I've played all the games you listed. In all all cases its up to the player to make the game.
FFXIV just being out...there is only really 2 things TO do. You can go combat/explore, or you can craft. Now that I'm higher level as a combat class, we've been exploring new dungeons and zones for things to kill. I dont see how that's different that the rest.
EVE - kill small ships, make money, skill, fly bigger ships, kill bigger ships, make more money. Combat/Explore or trade. PVP was a bonus. End game was really...what...huge PVP warfare? Sleepers?
LORTO - kill small enemies, make money, skill, kill bigger enemies, make more money. End game...raids, big mobs?
WoW - start small...move from zone to zone...skill up...gear...Raids...
I find it hard that a game 1 month out is expected to give a 5 year experience.
