Is General Mayhem comming back??? I see that is is listed at the bottom of the page...
 
Um..i think it would be best to rename the off topic discussion to something else like [H]ard Talk or something gay like that.

being n00bie isn't too bad, you'll get over that some day. (well, i suppose some people don't), but anyway. General mayhem used to be a forum here on the [H] until it just got way too out of line and Kyle did what was best at the time, and gave it the axe. Since then, these forums have attracted a much more mature crowd (thankfully). I have been glad GenMay has been gone, personally. I didn't miss it at all.

HardForum used to have an open topic forum. It was a blast, we had a GREAT TIME with it. It started getting very big and abuse of the forum started being so frequent that it became a full time job for many to try and keep control. After months and months of this, it got to be such a problem that it started to negatively impact HardOCP and my personal life. So I got up one morning and deleted the whole thing without any more warnings for folks to act right.

I think the best analogy I have thought is this: General Mayhem was like a huge kickass party....that was at your house every night.....and every single night some got broken, puked on, or simply violated by an uninvited guest. I finally decided to stop having the party at my house.

Continuing that...so some guys went and founded GenMay as a fully separate, unaffiliated forum that caters to 13 year old horn dogs.

While HardForum certainly fathered that forum, and a few others, we have no control over anything that happens there.

Ive been a lurker here for a year and a half, only a poster for a year.. i dont remember GenMay being part of hardocp, so that must have been wayyy before my time. I think it would be cool to have an off topic forum though..

If it makes it back, it will not be a cesspool of spam. If the 33 second post rule bothers you, then likely the new General Mayhem would not be for you.

ditto's , i'm gonna frequent here more often as in the dyas of yore if genmay comes back.
 
naturally its easier to post in an off topic sort of forum, with only limited sections based on computers its sorta hard to post often.
 
A open topic forum would be nice. Spam anywhere is not welcome.. once again, i wasnt here to see how it was in the "good ol' days", but how long ago was it when the first GenMay was nuked?

a little under 2 years ago i think july 5th 2002 was that horrible day?
 
I think many of us like to remember General Mayhem for the pre-cesspool days. God we had a good time....
 
The general mayhem section is before my time, but having visited what the spin off site has become, I wonder at the desire to bring it back. A much more useful section to bring back would be "Web linkage worth clicking"

I wasted massive time in there... always good for a laugh.

The other genmay has become a little... retarded, especially recently with Face and the whole "OMG look at us we're cool on the internet krew"
