Is this A1 week or something im getting one of these every friggen day. takes over 10 hours.

Heh...and here I thought it was just me riding the A1 train these days. :D It does screw with your daily production levels and points, but I figure they've just got to be done anyways. Hang in there guys...maybe Stanford will eventually give us a break and starting sending out more A2's and A3's soon.
 
just gotta get the last of the A1's finished so we can get on to the A3 bigadv's
 
I wouldn't think A1s would keep us from running A3 bigadv
I mean they rolled out A3 while 1 and 2 and 2bigadv were all still out there

I can hope tho, A3 bigadv would be cool!

Ugh, I've gotten 12 WU's in with my passkey, really hoping I can hurry up and start getting the bonus but the A1's I've been getting are killing me.
 
Why are you guys getting all A1's? You running Big ADV?

I was having the same problem but it was due to the vmware linux iso I was using having a 6.24 core. Stanford apparently went to 6.29 core to get the A2 and A3 cores.

The only problem i have now is my first completed unit will not upload and I can not get a new work unit to download. Does anyone have any ideas or is everyone else having this problem as well?

I'm running SMP on 4 Q6600s so I'm probably more likely than most to see the damn A1s. Considering each machine can do about 3 A2s and close to 3 A3s per day it's more likely I'll see A1s more often than most. It just happens that in the last day or so I've had at least 3 A1s between my four machines which is not the typical number of them I see in a short span of time. I don't normally see more than a couple of A1s per week.

That said, my Linux client actually finished an A2 not long ago and picked up an A3 after the A2 was done. I also had my main machine shut down on me when I plugged my phone in and when it came back up the A1 it had run through 3 or 4 frames on seems to have died and I got an A3 as a replacement. Talk about an inadvertent and lucky screwup. It was actually quite weird since I don't normally lose any work units even if the machine goes down unexpectedly like that.
 
Since I replace the 6.24 wth 6.29, I have had 2 A1's and my ppd has returned to a more normal level.
 
My work machine has an A1 now, oh man it's even worse than normal.
It's a measly E2200 @ 2.7, so PPD running A3's is usually around 1200 I believe.
This frickin' A1 dropped it to 711.6 PPD. Gah!!! :eek:

I've been getting A1s every few days. It kills my ppd for a full day but whatever. They are being phased out so eventually they will die off and go away.
 
Guess I got lucky this morning when I finished my last -bigadv. Got another -bigadv!

Woot.

Yeah my i7 grabbed another bigadv, my q9450 has been chugging A3's all day.
my E2200 was the lone one out...oh well if any one of them has to get A1's, I'd rather it be that one. :)
I may come home with another i7 tomorrow...I'm debating and leaning yes. My ASRock RMA comes tomorrow...going to be hard to not stop by MC on the way home with another 920 and another 6gigs of ram. ;) have everything else already (psu, cooler, HD). I almost picked up one of the BFG 260's there for $151 when I was there Tuesday but I figured it'd be worth more putting that $151 towards another i7. :D
 
I have alerted Dr Pande of this situation about the A1s.

Maybe he can get some A3 & A2 -bigadv units loaded onto the servers

It would be great if they could implement a system that would send you units based on your system specs, but that's most likely wishful thinking on my part, at least at this point.

I've had a few of those rogue a1's really knock me in the dirt for some reason. I can get 5500-6000ppd on my machine but about a week ago I got something that took over 24 hours to fold. I had 0 points from my main rig that day.

If they hit that hard, honestly it's hard to not dump them. All we get out of this is points.
 
I'm getting A1 when I turn in an A3.

If I delete the A1's queue.dat and restart the client. I download A3. Seems to me stanford is trying to give a little A1 to everyone, but only after you get the chance of folding 1 A3.

The quicker we burn through A1 work, the quicker they will disappear. Deleting the work isn't helping matters, suck it up and fold a few of them.

you should get a little closer to 1500 to 1700 on A3
 
My SMP boxen (two running linux VM clients, one running Windows SMP2) are getting A1s every now and then. Maybe one per two A3s completed. Right now, my Q6600 and E6850 Linux VMs both have A3, but the Q6600 Windows SMP2 has an A1. Pity too, because the Windows SMP2 is the only overclocked one.
 
Getting word that Dr Kasson added some more A3 & A2 -bigadv units to the assignment servers.

Should help clear up the A1 work unit issue some.
 
My Phenom II 720 x3 gets about 1550 ppd at 3.35 Ghz on an A1 unit. A E2200 C2D at 2.7 would be much slower than that. I'd say your 771 ppd might be about right with the bonus calculation.
 
Every time someone deletes an A1 unit, Stanford should delete the points value of an A3 unit including the bonus from their total score.

This was an observation........ not a recommendation

it's kind of fair in a way... you get one A3, then one A1, then one A3......

not just nothing but A1s
