there's no shortage of tension on your first playthrough, it's a very good game. i wouldn't exactly call it scary though at any parts.

That's what I was thinking. I'm sure this is a great game but this is not Resident Evil. It's a simple shoot em up game like Gears of War, nothing more. Like I've already said, I sure hope 6 goes back to Survival Horror.

Its cause the RE series has moved from the mystery too. Now were fighting them. Its why all the games have become more action. Design choice said in an interview somewhere.

I've noticed changing the Stereo option in the config.ini from off to on, will cost you about 5fps on average. Also changing the HDR from low to high doesn't seem to have any effect on performance whatsoever nor any really noticeable difference in the visuals. The overall quality option shows up as custom, but the change seems nonexsistent.
The people with 4800's getting terrible framerates on part 3, I just want to say that is really weird. My framerate doesn't plummet like that at all during that section. I'm using 9.6cats.

Going from no AA to max 16XQ. I dropped from 92 to 68 FPS. Seems pretty reasonable and optimized.
Weird question ... does image shack automatically provide you with thumbnails or do you have to make them?nice graphics nice framerate but TERRIBLE gameplay, man this not resident evil this is serious sam 2 with zombies and friendly AI in third person view

The dogs look cool, I can't really call them cerberus's, they look more like black labs lol. Not very menacing looking. Much better than the seemingly generic and sparse dogs that were in re4.

I get pretty crappy frames with my 4890 compared to people with nvidia cards. I'm pretty sure my system isn't the problem either...

Any reason why your are running it with 8xaa? That's most definitely killing your framerate, probably as much as 15 to 20 fps. Anything more than 4x imo is just overkill anyway, unless you are playing an older game and you want to crank everything up and performance is not an issue.
But that still wouldn't explain the incredibly low fps during the 3rd section.
This is what my scores average out to with my 4870. plus or minus a few

Downloading now, going to test it at 5040x1050. We'll see if the game's FOV is hor+ or vert-.

Really, this imo points more to something being broken more than bias, despite it having an nvidia logo.
ATI performed very well in DMC4, so the mysterious performance plummet leaves one wondering. I am sure either Capcom or ATI will get it worked out.

Ran about 30FPS all the way through, looks amazing.

Didn't you RE5 whingers play RE4 at all? The main flaw to RE5's gameplay is it hasn't evolved from RE4 besides co-op... not because "omg it's soooo totally different that it's not Resident Evil anymore!!!"

Capcom signing a paper doesn't mean they had anything to do with porting it on a technical level which is what people are pissed about. Capcom didn't even publish the game ffs. If anything Ubisoft is to blame for letting a shitty port out.

It's not an alarming rate. It's when it makes sense i.e. bug fixes required or new games are released. Benefits of the TWIMTBP program no doubt. Having to wait a month to get working drivers for a new game, was never a good solution. Don't really understand why AMD sticks with it...

Anyone have any dual GTX 295's @ 2560x1600 that have ran this benchmark? I'm curious if even 2xAA is possible at a steady average of 60fps. I was running 2xAA at the mid-high 40's on my setup listed in my sig.

Don't worry most of those drivers that they have been pumping out aren't very stable. It has been months since Nvidia has released a truly solid driver.
I never played RE4 since I don't own a console anymore and I loved Resident Evil when I was younger. I played the hell out of the first Resident Evil, it was truly original and was actually scary. What is cooler than walking around in a Mansion loaded with zombies with very little ammo?

Was sort of disappointed. Hopefully it's just a driver issue, as with every option on as high as it could go @1920x1200, I was getting 31-33 fps. Mind you, it never dropped below 31, but it never went above 33 either. And my video card fans were very quiet, so it didn't sound like it was trying as hard as it could.

Area 3, of the benchmark, really slowed down my system. Perhaps it is this ATI crossfire bug which was mentioned in this thread.
I ended up with a "B" ranking with 2x AA everything maxed at 1920x1200 and a "C" ranking with 8xAA.

I'll probably wait till [H] does a review before I go out and buy another 295. If I can find a dual card one for that matter anyway.
Try to run in DX9 - I didn't get any dips below 60 in DX9, but my results look just like yours in DX10 (Single 4890, Windows 7 RC)

Personally I'm with you...the 'flaw' I mentioned is a bit of a stretch in my opinion, but it's the most often cited con to most reviews. Being able to move while aiming would've been nice, though.

Resident Evil 4 was original too (it came out years before Gears of War and was apparently a major gameplay influence for GeoW) and gave the franchise the good hard kick in the pants that it needed. RE's horror switched from cheap jump-scares to a constant sense of tension resulting from crowds of enemies that can get you at any point in the map. RE5 didn't move away from that very much at all, although I'm sure people are pissy that there are *gasp* daylight levels now.
