Far Cry 5

Gameplay-wise, I just hope the game doesn't make a bow & arrow the almighty best weapon like so many other games do. In the last couple FC games you were either rocking a bow for the whole game or you didn't switch to anything else until you got a mini-vulcan.

The fact that their silent and powerful as all fuck from massive distances never takes reality into account.

Maybe consoles don't use auto-aim on the B&A so the devs make it more over-powered because it requires manual aim. On PC obviously it makes no difference, so we get a super strong bow.
It also only fires 1 shot at a time, and the arrow itself has a travel distance/arc, making it harder to use.

That's definitely what they need to do, but just about no games does. The arc on arrows is never realistic (if it's even there), games don't have wind (or human error), and games always allow you to prep another arrow almost instantly. Not that it matters because it's rare that they don't insta-kill. Plus, nearly every game has a crosshair or sight you can use so quickly that mouse aiming with one is just plain ridiculous.

Still super interested I just still fear they will make me have AI buddies like wildlands. that will make or break me buying it. I loved 2, 3, and 4.

Far Cry 4 and Primal didn't do it for me, hopefully there's enough of an overhaul in 5 to make it worth playing.
I like when I'm confident enough in a game to pre-order it... Not in this case.

Yea 4 and Primal did nothing for me as well. REALLY hope this ends up being good, I played through 3 twice.

I haven't pre-ordered it but I'll probably end up spending $60 on it either way.

Looking forward to this game even more after the latest gameplay footage.

which footage was that?...the game is growing on me...I'm actually more excited for the DLC and map editor then the base game but I love that Ubisoft has gone full crazy mode for this game- Frankenstein-ing every crazy mode and feature into 1 game...that plus the photogrammetry

Wonder if they'll ever make the DLC work? Its been over a year since Watch Dog 2's release and the DLC still doesn't work. I suppose that is the problem with shitty open world games; you have to jump through hoops to get the DLC to activate. If Far Cry 5's style is similar to WD2 I can't expect them to ever make it work. The beta testers probably can't be bothered to dick around in game to figure out how to make the DLC work and never get around to actually testing it which is why WD2 DLC is still missing in action. Thankfully Ubisoft's crap gets cracked though, so I suppose that may be the way to play FC5. I am sure the cracking reddit pages will offer some customer support unlike Ubi/Uplay shit.

One thing I have to say is that Ubi does seem to be putting a lot more effort into post-lauch updates and content - at least on some titles. I've not played Watch Dogs 2 so I'm afraid I don't know about the issues there. However, looking at what they've offered for The Division, RainbowSix Siege, and Ghost Recon Wildlands, not to mention the wonderful Assassin's Creed Origins , I am cautiously optimistic. The games I listed had not just "Season pass" content, but a variety of expansions/updates both free and paid, long after typical content support/addition cycles.

Hopefully the same will be true for FarCry 5 and this is Ubi's "New leaf" as it were. Between FarCry Arcade, the co-op campaign in the main game, and the listed expansions it seems like there's a fair bit of content. Hopefully the expansions will each be of significant length and introduce new content/mechanics and doing so would show that they've learned from the issues of Wolfenstein: The New Colossus' expansions which are both short and reuse so much main game content.

I went from being lukewarm about this to pretty much a certain buy...looks like Green Man Gaming has the cheapest pre-order for $53.99...Amazon doesn't seem to sell physical copies of new PC games anymore so they're Prime discount no longer applies...

Same here. I'm officially in as of this morning, bought the 1TB Samsung 860 EVO from Newegg for $275 which comes with a free copy of FC5. I was planning on getting this game anyway, pretty freaking stoked.

What changed to make everybody want to pre-order it all of a sudden?

nothing coming out in the immediate future...it's the dry season...plus this does look interesting...open world in a setting you don't usually find in video games, I hear the main villain is very good, excellent graphics, Ubisoft willing to change up their usual formula- there won't be towers you climb to unlock the map- you need to explore and interact with NPC's to unlock the map etc etc

didn't watch it...doesn't look like anything special...just a low budget short film to promote the game...I'd rather just play the game...here's the trailer...

WOW looks like they borrowed from the Wacko from Waco movie I'm still not sold on this game it looks good I had it preordered but just thought it was going to be another FPS game that will be forgotten that SSD deal is tempting but I really don't need another SSD I mean I would get it and just forget about it.

I was reading some reviews and surprisingly the mini-movie is getting decent reviews...critics are actually saying good things about the acting, production values etc...maybe if I'm bored out of my mind one day I'll check it out

Too bad I've made a promise to ubisoft: That they lost me forever as a customer if they refuse to refund me on the division.

The only time I ever assume I'm getting a refund (or would even attempt it) is Steam.
GOG, Uplay, Origin, etc, I wouldn't even bother trying. Same goes for key sellers like GMG.

It's less of a "Ubisoft problem" and more of a problem with the digital platform as a whole. You should really boycott everyone except Steam.

Also, don't pre-order games.

Just got an invitation from Ubisoft to Stess Test the Arcade mode starting on Friday. Will give me a good idea if a buy it right away or wait for a sale.

I tried to get a refund based on a clear case of misleading. They list the game on the ubisoft store as "single player" when it is anything but. You can't play without logging in to a server populated with other players. They threatened me with "putting restrictions" on my account if I tried anything. Well fuck them, I filed an official complaint against them with the European Consumer Centres Network.

Everyone goes ADHD when playing this game someone compared to Grand Theft Auto my thoughts exactly they added so much stuff you don't know what to make of it. I really want that Samsung 1 TB combo with Far Cry 4 for free but don't want to pay for it :oldman:best part of the video is 22:20 and the cheeseburger bear.

Has anyone found a discount of greater than 15% (that applies to not just the base game, but also the Deluxe and Gold Editions)? I've found a 15% discount from GreenManGaming, but I'm curious if they will be able to do 20% or even 25% close to launch. If they, or nobody else can do so - I will probably be buying from either GMG or Humble (which grants 10% as a Humble Monthly subscriber, plus gives you another 5% back in Humble Credit if you choose. ) .

Oh, for those who played FarCry 4 and saw/heard about the "Secret Ending" (or better yet, wanted it to continue/play the game in that "mode"!)- does anyone think/have read anything about FC5 offering some similar sort of easter egg? I saw a preview discuss that you could change how you'd react to various characters, including the Eden's Gate leaders... so it would be nice if they offered more than simple "Let Boss A die or go free/recruit" or an end of the game FarCry staple of "pick Ending A or Ending B".

What didn't you like?

I too am curious. I've not played it yet myself. Its also noteworthy that I believe the Stress Test (as it was announced) was for the Multiplayer "Arcade" - the place where official and player-created maps could provide new content; not unlike StarCraft II's Arcade I am thinking. If this is the case, its probably not really a good analysis of the game - even the Arcade mode - to look at it during a stress test of all things (ie performance likely at the worst at certain points) and if Arcade mode pre-launch is without any real content - there hasn't been time for people to create it yet!

Single player, as well as co-op multiplayer in the "main game world" is probably a very different animal from a barebones Arcade I would guess, but I am curious what was negative about his experience.

Yeah, I have no interest in the MP whatsoever. I'm hoping that the SP experience is at least as good as FC3's (haven't played 4 or Primal). Hopefully it will be awesome and find ways (besides new scenery) to differentiate it from the previous games.

Far Cry 5 Has Microtransactions, Campaign Is Playable Offline

Far Cry 5's microtransactions will be available for single-player and co-op, and apparently head-to-head multiplayer as well...it'll probably make gamers happy to learn that all of Far Cry 5's microtransaction items are cosmetic only; they do not affect gameplay...

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/far-cry-5-has-microtransactions-campaign-is-playab/1100-6457460/

I consider good art style to enhance gameplay or themes. STALKER gained recognition for its rotting Cold War installation look, Mirror's Edge had a unique art style which helped add to the themes it was trying to portray. So as far as I am concerned, that is false. It does affect gameplay. The problem is gamers seem all too happy to support this model and turn every game into TF2. Don't recall which game started the trend, but I think Valve should get some of the blame because they obviously popularized the concept of ruining a game post release with cosmetic garbage.

That being said I don't have any interest in FC5 MP. I just hope the SP doesn't have obvious MP oriented features and ques throughout the game. Floating name tags, point scoring systems and whatnot. Seems to be a growing trend.
