It apparently uses DX10 and I ran the benchmark with vsync on and a fixed framerate and got an average of 58FPS so this game is a little more demanding than SF4 or DMC4 I suppose. The cut scene from the town assembly looks much better (rendered real-time) and I've always thought that the cut scenes from the 360 version were pre-recorded but I'm not 100% sure on that. It didn't look like they were using a mouse for the demo, it looked like AI might've been playing; I just wouldn't get my hopes up on the mouse support.

Based purely on the benchmark:
Zombies prefer to stand still and get shot to death.
People with controllers cannot aim.
Graphics consist of low res textures.
Same animations used again and again.
Zombies can now speak and enjoy spending their afternoons catching up with old friends.

I think that's all. :)

I haven't seen any system requirements posted for this but I figure they'll be just slightly higher than SF4 since there's more happening on screen.

runs pretty smooth...

graphic is out of my expectation, I said they did really good this time...

same as DMC 4, both feature DX9 and dx10

Oh wait, developers from Capcom forgot to ask you on how to make their game...
If you would have a head on your shoulders i think you would notice, it's an AI... not a recording.
Umm... you didn't played the 360/PS3 versions. Pointless.
Again, devs forgot to ask you on how to make the game.
If you would have ANY knowledge on the RE franchise you would know they are not zombies. Pointless talk.

Anyway, back on topic.
Game runs silky smooth, but without Vsync there tears here and there. Capcom did an impressive job on making RE5 for PC. The little details like detecting the speed of your CPU, I think that was a nice touch :) And settings are all in the game. Curious how the aiming going to be.

I didn't even know this was coming to PC so soon, at all really. Downloading now. I am getting excited for this game, and the responses here seem really encouraging.

There was a thread about this on another site, and most nvidia users were getting double the fps of ati users with similar specs.

This runs way worse for me than sf4 does. I had to drop down the aa to 2x to get 60fps (4870 1gb). Area 3 gets horrible fps for some reason. Apparently those ugly, blurry explosions are really hard to render.

I'm getting exactly the same FPS in DX9 and DX10. Can't notice any IQ difference either.

perhaps I spoke to soon. I too also have a 4870, 512 though. Download is just about finished, I'll find out soon enough.

Not sure about ATI strange...
With my system unlocked FPS with no Vsync @ 1680x1050 8XAA with everything on Hight + Motion Blur I get 100-120s. With Vsync on i get 60-59.9 ofcoarse without any dips, game looks much better with Vsync... cuz the tears are horrible one this one.

Try changing the driver or wait for the new revision.

That sounds about in line with what I said earlier. Your specs are identical to mine (q6600, 4gigs) except for the card. And at 1920x1200 I would have to turn aa off completely to get over 100fps. And I'm sure area 3 will still be in the 30s for whatever reason.

I was hoping someone would take my post seriously. Thanks! And I agree, Capcom should definitely ask me first before making games.

My results: I was dipping below 30 FPS on the Fixed test and had fairly steady 59 FPS in the Variable test. All settings on high, 2xAA, 1920x1200, DX9. All in all, completely playable for me. Capcom does a good job with their benchmarking programs for their games.

I maxxed out the game and it runs very very smoothly. [DX10 C16XQ AA]
Looks great too imo.

Wow, it seems Capcom has really learned their lesson after that god-awful shitty RE4 port.

Both SF4 and RE5 getting early benchmark releases is great. They have done a really good job on the SF4 port.

Sigh if people only did some research before posting this.

Haha nicely said... almost any 2nd post about RE4 PC, people think it was ported by Capcom.

Capcom didnt port it, but they are the ones who appointed SourceNext to do it and are ultimately responisble for how it turned out. As I said before, I'm glad Capcom has learnt their lesson.

I never said Capcom ported it, it would be nice if people read posts properly before jumping on them.

Looks great and runs great also. I averaged 49.9 fps at 1280x1024 (17 inch moniter) 4xAA. Dropped to the 30's at various points, still totally playable. There is also mouse support for the menus, yay.
Does this use UE3? It seems very reminiscent of GeoW...the somewhat monotone color scheme and even the blood splatter is similar.

Will definitely buy. Capcom was cool enough to take the time and build this for us. I assume it will have x360 support out of the box, should be great

Hmm, I wonder about mouse support, though. This game actually has a mouse cursor so they might have properly incorporated it.

My benches with everything maxed, vsync off.

This is Capcom's own game engine.

nice graphics nice framerate but TERRIBLE gameplay, man this not resident evil this is serious sam 2 with zombies and friendly AI in third person view :(

Anyone with ati crossfire getting terrible FPS on the 2nd benchmark?

yeah, I have problem with it too...

I have not yet tested on GTX 295, I'll be testing later to see the result with Multi-GPU on this game....

Also, food for thought, in the config.ini file in Documents, HDR is set to Low by default and AF seems to be 16x by default as well.

I set HDR to "High" and my average FPS dropped by about 10, however I wasn't paying enough attention to check if the IQ difference was worth it (too lazy right now, maybe later!).

That is the worst logic I have ever heard.

Capcom never made any mistakes that they should have "learned" from. RE 4 was a PS2 port and RE5 andd SFIV were both made first on PC. Which do you think is easier? They probably had someone else work on it because of time constraints or lack of man power.

Runs very well on my GTX 260.

Can anyone comment on how it manages on a 4850? It seems to me like one area of the test has problems with ATI cards?

Either way, I'm sure FPS will be going up further as ATI and Nvidia get their latest drivers out with all sorts of driver hax.

These two work hand in hand. You have to make the zombies completely stupid if they are within a few feet of the user to allow them to be headshot'ed. The developers are throwing the baby out with the bath water. Thank goodness that RE6 is going to be a franchise reboot because I want survival horror and not action adventure.

1920x1080 with 4x AA. Here's the issue. After the first two scenes the fps absolutely plumets. Occurs in both dx9 and dx10, but however in one run with dx10 the 4th scene had normal fps. 3rd scene seems to always have incredibly low fps.

AWESOME!!!..I got an S rating maxed out DX10 avg 115.9fps with SLIAAx8..rig in sig..Pretty sweet..Also in the config.ini,it recognizes my i7 and SLI setup..Great job Capcom!!

UPDATE..Ran the benchie again with task manager running. All cores ~50-60% usage...Nice!!

Well as the old saying goes. If you want the job done right, do it yourself :)

Sounds logical to me

Sure, they probably did outsource the port due to time constraints or lack of man power. So, the responsibility for quality control would fall into the hands of the publisher. In this case, Ubisoft.

I guess I'm just glad to see Capcom is handling their multi-platform titles inhouse. The difference really shows.

I just watched a couple of youtube videos of RE5 gameplay and how can they call this Resident Evil?

Yup I'm getting crap framerates in the third test with my 4870x2 as well. Everything else is pegged at 60fps with vsync on. Guess we'll have to wait for a driver update or something...
