, the game was more 'optimized' running a lot better compared to vanilla release for the PC.
with more pc's being able to handle gta4, even intel graphics, Rockstar would be stupid not to release this shit on PC.
I haven't seen much evidence to suggest they aren't stupid.
