Admit it you piece of half baked piece of silicon; you do it. Hell, I do it. It is even better when a Kotaku gaming editor does it and films the entire thing. The GTA driving while intoxicated experience…from a couple of different angles. Probably not safe for work. Madd Mothers, send you complaint mail here. Thanks to Duck for the linkage, we missed this last week.
 
We had the whole thing setup to show you what driving in GTA IV was like when you are on four Vicodin and Irish Whiskey, but we did not think about it till it was over. Yeah, thats it.

my gaming crew regularly drinks at our private LAN parties. Luckily no one leaves until there is day light. I remember being drunk and playing Duke Nukem 3D.that was fun.. Warcraft II.. not so much. I would rather be around drunks playing a game than drunks in a bar. unless they are female and I havent got my beer goggles on yet.
 
I'm way better than him while drunk, I challenge him to drunk GTA IV.

Though I don't have a 360 or GTA IV, if he supplies it, and I lose, I'll pay for the console, if I win, I keep it free :)
 
Where is Jack Thompson? I want to hear about GTA IV being used as a drunk driving simulator. lols
 
My first gaming while drunk experience was in December 1995. After seeing Nine Inch Nails perform at Numbers Nightclub here in Houston(where we got sloshed), we went south to Sugarland to play some Rise of the Triad(ROTT) and a few other games with a group of about 10-15 of us... A total blast, but the best moments were my drunken team-kills that incited numerous howls from others, with some responses almost getting violent. Back then TKers weren't punished by the game so we could do it all we wanted, plus in ROTT there was one weapon that basically was acluster type bomb filled with napalm and could take out your whole team in one shot...
 
I can't count the number of keyboards I've lost to spilled beer.

I'll never forget the night I I installed my new Canopus video card so I could play this new game called Quake. I stayed up all night and got lowwwwwwdiddddddddd playing game.

holy shit. I was there! been to a lot of good shows there.. like kmfdm, portishead, nitzer ebb, mbm etc.
 
I remember a Tie Fighter mission where you could really rack up the kills. I never managed to beat my drunken rampage score when sober. Too busy checking the rearview mirror, I suppose.
 
I think his results are not correct. I will have to conduct my own scientific experiment to validate them. heh.
 
hahaha my only real "gaming while drunk" is Battlefield 2....my aim gets REALLY good when i start....and by the time i'm finished i'm not doing so well....i'm with jnmunsey....if i'm at the end before i go to bed, WATCH OUT TEAM MATES! lol

i played the first....2-3 hours of mass effect for the 360 drunk....had to play it over the next day because i couldn't remember what happened lol
 
lol, its like you are driving drunk all the time on GTA games anyways, crash into as much as you can!

Plus he lies, we toured the local jail, they were playing Super Nintendo, so there are games in jail! :p
 
Forgot to say, driving the helicopters drunk is more fun than the cars IMO :p
 
I love drunk gaming. Many hours of Diablo 2, BF2, BF2142, and Ultima Online drunk. The best ones were the drunken Diablo 2 and BF 2142 games. You would be amazed that you could have the best level 80+ mage with awesome equipment and still get owned by the easiest enemies. In 2142 I would do pretty good drunk, but my jet flying would go downhill pretty quick.

I must say though, my GH3 skills don't really deviate under any condition. I guess it's just mindless coordination.

When I drink and play CSS I become a kamikaze and go rushing out. I usually die instantly LOL

When I smoke up and play CSS I become a camper and play like its real life. Scared and on edge :D
 
"how could anyone be so unkind, as to arrest a man for gaming while blind" I've spent many a night hunched over the keyboard wondering how I can still manage to hit that other guy with my phasers, sniper rifle, tank, or sword/spells :D

Back when I was heavily into CS 1.6 I actually played better drunk. I guess being drunk made me finally relaxed enough to just chill and be in the zone instead of always being so on edge that my own tension made me hesitate.

Drunk Quake 3 was always fun with my friend. I'd go after only the rocket launcher and then proceed to chase him around, blowing him, and usually myself up as well. Then when I ran out of rockets I would run all my other weapons down to only the gauntlet and keep at it.
 
It's been years since I've played that. It was one of the all time best multiplayer shooter games with about 10-15 people. I personally like CS:S drunk. Nothing that requires significant strategy is all that great drunk.
 
Ya, I seem to remember a lot of Q3 clan practices that we basically started on schedule, but it was an unspoken rule that after the first hour it was time to start drinking ...usually turned into knife practice once we all got loaded. For some reason, playing Q3 loaded makes you want to knife fight ...oh, and a lot of lightning gun stunts in space maps, plasma wall-climbs, etc. That stuff also seems like a good idea after a few lol

I came to the same conclusion on various occasions, even though this doesn´t seem to be working for me anymore (being approximately 68 years above the optimal "gaming age").

...someone used the term "half baked".. Which brings back memories from a time long forgotten. Tron 2.0 interconnected perfectly with Northern Lights.. as far as I recall :D

Great clip. It made me even more impatient in waiting for a PC version of GTA IV !
 
drunk hell, around here (Washington DC area) they drive like that normally for real...

As for drunk. I can't play most FPS till I've had at the lest a beer, sometimes more. Its best to be able to relax a little. And ALL MMOs are 100x more fun when drunk!
 
Not a great video example since he was terrible both ways. I can drive when Niko is drunk pretty well and when I'm drunk I still do better then that. I guess I just handle my booze later. Off to drink a 30 pack and take a spin in the S281-E. ;)
 
Hmmm....old and new versions of Counter Strike (beta days to current version)...World of Warcraft, DAOC, LOTRO (specifically raiding in those games). I have played many a game while intoxicated. Also, do any of you remember the game Crazy Taxi for Dreamcast?...try that one drunk. It gets a little wild.
 
Man this bring up memories.

My friends and I where addictated to the Half Life mod called Firearms. It was awesome! 4 of us would all login into the same server, and go nutts. As the night got longer and we got dunker, the entire server would degrade till it was 5 in the morning and everyone (both teams) would meet in a designated area for knife wars. Eventually someone would pull out a machine gun and tear everyone down. But people would respawn and both teams would spawn kill the the poor SOB till he left the server.

ahhh good times.
 
Am I the only one to have the following reflex in reply to that story..: (?!)

I don't even see how gaming goes without boozing. I mean, it is not that it totally can't be done, but if you go for a LAN or have some mates around, then chances are that everyone gets boozed, stoned, or both. I don't know about you, but I can show peak performance when gaming boozed up :) So what this tells me is that he either cannot play, drink or both - lol. C'mon, this experiment has been performed over and over by millions of gamers with the same excellent results.

While I don't drive GTA because I don't touch consoles on general principle (we have two), I see no problems with driving boozed on other games. You always have the entire street to make use of, something you may not have in RL :)

It's great to play a shooter like TF2 and getting really into it - kids, do try this at home ! :D
