Folding Rig Buildoff

What model number are your 465s? I may be interested in those and or the 460s

GOING THE SR-2 ROUTE, BABY! Pulling the trigger on the SR-2 tomorrow; getting two Xeon E5530s from Musky.

I've never owned a Dualie rig before; I'm pretty excited. Combine this with a custom-built case and some water cooling and we'll be in business!

Amazing! Congrats on soon becoming another member of the [H] SR-2 Club! Wish I could be one as well but I'll be content seeing the team getting more and more excited about building multiple socket systems.

The beauty of this is that I think he still has a Gulftown-ready board, so once the 75K ppd from the SR-2 gets boring, he can grab a nice little I7 970 and add another 60K to his farm. He also will have the hex core Xeon upgrade path available. That will be some nice hardware that should not be obsolete for quite a while yet.

It is fun to set the -smp 16 flag. I know you don't need the 16, but it makes me feel good setting it... :)

Should we start a SR-2 club? In any case enjoy the hugeness that is the SR-2.

I think we already have a club. Welcome to it, NobleX13!

We could probably use a dedicated thread with overclocking results, PPD reference, etc. Lots of people seem to be interested in the SR-2. I think overclocking this board is a little more complicated than a normal i7 board, and the EVGA forum is not that helpful compared to here.

208 blck on an SR-2, which I think is actually processor-limited at the moment - anyone have that beat? Of course, mine uses the most electricity of any of our SR-2s...there may be a trade-off between raw speed and efficiency somewhere around the 200MHz bclk mark. Still, I'd love to see what others are using for bios settings. I may shut mine down this even to switch to Linux - I'll record where my current settings are. I encourage everyone else to do the same. This should help folks like Noble here to not repeat the mistakes we have made.

Yup I do have that gulftown board and just updated its BIOS, but I can't afford another $700+ cpu for a while. :) Thanks guys!

Ordered the SR-2 a few days ago, bought two Xeons from Musky, pulled 6GB of DDR3-1600 from my spare rig, dug up a 850Watt PSU, ordered the motherboard tray/backplate SR-2 combo from Mountain Mods, got in my Cooler Master N520 coolers, burned out an academic license copy of Windows 7, and found my tube of Shin-Etsu thermal paste.

I can't wait for this board to show up!!!!!!

Nice stuff. Can't wait to see how it folds for you.

Fold On!

6 x 1GB chips? Sounds like you are ready. The chips should be there tomorrow.

The nicest I've ever owned! That 6GB of DDR3 is in 2GB DIMMS; but I plan to buy another 6GB this week. I will contract someone in the Industrial Tech dept at my school to help me fab a custom case for the SR-2, utilizing that motherboard tray/rear panel I bought.

Stay tuned!
