GeForce Experience Beta

I'm a little suprised by this thread. Took me all of 10 seconds to read the game detection prompt that said, if your game was not found check preferences to add the directory. I just added the hard drives and it found every game on their list that I had installed.

This has the making of a great app. Looking forward to the updates. I've already had a few forum friends install it for PS2 and it assisted them. Now to just get customized settings as some of the recommendations are just bonk (does anyone actually play in Full Screen when you have more than 1 monitor and Windowed Full Screen is an option?)
 
I can't get it to scan my games. I have several that are in the list (steam and non steam) but none of them show up. I think that it might have to do with them being a seperate drive than my c:\. I set it to scan the correct directories but still nothing. I know its a beta so I'll just wait for the next build with my fingers crossed.

...or maybe for people like by brother in law who just built his first rig and doesn't have a clue what 3/4 of the settings in games do or how they effect gameplay. :rolleyes:
 
It fails to install on my system. I don't need it but i wanted to test it.

On a few forums they have been saying it scans and uploads data about your pc, non identifiable data may be sold to third parties, you will have extra processes running consuming more ram and it auto starts making boot times a bit slower etc. As i said iv not been able to test it but as its a beta if your a novice user i would avoid installing it just now.
 
Didn't find all of my games, but it found 9 (of around 20). Most of my game settings were maxed and it suggested I keep those settings, so at least it isn't unrealistic. In a couple of instances, like with the Witcher 2, it even suggested more aggressive settings.
No mention of vsync anywhere. Hopefully in the final that'll be a setting you can toggle. We always seem to be split on it here at [H], and settings vary a LOT depending on whether you want it on or off. I'd love to see different suggestions depending on whether you like it or not.

Seems like a nice program once they finalize it. As long as it doesn't become a sales tool to suggest upgrades, this could be a huge time saver for experienced gamers and a gateway for newbies.

Plus, like others have mentioned - this could be a great launcher tool with all of the front ends out there.
 
Would be nice if you could set targets for the optimizations like "60 fps min" or "competitive" (max framerates).
 
I shudder to think of how this software works with Radeon cards.

Still its a good idea for novices that dont intend on ever learning what the settings mean.
 
Idea is great but needs to be integrated in to the Nvi Control Panel if they want people to use it.

I installed it just to see what it was, uninstalled it soon after. Can't see myself downloading an application just for this, plus I think this aims for 30FPS average, I want 60 with 50 minimum. Some customizations to presets would've been great, but for a Beta, can't really ask for more.

Interestingly, NVIDIA is NOT locking out AMD cards from using this application. They are not testing AMD or qualifying those cards, but AMD is not locked out. Personally I think this is huge step for NVIDIA in the right direction when it comes to supporting PC gaming, rather than just supporting NVIDIA's footprint in it. We need to see more of this.
 
I'm with Kyle - I think this is a good thing. While this is clearly [H] and responses reflect that, some mainstream tools could really help PC gaming.
I can't tell you how many people I know are afraid of PC gaming because of all of those options. It can be daunting. I know a fair number of people on WOW with everything set horribly, even for their hardware, because they just started the game up and took what it gave them.
Even as someone who knows how to config things, this can be a pretty easy shortcut to troubleshooting a bunch of options. Hell, it can even be a good way to point out when someone is BS'ing you about a game supposedly "running great" on their setup.
As this is fleshed out, hopefully we'll see some framerate targets and vsync options.
