GFWL is the DEVIL

GFWL seems to have a hate surrounding it usually reserved for dog kickers and kiddie fiddlers but I downloaded my XBL profile back from when the 360 was still relevant and since then I don't even have to log myself in, it does it for me. I'm not defending GFWL, I'm just indifferent to it.
 
I refuse to buy any game with GFWL in it after several horrible experiences.
 
Good to see there are plenty of people out there that despise this service as much as I do.

Yeah Dirt2 for me ended up wiping my saves, I had the game complete to about 75% with 1st place in all the races, took me god knows how long (steam says 2 hours played, which is wrong) it was about 20+ hours I'd say.

I was so mad, I just uninstalled the game, where possible I now replace GFWL with a hacked version to get rid of the dependency.
 
i don't mind gfwl as it's nice to add to my xbox gamerscore with some pc games. but i agree that it absolutely sucks for dirt 2. i have it tied to my account, but for my wife to play it with her gfwl account, i had to buy another copy of the game. fortunately it was only $5 on sale at direct2drive, but that's besides the point.
 
I purchased Red Faction 2 on steam a few months back and it took me hours to get the GFWL crap sorted out.
 
How bout this im playing 3v3 in DOW2 and my team is winning were about more than half way through the match and - games for windows live a sign in change has occurred, i get booted to the main menu! why why why! FUCK GFWL!

Most of the issues with steam games and GFWL is that the edition contained with the games usually installs into some obscure folder, and then it tries to update, and surprisingly can't find the folder. I've seen that with all the games i've got with this, service on it. The easiest solution is usually to either go and download the latest GFWL client from ms, or to install the one you find in the games install folder in steamapps/common. Still way more painful then it should be.
 
You have more than one login/email address? whatever for? I have all mine on one account, and they all work great.
 
I spent 30 minutes updating GFWL too many times, and logging in, after I bought Batman AA in the last steam sale. It is a very inconvenient program as you are going to open and close the game and computer multiple times for it to install proberly. The only use I can see for the current version is for consolers to hoard more pointless achievements
 
That really sucks. And if you downloaded it again from a torrent site, some anti-piracy group would add that to the "pirated" total.
