Though off the bat: That CPU and motherboard are completely incompatible since they use different sockets. Plus there's a lot of issues with that build that I will cover as soon as you answer those ten questions in that sticky.

You didn't answer question 8 good enough: When do you plan on building this PC? This week? Next month? Next three months? etc. "Whenever I please" is too open-ended of an answer.

Also, are you planning on using three monitors in the future for gaming or are you only planning on gaming on one monitor? Are those two additional monitors part of that $2500 budget? Same for the OS: Is that also part of the $2500 budget?

In addition, if you haven't turned on that hard drive in three years, it may not work all that well. Especially if it hasn't been properly stored. Not to mention that there are newer and faster hard drives out there these days. Considering your budget, might as well get a new drive.As for your separate OS and programs drives idea, not a good idea in this case since most sub 120GB SSDs are pretty overpriced these days. Not to mention that larger SSDs tend to perform a tad better than their smaller counterparts.

Honestly, we're going to have to start from scratch here. Your planned setup is really....not sound. Speaking of sound, do you actually have moderate or high-end speakers? Or are those part of the $2500 budget as well? No moderate to high-end speaker, no point in getting a 3rd party sound card.

Again this is a general suggestion.If you ahve a microcenter near you, you can save some money! Im sure others will have suggestions that would be better.

I just want a kick ass computer that will run any game I put at it and will get the job done. Of course I would like the price to be low. The 2500 is just what I have in the cart. I've been using a laptop to game for the past 4 years so I'm a little out of the loop with the new hardware that came out for desktops.

P.s I've been using my iPhone to write in this post so I'm sorry if the answers are a little short. Il be back at home tonight.

I want to use three for gaming yes and the windows 7 is not in the budget. At this point I feel as if everything I put up is crap and I need to start fresh. So why don't y'all just tell me what parts I should get to play battlefield on the highest settings possible. Just battlefield.

Now what's so different between the i5 and the i7 in this situation?
 
i7 uses hyperthreading. It doesn't have any real advantage for a gaming PC, and can be detrimental in certain games.
 
Well medeyer got it mostly right: The big difference between the Core i5 and Core i7 is that the Core i7 has HT. However, not many games actually take advantage of HT. With that said, due to Core i7's slightly higher clock speed and the slightly larger L3 cache, the Core i7s are indeed faster than the Core i5. But not fast enough to justify an extra $50 let alone $100. Since you've only stated "gaming" as your major usage for this PC, little to no reason to get a Core i7. But there are situations where the Core i7 would be justified. Just not here though.
 
Ok, I will be using this computer also with my college classes. My major in college is information system technology so you have an idea what classes I would take. So would it fine ok to stick with the i5?

good good. I do like those cases you have listed there, but i was looking at the 800D. Yes i know its a little more money and i understand its mainly for water cooling but is it so bad that i add corsair fans inside . The reason why i wanted this is because of the size. I enjoy all the open space i will have inside just to feel that it stays cool and looks neat.
 
If you can afford it, go for it. I didn't include the 800D since it would have taken you over your $2500 budget with the setup I recommended earlier. But if you're going for a single monitor gaming setup or can spare the extra cash, go ahead and grab the 800D.
 
Yea ill be saving a lot of money by just getting one for now. Always a chance that ill buy the second one in the future. For the CPU cooler i was also looking at H100. little overkill?
 
A tad. Only get it if you're really serious about overclocking.

Do note that in order for a SLI to be cost-effective setup, you should buy the second GPU within six months for maximum price to performance. Wait too long and it becomes less and less of a good idea to go SLI.

To be honest, I think ill just be leaving the CPU just as is. I don't want the risk of blowing it. So I'm just going to sick with the original CPU cooler listed. Any thoughts on monitors these days? I've had mine for about 5 years now and feel as if I need an up date latter on. I will probably buy it 2 months of having my desktop set up. The reason my i had the sound card added to the cart was to enhance the sound quality for my games and music I listen to.

Again, do you actually have decent speakers and/or headphones. If not, really no point in adding the sound card.
 
I will be getting some nice speakers and headphones soon. I'm going to stick with what you listed for the CPU and motherboard. Ill overclock it just not right ahead. Sorry ive been going back and forth haha

Really? Look at the current time, a person that bought one 680 on day 1 (and has been happy with it) now sees two new cards come out, the Titan and the 780. He gets a desire to upgrade. He would get much more performance for a lot less money by getting a second 680 instead of selling it and buying a 780 or Titan.

Fine, six months is a bit early. But I still stand by the second portion of that quoted post. He should get that second GPU as soon as possible.
 
I'm only going to push the CPU to 4.5 so I shouldn't need the H100.
 
Well, that depends on where your 4670K falls in the "CPU lottery". You may get one that can only do 4.2 GHz with a decent liquid cooler. You may get one that can do 4.8 GHz or more with a really good air cooler. Just depends.
 
I wouldn't mind getting a good cooler. Just trying to see how much a 750 power supply can handle with the H100 and those two GPUs. .

If it can't handle those parts then I will do one of two things. Get a bigger power supply or just use one GPU. Witch saves me money by not getting those monitors. Unjust want to make sure my CPU is safe
