steaming pile of crap still. I honestly am baffled how they could destroy that franchise so badly with their MMO's.

Specific snippet from the interview with Yoshida:

Q: In the survey, you ask what content players would like to see added. One of the options is an auction house, which seems quite specific. What was your aim with this question?
A: Yoshida: The auction house is a system that was implemented in Final Fantasy XI. This is something I haven't revealed before, but I believe we focused too much on FFXIV being different from FFXI. As a key to having a vibrant economy, there should exist a system for players that is easy to use. If that means an auction house, then shouldn't we work aggressively to implement it? Making everything original isn't necessarily correct, I think.

Main problem with FFXIV, right there IMO.
i dont know about ff14, BUT, if they remade ff7 with proper graphics and left the story and characters intact, it would sell like hotcakes!
What do you think caused the massive problems with XIV ?
The attempt to include the PS3 as a system along with the PC? Was XI's ui as satanic as XIV's?
Do the designers play games in a bubble? Did they learn and take anything good from other games? It's ok to steal good ideas... I... I am at a loss, for both words, and the 80 bucks I paid for the collectors edition. But this game had one redeeming value. NEVER PUT FAITH IN ANYTHING.
This game has destroyed almost every scrap of good will and expectations. I am now a hollow husk of a human being, expect the absolute worst so as to shield myself from the horror I experienced playing that game.
The only company inoculated so far is bioware. But I am so damaged now, before ffXIV I might have bought rift for the hell of it, now I am trying the beta first.
Funny how getting burned (or incinerated) makes one more careful and paranoid.
nope and i doubt theyll recover from this. I dont understand as history shows us with MMO you need to nail the launch. I still dont see why they feel they have to rush. When they know if they rush it will be a disaster.
While I agree that MOST MMO's fail if the launch fails, there are some exceptions. EVE was terrible at launch and most people hated it. While its not as popular as WOW today, its definitely doing well for itself and has a pretty good niche market.
I still hold out hope for this, because I WANT a good FF MMO, I just don't have one .
in ffxiv u cant form a party, grab a chocobo, and head to a good exp spot for a few hours of fun?
Being an FFXI player, I think it safe to say that FFXIV is nothing like FFXI - minus a few arguable points. It is my understanding that it was the prior producer's goal to intentionally NOT make FFXIV like FFXI. However, with all of the feedback from players being ignored during the Beta periods regarding this, the producer continued down the path of a NON-FFXI like MMO. I could be wrong, it was just what I had read in the Beta Forums at the time.
While there are those who dont want a FFXI 2 game, and I can agree with that, at the same time, I do want the funamentals that are Final Fantasy in a Final Fantasy game. While I am not the most die-hard FF person, I was truely disheartened during the Beta and CE early start about how Non-FF the game felt.
Again, with my opinion being pre- 1.15a patch centered, grinding in parties was NOT fun. It was actually a hinderance. You were more effective solo...as slow as that can be. My LS did GuildLeve's every night. We pushed hard for 3 to 5 hours to get them all grinded out, linked up, and such to maximze SP gains. However, thru personal math (which could be WAY off) I had concluded that if I spent the same amount of time in a mine killing Puk's vs Being off with my LS Leve-Grinding - I would come out with more SP. The only drawback was not getting the Class based token rewards for turning in Leve's, or earning the reputation to spawn NM's.
After 3 weeks of the same Leve's, I decided I had enough. Unlike FFXI where you could find a "camp" and just have the puller do the work bringing mobs in a chain to the group, the 15 man Guild Leve parties are CONSTANTLY on the move. Its GO GO GO for 5 hours. The social aspect of the group is lost due to having to constantly move (I use a controller, so my KB is far) I dont have time to type. Voice chat is OK, but 15 people trying to talk doesnt work either. Its just not the same as the smaller XP groups where you had time to socialize during XP runs.
While I'm not attempting to discourage anyone from playing, I think its helpful to understand that FFXIV was intentionally "Not-FFXI" from the beginning, and the new producer and team will need time to slowly convert the game from what it is, to what it needs to be. When that happens, I certainly hope I'll be back to enjoy it
See that's where they made a mistake of making this as a Not FFXI like. The system on FFXI works well and it just needed a little tweak to make it more appealing to casual gamers. I love the FFXI game system where you can solo to lvl 10 and start partying. Those first 10 levels gives you the time to learn the system and from then on, you need to learn how to be an effective member to maximize the xp in group. if 1 member out of 6 not doing their job, your party wouldnt be as effective as the other parties.
I hope they bring back the FFXI play style and the system that works on FFXI. Also the skillchain is way better than what they have right now. (whatever that is). Also bring backt he auction house. Kind of stupid not to have that. IMO
