The thread is gone is that a sign that this is just a ugly rumor?

For those interested, Google has cached most of the thread.. just type http://www.overclock.net/t/1540656/unofficial-frozencpu-shuts-its-doors into Google for the first page and second page is http://www.overclock.net/t/1540656/unofficial-frozencpu-shuts-its-doors/10.. and keep adding 10 more to the last number to go up a page. I was reading the entire forum and got up to about page 40 when the next page stop loading this afternoon. It was making for an interesting read!!

ResellerRatings for FrozenCPU has nothing but 5/5 for their February reviews, although all but one "reviewer" that I checked has posted more than one review.. not sure how common that is to have a bunch of "one review" posts so there might be a chance someone could be manipulating the score over there.
I think you're reading too much into it. IIRC, they give a discount code to you if you post a review but I think you can only get the discount once. So it's not surprising that people would post a single review to get the code and then not care enough to post any others

So let me get this straight. The owner of Frozen CPU has addition problems, trashes his own business, fires all the employees. And he wants us to know they are not closing, and has plans to hire another set of of employees.

Hmmm, maybe you should check into re-hab for about 6 months, then come back and build your business again, after you're healthy again.

Let he who hasn't trashed their workplace after going on a Chinese takeout, Newport and Budweiser bender cast the first stone.

I defer to your knowledge about ResellerRatings.. I also just sampled the last few reviews from Newegg and Amazon.. most of NE's reviewers were done by first timers although Amazon was about evenly split between first, second and third time reviewers. So perhaps FrozenCPU's "first time reviewers" shouldn't be seen as suspicious. I have put some stock in what ResellerRatings but not as much as I use to.. MaximumPC magazine circa 2006-07 was highlighting ResellerRatings in many articles but then just stopped.. when a reader asked what happened, if I remember correctly, a vague response akin to "not being very accurate" was given.

Would be nice if Kyle would give out a little more info on his contact with Mark Friga especially since no one else seems to be able to contact the guy. Why has Mark decided to relay that FrozenCPU is still in business through Kyle instead of posting this on his website, FB and Twitter pages? Is what Kyle posted a quote from Mark or just Kyle's summation of what Mark told him. Why are those the exact same words as Primochill posted in Twitter.. it starts out with "we just heard back.." giving the impression Primochill heard from Mark.. but no quotes are used so have to assume these are not Mark's exact words.. but then who's words are they? Kyle admitted that he does "not know him personally" so how does Kyle know he was actually in contact with the real Mark Friga? Did Kyle verify this person's identity? I am in no way saying Kyle is being untruthful with the statements he has posted in this forum.. just pointing out these questions are out there and unanswered for the Perry Mason Jrs of the world to ponder.

I have little interest in the fate of FrozenCPU but have found this episode to be a very interesting business story about how a company reacts to a negative, perhaps liable accusation. After almost two days, it seems FrozenCPU has done little to quench fears about it's future prospects, when a simple explanation posted on sites controlled by FrozenCPU, instead of using third parties relaying ambiguous statements, could have squashed much of the FUD the company now faces. It will now be of great interest to see if the company has squandered their 15 years of good will with their mostly silent response, or should it have been more pro-active in fighting off accusations of going out of business. Perhaps lawyers have been involved which might explain their silence.. lawyers, guns & money usually help most situations!!

Kyle admitted that he does "not know him personally" so how does Kyle know he was actually in contact with the real Mark Friga?

Probably the same way that Kyle knows a number of the employees of KBNetworks, via email, phone, text, and IM. As it turns out, in the tech industry, lots of people work remotely and have contacts that they have only ever met for work but never on a personal level or even in person.

Did Kyle verify this person's identity? I am in no way saying Kyle is being untruthful with the statements he has posted in this forum.. just pointing out these questions are out there and unanswered for the Perry Mason Jrs of the world to ponder.

Perry Mason Jrs wouldn't be pondering those questions. Why the relayed message is the same is probably because when everyone contacted the owner he put up an email response that said "XXXXXXXXX" and then copy pasted it out. It is what most people would do since it gets the message out and is time efficient.

Is FrozenCPU done? Who knows really, you rarely say we are done until you actually are...and they won't say so until they are well and truly done.

lol this is case modding and gaming its called rage quit, and then reconnect 20 minutes later.

Well, I get the feeling that they are or are on such a spiral that they won't recover in the same form we knew them before but it is hard to say. It's not like when Monarch went out yet as alluded to earlier, that was easy for me to dig up then because of why they went out of business.

Not to derail the thread but back in the days of old when I had a issue with a company that used to be popular around here and went to ResellerRatings I found instances of the companies CEO posting fake reviews on ResellerRatings. I found many instances of it going on and had all kinds of proof. All ResellerRatings did was ignore it. Havent went back there since they didn't have any integrity.

Damn, thats sad. Who's left now? mnpctech? And what a throwback when someone mentioned 2cooltek. Feeling sad as shit right now..:(

2014 was record sales year for Mnpctech. We survive by creating our own products that appeal to PC hardware trends, instead of solely focusing on retail other manufacturer products. I also give back to the community with DIY guides and video logs whenever time allows me..

It's difficult to draw solid conclusions from those pictures, nor is it confirmed that those pictures are authentic. I think the threads on OCN were getting shut down as people in the area were offering to do a drive-by/look-see and honestly the speculation was getting out of hand.

I hope this shuts up the non believers and the ever so righteous "rumors are bad so why post this blah, blah" idiots up. Right or wrong rumors are either true or not, that's why news sites post this stuff. Speculation is heavy in this industry so if you don't like it you may want to find a different hobby.

Excuse me, so it's OK to post things on a website that are 100% unsubstantiated?

I have seen nothing in either this forum or OCN that puts any truth to these rumors.

The only reality we have here is the posting by Kyle that says the business is still up and running.

These rumors have the potential to absolutely ruin this guy's business. A business that I have used for at least 10 years and the service has been perfect.

If I was the guy who owned Frozen, I'd have my lawyers doing some hard looking at this.

That is true, totally agree. The smaller the industry (overclocking, watercooling), the more impact rumors have on a company as small as FrozenCPU or similar.

I won't lean one way or the other, but I've seen this exact same thing happen to many automotive aftermarket parts companies. A company with a seemingly great reputation suddenly spirals into chaos in a matter of a few weeks, rumors swirl around that they're going out of business and that everyone has been laid off or fired, and the CEO randomly pipes up saying nothing is changing and they're still in business.

You always have three sides to a story - the fired employee (or employees') side, the CEO's side, and the truth. I've found it's often the case that the truth falls somewhere in the middle, but the people fired are always gonna be pissed, the CEO is always gonna be overly optimistic (that's their job) and the truth is always a big grey area between the two.

Chances are whether they keep their doors open, this is going to hurt their reputation more than the CEO is willing to admit, regardless what occurred.

Regardless of what the "real" situation may be - the truth is I've had a "rush" order sitting there for two days now that is not shipped. I've been happily buying from Frozen CPU for 9 years now, and this is the first time a rush order has not been shipped the same day, much less sat there for two days without any further activity.

If they're not shutting down, they are certainly very, very far behind in terms of processing orders, so something is definitely going on.

Having said that, that would be a "rock or hard place" situation. If he's let so much staff go that he's way behind on orders, the thing to do would be to stop taking orders temporarily - but that would only add fuel to the fire that he's shutting down - so he keeps the website going and keeps getting further and further behind.

If it continues as it is, I think the likely outcome will be him losing his merchant/paypal/processing accounts due to chargebacks & disputes, which will have the same effect anyway.

I think at this point the thing to do would be to get out in front of this thing with an honest post about what the real status of everything is, suspend orders until a set date to allow them to catch up, and then "re-open".

I know there are those who say we should not speculate, even though there are people who are posting pics of the damage, and people who actually question the validity of those photos.

I'd just like to take a moment to remind everyone that there's one person, and only one person, who can put this to rest either way.

This is one big mess and I do mean mess. All of this he said and she said crap and rumors and all could have been avoided by the owner of FrozenCPU doing a update in the official way.

All he had to do is what WebFusion2 said

I think at this point the thing to do would be to get out in front of this thing with an honest post about what the real status of everything is, suspend orders until a set date to allow them to catch up, and then "re-open".

Said honest post should be made on the "official" company website and not thru some random forum person. Not knocking [H]ard or anything. But that is about unofficial as it gets.

FrozenCPU needs to make a official statement and it must be done on the FrozenCPU's official website.

Until then I would not be buying anything from them. If you have a order with them I would wait until tomorrow ( Friday ) and if still no response via emails, phone calls or status updates on your order start the charge back process. Keep any and all records of your attempted communications and the lack thereof from FrozenCPU.

What really gets me is that this is not like FrozenCPU. In the past they have been awesome and have responded. As I said they need to make a official statement, stop taking orders aka other peoples money and do the right thing.

It's time for FrozenCPU to come clean in this because I as of now have no trust in them and will not be ordering the parts I need for my home server build.

I used to work a FCPU. Way back in the day.

Honestly that office looks like Mark would usually keep it, a fucking disaster.

As for addiction? Entirely likely. Not telling those stories in public.

Mark going off on a rampage and firing everyone? I wouldn't put that past him either.

He was a shitty boss when I worked there. Somehow I doubt he's changed dramatically since I left.

Ok Guys so here is the deal. I went to FrozenCPU this morning and here is what I found.

Clear evidence that no one has been at the building in days.

1) Shipping dock area completely covered in snow, no sign of any recent tire tracks. Even if they weren't actively clearing the snow, the light dusting we got last night would of still shown ridges from the tire tracks. It has been at least 2 days since that shipping dock has been used.
2) The parking lot behind the building that belongs to the business behind it shows what an active one looks like, where when I circle around to Frozen's it is completely covered with no evidence outside a car that turned around while I was there.
3) Doors are locked, only lights on are upstairs and those are just normal office lights that probably don't get turned off.
4) A bit of clutter including some rather out of place things looking in the main door.
5) No Evidence of a Vehicle driving into the building anywhere, you can put that silly rumor to rest.
6) No activity like you would expect from some place operating during its regular business hours. I showed up a few minutes early hoping to catch up with people going in, but nothing at all.

The video I took of my time there if you want proof of what I just posted.

Thanks for the report De. I wasn't aware of the 'Closed' story and had three items in my cart, ready to buy yesterday.
I had a question about an item and called just to get a recording saying they were ' Now closed, call back during business hours' this was at 2:00 pm eastern.
I thought that was strange and only then did I see the thread here. Bummer !

Honestly I'm disappointed, I was hoping what Mark told Kyle was true. I'm also struggling for work right now so I was going to offer to help if the "skeleton crew" claim was true. Unfortunately as shown when i got there it was empty. Even with a skeleton crew I would of expected a half dozen people to be there setting up to ship packages.

Thanks for the video.
Place sure looks deserted.

I hope everything is ok and Frozen gets back up and running.
