The proposed Microsoft buyout of Yahoo continues to develop more twists and turns. Now it appears Google's strong revenue earnings could help Yahoo prove that there is still life in online advertising revenue. This of course strengthens their position that Microsoft is undervaluing them.

"This signals that the online advertising market is still healthy, which should help Yahoo get a better price for its company," said Peter Dunay, chief investment strategist at Meridian Equity Partners.

Raise your hand if you think the smartest thing for Microsoft to do right now is walk away from this deal. Watch as Yahoo shares plummet, and then laugh in two years when they can buy Yahoo for pennies on the dollar.
 
Microsoft needs to stop killing themselves for second place market positions. Screw yahoo, if this merger was ever going to be a success the opportune time has already passed.

Their stock price is their value. Not some fantasy of the board.

Yahoo has failed to take their hodge-podge of offerings and unify them into a well branded suite. GOOG has been great at this. MSFT has done much better recently with their "Live" suite.

Yahoo has some nice technology, but their brand is weak. Buy some web tool, slap a by "Y!" in the corner. Done. Yawn.
