So, my first idea was to buy a use Core2Quad to uppgrade her old computer but then thought, my girlfriend deserves better than that, so, here I am.


1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc

To do a $500 build, you're going to need to look for combo deals and also get the cheapest case and stuff that you can find.
 
I'm aware of that.
And I've pretty much managed that, I only need a power supply.

Unless something I've listed makes no sense at all, obviously.
 
For your resolution, you really should be aiming at the GTX 460 1GB as that extra VRAM will help out at 1920x1080.
