I did a search and nothing showed up...

I want to see your G80 (GTS or GTX) results.

Ok I guess we are changing the rules to "24/7" overclocks, that you can play any games for hours etc. with no problems. Try to follow this format:

Driver Version: 97.02
Card: EVGA 8800GTS
Core Clock: 630mhz
Memory: 2000mhz
Idle temp: 52C
Load temp: 67C
Fan speed: 99%
Extra Cooling: nothing
3dMark06 SM 2.0 score: 4591 Marks
3dMark06 SM 3.0 score: 4581 Marks

Not asking for 3dmark06 scores because it is CPU dependant.. only SM scores.

UPDATED 12/31/06:

Need more results :D

What's weird is at 630/1900 I can play any game even F.E.A.R. for hours without any problems... but it will still fail ATiTool.

ATITool...is a guideline....my TELLS me it has errors at 625/2000 but it plays any game, error free, for hours, and you cannot see any yellow poppers. Looped Far Cry overnight for 6+ hours...no crashes and temps under 75c.

I run it at 620/980 for everyday use, I can't tell the difference in that minor change in actual games at all. And at that speed it passes AtiTool's test for 20-30 minutes at a time, but even then you cannot actually SEE any image distortion in the little monitoring window, even at 625/2000....

Should I change the requirements to just passing 3dMark06 with no errors?

Driver version: 97.44
Card: Asus 8800GTX
Core Clock: 650mhz
Memory: 2000mhz
Idle temp: 49C
Load temp: 65C
Fan Speed: 90%
Extra Cooling: Slot blower above card
SM 2.0 Score 5405 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 5463 Marks

I'll have to try ATi tool for an elonaged spell.. but I game with 650/2000 for hours on end.. I leave Oblivion on with the cam circling my char for 5 hours sometimes and it's totally fine.. this is with every texture upgrade I could find + sound enhancements.. pretty nice! my card will bench @ 650/2100 and I can play FEAR with the memory @ 2100, but Oblivion got twichy.. so 2000 it is.

Driver version: 97.28

Can't post pics as I won't be near my computer for a good 2 weeks... Holidays away from my apartment ftl.

UPDATED FOR 97.44 Drivers

3dMark06 SM 2.0 score: 4191 Marks
3dMark06 SM 3.0 score: 4697 Marks

Seems SM scores are affected by cpu as well. C2D machines have much higher SM than Optys with same Vid Card cores and mem.

-my SM2.0 and 3.0 scores seem low...drivers?

-side notes on scores, interesting to see how the 8800GTS practically doubles the scores of the previous 7900GT I had, all other system components are the same.

made a few updates. going to try looking in the 3dmark thread to see if I can get anymore data.

looks like the 96.xx drivers are not performing as well from the looks of it...

also I just tried 640mhz core and ATiTool froze windows :(

I guess 630 is my max stable

Im expecting my Step-up 8800GTX soon..Is 650/2000 the speed to shoot for??Seems like a shoe in..

So what tools are you using to Overclock. My 3dmark 05 and 06 scores just are not changing much overclocking with RivaTuner. At first I thought it was CPU bottlenecking for 06, but I did not think 05 included it in the score.

But I guess the resolution of both would be CPU bound on my system with a GTX.

Games are fantastic though. I think I will start using CoH performance test as my main test of overclocking. Just thought about all this while typing the question...lol.

I am overclocking with nTune, and checking temps with ATiTool.

I'm not so sure... look at this:

97.28 drivers and up can exhibit a bug in which your ram speeds are not changed even though Rivatuner thinks it is....some systems exhibit a locked in ram speed of 400....there is alot of info here on the forum discussing this issue....

That has got to be it. I thought I was just having a hard time understanding the different domain's, but in RivaTuner's monitor, my Memory Clock is stuck at 396 mhz. Thank you for the info.

I just got the GTX and installed the latest 97.44 drivers. What driver versions have been the most stable? Any?

I will fix this in a bit. I want to see your SM 2 and 3 scores!! :)

Yep, I'll have it up when I get back from visiting my family for Christmas! Dont worry.

I am using the 96.89 very carefully installed, not a trace of previous drivers in there....luckily other than a minor issue with HL2 silvery fog characters at long distances...it is running great.

Thanks I was noticing a lot of the benchmarks were done with 97.02. I will get both and try them out.

97.02 is supposedly the latest driver without the "memory speed" bug. 97.28 and 97.44 have the bug.

well I guess I am not affected by the bug.. updated to 97.44 drivers and got better SM2/3 scores. Updated the listing... removed a score because I actually had the wrong data.

wow - good thing you dug this up.. I finally used ATI tool to validate my OC and it's 630/2000 for completely artifact free OC.. which is how I am rolling now..

Nice. my highest artifact free is 600/1800 (but on a GTS). Highest bench is 630/2100 but at that speed it crashes oblivion. How I roll is 620/1900, no probs in any of my games (but still fails artifact test in ATItool)

Not in my opinion. 3DMark nor any other benchmark or game isn't going to 'show' errors in any traditional sense of the word. You need a dedicated tool for artifact checking, which ATITool provides. Even the most stressful game or application may not show artifacts that are readily visible.

Even in ATITool or another artifact checking tool you may not see visible artifacts but rest assured if it detects artifacts you are pushing your card past it's limits. Some people are comfortable with that so long as it doesn't impact their gaming experience, I personally am NOT. I would rather know my card is at 100% stable levels and in my personal opinion that's the criteria that should be met for any overclocking database that hopes to be worth anything.

Just my $0.02

Driver version: 97.44

SM 3.0 Score 4256 Marks

It is an expensive high end card. Driven near by the limits to outperform the rivals on the market. I am glad to have one. I prefer enjoying my games instead of risking card damage or system crashes.

wow i gotta try the 96.89 drivers... 5k?

well finally got to doing mine... i can run 630/2000 in games no problems, but i get a 2 mismatched pixels at about every 20 minutes in atitool.

So im not a lets push it too much kind of guy, i am leaving it at 590/1850 which will run atitool for 5 hours and zero mismatched pixels.

ugh.. actually that one doesn't count.. I was using my widescreen LCD when i ran the test, and 3dmark06 used 1152 x 864 as its default resolution instead of 1280 x 1024. :(

So I just ran the test again on my old CRT monitor, and I lowered Core to 620 for stability.

Driver Version: 96.89
Card: EVGA 8800GTS
Core Clock: 620mhz
Memory: 2000mhz

SM 3.0 Score: 4568 Marks
the score looks normal now ROFL..

3Dmark06

My room is warmer than usual, so the load temp got a bit higher.

nice stable OC.. i wonder if it lasts overnight?

Updated the charts as of 12/31/06

Abysmal. Embarrassing, but I'll share. Maybe someone here knows what will help on a software level. :)

I guess CPU does make a diff even in the SM scores...

Well now we need a GPU benchmark... :(

Hence the reason 3DM06 really sucks for actual real game testing...

Crank up the eye candy and resolution in your fave game, watch it run just the same, if you are cpu limited, then the eye candy becomes "free".
