ATI has alot of free time on their hands since they dont bother to work on anything else, i.e. Linux drivers lol.

Its sad when the FX 5200 captures the crown from your highest performance card in another OS :).

This is like say "Hey, my car has a supercharger and yours has a turbo, but lets go race on a track that only allows me to use my S/C, but you have to bypass your turbo!"
The only thing I am disappointed about is that nVidia has Ubi so tight by the balls that they wont even let the try 3Dc yet. That said... yes, seems SM3.0 is giving a little boost in performance. I still feel like the X800 had a little more planning in it, and not like it was jacked up at the last minute to stay competitive.

I'm waiting to see what [H] finds about SM3.0 and what happens when real games start using 3Dc.

roflmfao you guys just don't get it "oh, my x800 looks just the same" -- it's supposed to, dumbass. the difference is in performance. even the GT was able to beat the xt platinum in some benches, but noo lets disregard that as not viable evidence, because for some reason or another there's got to be one pixel on that damn screen that's different, and by god that's cheating.

I guess the x800 being nothing more than a 9800 pro with more pipes 3dc and temporal AA has nothing to do with ATI being able to crank out drivers faster.

Seriously... all you boys bitched and moaned when the Ultra is getting smoked on some benchmarks, but now are all full of yourselves. The funniest part is the trolls that speak out the most don't even own the hardware. I have no problem buying whatever I see is the best card at the time. Right now, I still don't trust Nvidia.

I am willing to accept the 6800 is better as long as it's a level playing field with drivers, patchs, and versions of DX that are available to the general public. Mostly, I want to see all the "huge" IQ improvements Nvidiot marketed with SM3.0

nVidia doesn't have UBI by the balls. ATI has tried to market DXT5 for a LONG time now and they couldn't talk anyone into using it lol.

Face it, ATI shot themselves in the foot by not including support for SM 3.0 and full 32-bit floating-point color.
 
You people seem to forget the last fiasco(s) that NVIDIA has pulled... I understand why some people rise to defend their ati cards, fuck they deserve respect...

NVIDIA lately decided to impress the community with sm3. It is still to be seen what real improvements in IQ it would bring... So right now FPS are useless as means of measure.

All im saying is that I find it hard right now and in consideration of all past things to trust NVIDIA and the new sm3 rage...

Besides the fact that i hate nvidia's marketing strategy... They look like the bully in the school yard trying to beat on the competition...

Eintein once said, if they would be right only one would be necesary, referring to a Nazi book called "100 authors against Einstein". And i think ati pretty much plays the same cards as einstein... (not inferring nvidia is nazi in any way, please)

So they had a better architecture than the GF-FX when they were both released. Big deal.

It is safe to say that nVidia had a bit of catching up to do. They may have passed ATI a bit, but it is yet to be determined if their 'new features' will become commonly implemented.

Okay, I think it is time every single godamn person in this thread read the last page of the anandtech review. I think you'll see they didn't really praise or condemn the SM3.0 optimizations... they don't know exactly what to think yet. Nobody does. All you fucking idiots that think this is the end of ATI need to RTFR. All of you fucking idiots that think SM3.0 is worth nothing need to RTFR. Nobody know what viable improvements we will actually see when playing these games on our OWN computers is yet.

personally i am going to wait till the official patch comes out and figure out whats best then. I guess there is advantage to waiting for a 250g 939pin moboard. i get to really see whos card is better before I upgrade :)

but you still acting like its not a good thing, a non-fanboy wouldnt react like you did. he would be happy for any improvements in performance, especially big ones like this. why do you still encorage to down sm3.0 when things are looking better for it, if you say you are not a fanboy? i dont get you man.

You can already get the drivers, patch comes out monday, and you can grab DX9.0c with the SP2 beta or install it by itself with a little work.

I'm taking a non-stance. I think everyone is overreacting. Anand's tests have favored the nVidia cards in the lead in the past in farcry, whats new? It is not a bad thing. It is a good thing is a sense that new technology is being tested and developed. Is it going to be a good thing for THIS generation of video cards and more importantly major games? We'll see.

There will be alot of MrUnHappy when they don't get close to the performance shown from a hand made demo from Nvidia and no IQ improvements. That was anything but actual gameplay anad benched.
 
As a humble ATi user, I curse myself for mentioning this (as I expect any comment that doesn't praise the sm3 path should be looked down upon in this thread), but weren't there supposed to be changes to the game overall other than adding a specially coded path for nVidia's new hardware? If you go by Anandtechs coverage, there weren't any changes to the SM2 part of the game at all.

To mister happy go lucky... I own a 6800 ultra and am using the beta drivers from NV. I haven't seen any image quality degradation at all. The performance is definitely up too. So, maybe you will change that holier than thou attitude about the cheating. Ati cheated too in the past. Both are guilty. I will say this about the 6800 ultra, the image quality going from my 5900xt to it was a huge improvement.
