the OP msg'd me about that last night & I asked him to add it to his list. There was no mention of crossfire before. But I explained that that is important information to know so we could help pick out a motherboard accordingly.
 
Its not that any game requires it i just want to future proof my build as much as possible.

Spider can you look at post 5 & put those answers into your questioairre.. It makes it a hell of alot easier on us to have all the information in 1 post.
 
Crossfire/SLI later is not future proofing. 99% of the time you'd be better off selling your current card and buying a newer, high end card to replace it. More consistent performance, a new featureset, less heat, less power draw, less noise.

The only reason Crossfire or SLI ever makes sense is if you buying two of the highest end cards available (6950/6970 for AMD or GTX 570/580 for Nvidia right now) at the same time or within weeks of eachother because you're running a 30" or larger (or AMD Eyefinity / Nvidia surround) display at 2560x1600 or greater. At 1920x1200 and below you're much better off with a single high end card.

Either budget for both cards now, or drop mutl-GPU support as a requirement for the build. Considering your current budget -- not bad at all, but somewhat limiting -- I'd save the cash for elsewhere in the setup, like the monitor, PSU, or CPU.

Ignore this.. Its not that hard to make sure you have a mobo capable of it later down the road.. Sometimes products come out of nowhere & 2 cheap cards does make more sense then a single high end (the 4850 was a good example of this)..

Plus its also very feasable that when new generations are released you can buy a match to your current card DIRT cheap.. So if you can buy it dirt cheap then your isnt worth all that much to sell.. So it makes more sence not to sell a product at its low point for performance per dollar

So you're willing to pay the extra $20 for a Western Digital drive with the same performance as the Samsung drive I listed earlier? And that Coolermaster IS a steel case despite what Newegg says.
 
I would honestly pay a 20 dollar premium for a Samsung drive over WD at this point.. & you would have to pay me to use a seagate drive.

As far as the Case goes... From someone with 1st hand experience with the Antec 300.. Its not a good case for long video cards.. Not only do you end up loosing HDD bays like in the HAF, but you also then have to get the end of the card inside of the 3.5" bays & its a PITA to work with the drives when there facing front to back... I love Antec quality, but I cant recommended the Antec 300 for ANYONE looking to build a gaming rig. The Haf 912 is a VERY VERY feature rich case for the money..

Its your money to do with what you want.. But if your here asking for help then please recognize that we have some experience in this. The Samsung HDD & the HAF 912 are not only a cheaper pair, but there the better products as well.
 
I agree. Samsung F3 is the hdd to get. The Antec 300 is old and outdated. Seagates are OK, as long as you stick to the newer 7200.12 drives.

While I believe it will be a better fit then an antec 300, That case should be a few bucks cheaper then the haf 912 as far as features go, instead its 20 dollars more. I can tell you honestly I dont like the HAF 912 appearance either, But If I was in the market for a ATX case on any king of a budget the haf 912 based on features for the cost is the case I would go with..

& here is a pic of a antec 300 with a GTX 260 which is a shorter card then the 6950.. You can see what I so highly recommended against it.

Thanks for the picture. I cant go with the 912 its to bulky looking.

ok, well as far as design for that price goes the next best designed case for long video cards in my option is a NZXT Vulcan. You will notice that that is a mATX case, but sicne your build list doesnt have a crossfire mobo I am assumeing thats off the table so I would change to ASUS M4A88TD-M..
