They STILL have not fixed flat panel scaling for the Benq FP241W and WZ. Seriously, the monitor has been out since November, wtf is taking them so long?
 
I don't like seeing that (as of the time I am writing this) the release notes link is a dud.

I wanted to see if they made mention of the World of Warcraft BSOD issue in Terrokar (near the Arroaka camps, specifically). I end up BSOD whenever I want to go fishing! GRRRRR!!! :)

The other confusing thing is that the only way to navigate to this version is by selecting the 8600/8500 series instead of the 8800 series. Oddly, when you get to the page, it does indeed list the 8800 GTS and GTX as compatible, but going to the 8800 series still brings up 97.94.

I'd like to update, but given that you technically speaking can't get to the 158 drivers via the 8800 link and the release notes are still MIA, I'll hold off until they fix those issues.

Have you written emails to them asking for fixes? Have you called them and told them this issue?

I went to a Solid Edge conference and they said their company, like MOST others who drop new releases all the time, work off of customer suggestions and recommendations. Basically, when they release a new version, they pick the top 10 issues (just a made up #, just to make my point) and resolve them. They are ranked 1-10 by how many people write to them or call them with those issues. If you have a bug and don't report it, then it won't be added to the list, and will never get fixed.

This is the way Nvidia works too, for sure. If no one complained about a certain issue about a certain monitor, then how would it ever get resolved? You need to keep bugging them.

It has nothing to do with the monitor, but rather the whole feature is still broken. It doesn't work on my Dell 3007WFP either or either of my Viewsonic monitors.Direct X 10 SLI support not being fixed is just laughable and stinks of incompetence. I know we don't need that feature yet, but the fact that it is still broken is just retarded. NVIDIA STILL does not quite have their act together on their drivers.

Flat panel scaling needs to be fixed.
Direct X 10 SLI support needs to be added/fixed.

I still need to check on some other things as well such as multimonitor support. With the 101.41 drivers (or lower), I could not enable one of my three displays. Also every time I tried to enable or disable SLI, the system prompted me to be put to sleep or shutdown.

NVIDIA used to have the best video card drivers, now they suck ass and are inexcusably poor.
 
From my limited poking around & personal experience, these drivers are quicker than the last set. Also, I much prefer the new CP layout. That said, I do have an issue whereby the drop-down for aa/af etc. is blank, until you hover down the list - then the text appears.

Tested with UT2K4 and it does seem smoother. Will have to test some more as one of the reasons I upgraded was because of a very sporadic BSOD when firing up the game initially (nv_disp.dll). Only ever happened at 'TWIMTBP' screen (ironically enough). Once I was in , no problems - could play for hrs. I did find that running anything other than 2*aa would increase the likelihood of a crash.

Will see how we go.

And so they shall again, I'm sure :). I can only imagine that coding for the new architecture must be quite taxing. Maybe they need more monkeys?

I'm quite keen to see how R600 shapes up in this department, and whilst I'd like to let rip I shall reserve full judgement until that time.

In the meantime I'll certainly concede that they've had plenty of time to get it right ;)

Believe it or not Flat Panel Scaling does work for some monitors. With my Viewsonic VX2025WM the flat panel scaling settings don't do squat - never did. But they work perfectly on my BenQ FP222W. I really wish nVidia would get their asses in gear and fix this bug - it's literally over a year old. Since the 90 series drivers came about anyway.

Does this support overlays? I won't be able to upgrade my drivers until they release another one that supports video overlays for multiple monitors.
 
So I checked again last night and these are up on nvidia's site. They're still not WHQL certified, but there was a noticeable boost in fps while I was finishing hl2:ep1 again. I haven't had time to thoroughly test it, but the drivers definitely seem to be a step in the right direction.
 
Q4 is crashing for me (at the end, in the Nexus). Played all the way through with 97's just fine.
 
I just upgraded from 97.92 to 158.19

3d mark '05: 13,795 ==> 14,201
3d mark '06: 8,056 ==> 8,711

Only played F.E.A.R combat for a few hours last night. Not a noticeable difference, but had no problems.
 
I'm having some problems with these drivers, nothing major. With the 101.70 drivers, I had no problems whatsoever, but with the 158.19 drivers, smooth scrolling in Firefox or IE7 was choppy, almost like the CPU usage was 100%, when it was only a few percent. Uninstalled them, restarted and reinstalled them again, with the same results. Uninstalled them and went back to the 101.70's and no more problems.

Odd, I've not experienced this issue. Presumably you used Drivercleaner when you removed? Not sure how much faith to invest in it, but it is something that you get asked in these situations! :)
 
Per nVidia's documentation, this is how the drivers should be installed. I rebooted each time I performed a step:

1. Uninstall current drivers. Reboot.
2. Install new drivers. Reboot.
3. Uninstall new drivers. Reboot.
4. Reinstall new drivers. Reboot

Worked like a charm.

I didn't use driver cleaner (mostly because I wasn't aware of a Vista compatible version, but I also just installed Vista about 3 days ago), but I also didn't see the proper way to install these drivers as Mr. Face below my last post states, so I'll have to give that a try when I get home from work. And if that doesn't work, I'll be sticking with the 101.70's until the next driver is released.

That's interesting. Were you uninstalling in safe mode or in the regular Windows environment?
 
I upgraded my 8800GTX's drivers from 97.04 (I think... whatever the older ones were) to 158.19. The only game I have played so far is World of Warcraft, and so far in Terrokar Forest I have noticed my FPS is VASTLY improved (from 10-20FPS flying in the trees to 50+FPS in the same situation) and I have yet to crash in areas where I previously would crash (the Arroaka camps.)

So for me and my WinXP system this is GOOD! :) It works with all (1) of the games I play on a day-to-day basis, therefore I'm a happy NVidia owner! :cool:

Installed 158.19 from 100.65 and now I get a blank screen once Vista starts up. :mad:
Put 100.65 back on and it's fine.
 
XP x64 performance dropped like mother. BF2142 framerates dropped from 50s to the teens w/ the new drivers.

BUT, recently I had a problem w/ my XP / Vista dual boot where my boot partition got all screwed up and now my X-fi is wigging out in-game after a while. I guess it's time another round of reformatting...I'll try again and see how these new drivers work in 3dmark and bf2142.

Anyone know if this fixes the "white button" issue in Final Fantasy XI?
 
I can't install the new drivers as they say my 32-bit Vista installation is not 32-bit Vista. :confused:

Scaling works perfectly on my Dell 3007WFP. I installed the 3007 drivers through windows update and it started working. :cool:
 
So far so good for me with the 158.19 under XP 32 bit, as far as stability.
 
Seems nice so far, I noticed some small performance gains. (XP Pro 32bit).

That started working for me as well when I did the same thing. So at least that's something. The drivers seem to be pretty decent for the most part. I have few complaints. NVIDIA is moving in the right direction, it's just taking too long to get where they used to be with their other drivers.

I think that NVIDIA is moving slow because they are making sure every driver update is a step forward. With all the problems and negative attention surrounding their Vista drivers, a release of a bad driver update would be a PR disaster.
 
So far these drivers seem the best. The only game i had a problem with was COD2 where when i would load a mission. The part where the black screen is supposed to fade into game it wouldnt however loading it up in safe mode and resetting my settings did the trick. Once it was running, i noticed increased framerates. My fps doesnt drop below 50 with the rig in the sig and stays around 75-80 so i'm happy. My 3dMark06 score also jumped from around 8700 to 8950. Performance in almost all other games has increased. No decreases in any games. I'm happy!

Are you using Vista or XP? You really should specify this . It is very important to include your OS in your sig and also very helpful.
