Bill. You don't know him. He is a really nice fellow. He loves his wife of 40 years and spent his life giving to others as a teacher of architecture. He is a lover of gardening and a lover of friends and family alike. Ask him for a favor and it is done. A genuinely nice guy. My neighbor, my friend.

I got the news last night that Bill has Pancreatic Cancer and has less than 6 months to live. A man like Bill should not be rewarded like this. He gives and the beast takes away.

This is for you, Bill.... my friend.

Lest we forget why we are here.... the beast is about to claim another. :(

That's horrible news Moose. Know that him and his family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

We won't forget why we are here, we all have our reasons, let this rededicate us to our cause. Let's not let the beast claim another loved one!

Thanks for the reminder that this isn't about the points, its about a cure.

Sorry to hear about your friend. This is such an uphill battle... :(

Sorry to hear the news... Add this to the very long list of reasons we fold... One day soon we'll find a cure for these monsters that take our loved ones.

Keep on Folding!! For the [H]orde!!

I will not send my condolences just yet. He's still here and has a chance. I will send my prayers instead. It's just terrible that people like that have to go through things like this.

One of the two reasons my sister stayed here in the US an extra week instead of heading back to England with her husband and daughter was because of a friend/past employer of hers died from cancer. She stayed to attend the funeral. The night before she left I gave her a CD with some files she would probably want which included the automated Windows installer that unhappy_mage put together. I have not talked to her since Saturday but I'm going to be guessing she installed folding.

I consider every WU I return as a kick in the nuts to the monster.

Being that Bill is a man of faith, I am sure that your thoughts and prayers are appreciated.

I think it would be cool if we had a memorial wall or something we could post the names (or anon if they prefer) of loved ones we've lost or is battling cancer or any other disease our work is helping . Sticky it. Kinda like the Why we DC. I guess the only concern would be people might start to compare who has more people affected but I would hope they don't

I personally do it for my mom who passed away from cancer when I was 13.

Thoughts? Should I start such a thread?

Bill was taken by the cancer this past Friday evening. I found out the news when I got home from work. Truely a sad day. I went over to see his wife and she is handling it well, although I am sure that the shock of it all is holding the tears back for now and some of her family is in from California.

The world has lost another great man. Rest in peace Bill. You are already missed.

:(

I'm sorry to hear that...the situation is bad enough, but he got shorted out of his last moments he was guarenteed too. :( I'm glad I started folding, hopefully in a few years problems like this will be something of the past.

Truly sorry to hear that he didn't atleast get his last 6 months. I know there is not much I can say to help the situation, so I'll make it short and sweet.

Fold on!

I feel for you and the rest of Bill's family - my condolences. The beast has a knack for taking the best of us... But that's why we're here, right?

My thoughts go out...
Josh
