Far Cry 5

So I just broke the helicopter retrieval companion quest (Adelaide). I was in the chopper and accidentally killed a different quest NPC with the machine guns.
It reset that other quest, and dumped me back on the ground and now the heli is gone but the objective still says deliver it. Found other people on google with a similar problem who say the heli will randomly spawn at some point in the future...

Reloaded checkpoint, still no heli. It's perma broken. Nice testing, ubi... lol.

I also have a bugged mission from the druggy sister. She talked to me and I got a quest called "Walk The Path", there's nothing in my log but it says "You will get your consumables back when you finish the quest". I also keep getting random Bliss loading screens. I think I'm supposed to be doing something but it just dropped be back in the world after a drug cutscene and there's no indicators.

This game is quite broken and very glitchy, lots of issues with quest objectives overlapping and conflicting. I may have to restart from the beginning.

Also unrelated, I noticed the game ignores about half of your companion kills for the Challenge perk. Cheeseburger had to kill 50+ peggies before it counted 10.

One more: I'm using 2 animal companions, which means they can't resurrect me if I die. But everytime I die I have to hold down spacebar for about 10 seconds to "give up".

Definitely feels like they rushed this one out the door. Lacking polish.

Did you go back to where you first picked up TULIP and had to kill the VIP that was flying it? Should still be at the original location and you'll have to fly it back to the Marina again.

Strange. I've had zero glitched or bugged quests. Though it does get annoying occasionally when its not clear where you're supposed to go next because it doesn't highlight it on the map. Oh well, with exploration I end up finding it.

Strange. My counts have been pretty on the money. But I think the companion has to be solely responsible for the kill, meaning if you put bullets into the guy then the kill won't count for the companion.

Animal companions will resurrect if they're nearby and able. I'd suggest maybe slow down a bit and try to relax, not everything that seems like a bug is one.

They were definitely all bugs aside from the pets thing. I pulled an old save from the cloud and fixed it all.

Died and reloaded multiple times, 100% broken. The helicopter was GONE. Like I said there are posts about this on the Ubi support forum, it's very easy to lose the heli.

Yes it was a bug. Getting kidnapped is normal but the shit that came afterwards wasn't. The game would kick me to a load screen randomly every few minutes, then drop me right back where I was. Then a few minutes later, it would do it again.

FWIW I only noticed this with Cheeseburger.

I've played lots and lots and lots of Ubisoft games for hundreds upon hundreds of hours. I can tell the difference between a "normal quality" ubisoft game and a "buggier-than-usual Ubisoft game". I don't think I've ever broken a save, TWICE IN ONE SITTING, in a Ubisoft game before.

The combat music is so loud and annoying I can't even hear anything else beside its screetching. There's no Music Volume slider, so this is the first game I ever had to turn music off entirely.

the Clutch Nixon music is annoying as hell...I needed to re-try the wingsuit and airplane challenges multiple times so I muted the volume until I completed them

I also noticed the music kicks on when the guards get alerted, even if you're not detected yet. That messed me up for a while. It's weird to be sneaking around a base taking enemies out with high-tempo rock music playing.

Regarding the 3 main "regions" , how is everyone playing? Are you "meant" to basically clear one region entirely before going to the other two? At the beginning, I followed the instructions of the initial fellow who helps you out and suggests you go John's region first. I now have a little over 2/3 of his rebellion meter filled (which prompted 2 story missions regarding him). Of course, I only have 3 companions currently, all from his region. I've not been to the other areas as of yet and I'm wondering if it seems you are kind of meant to go all around, get all of your companions first, and then do missions to gain varying Rebellion levels (ie get to level 1 in each area first, as opposed to fully clearing one single area etc) and perks etc... to unlock guns and skills to help you when you go up against each cult leader. Are things notably more difficult in Jacob or Faith's areas by the way?

Oh, and what counts as a "Lieutenant"? That doesn't mean one of the main cult leaders does it? I notice the first "holster" perk just requires points, oggering you 2 full sized weapons along with one pistol-sized. However, the second Holster perk requires killing "a lieutenant" . I figured that either meant a higher level "no name" cultist that is more durable (like in previous FarCry games), but as I've not seen any ofthose yet (Maybe they are in Jacob or Faith's areas?) I have to wonder if it means actually finishing off one of the Seed cult leaders themselves?

Lastly, does anyone have experience with Nick, the small plane pilot companion? His perk text suggest he can do strafing runs and/or drop bombs. Is there a way to tell him which to do and when? What's his standard engagement behavior? I notice that he seems to just kind of circle overhead which is fine - at some times he kind of flags cultists but I am not sure exactly how that works. Giving him a direct target/attack order means he will often drop a bomb on them, I've found. However, I don't know if there's a way to get him to automatically pick random targets if I'm (non-stealth) in battle . Is there any way to get him to land and give you a ride so you can bail out with the Wingsuit, shoot from the passenger side/gunner, or you fly the plane with him as your copilot?

Oh one neat thing I noticed - after many games when it didn't work, I notice that generally your hired guns will get into vehicles with you which is a nice touch - I had an escort mission where besides my sniper lady companion and a generic soldier, I had 3 others in my squad and they all pathed very well, including getting into a boat together. The one notable exception so far to this is Boomer the dog - it seems odd he doesn't jump into the back of a pickup truck, the seat of your car with is head out the window etc.. etc...? Or am I missing something and he actually does this? Now I can understand the bear not being able to ride in a vehicle normally (though it would be humorous to see him try), and I'm not sure if the cougar gets into any vehicles, but it seems that the dog (and perhaps the cougar as well) should be able to do so.

Regarding the 3 main "regions" , how is everyone playing? Are you "meant" to basically clear one region entirely before going to the other two? ...

you can skip around between regions freely...some of the missions pretty much require you to crossover into another area...you don't have to do it in any order...although I would tackle the Main story missions first in any region...yes a lieutenant is one of the main cult leaders in each region...as far as Nick you can select any enemy or location and he will bomb it using his airplane...not really good if you're going for a quiet stealth approach but the game is really about causing as much chaos as possible

For some reason, this game reminds me of Mad Max, as far as the piddling around. This is the first game since DS3 that I have actually wanted to invest time into everything else, I'm like fuck this give me my guitar.

Is there any way to drive cars without being attacked constantly? Or are you just supposed to ignore all the guards you pass that shoot at you. I see all the cars in the shop and idk what they're really for. I've been running everywhere on-foot and eventually switched to the airdrop perk.

Doesn't seem like it. What annoys me is the aggressive spawns will start to cause the game to delete things - I rode the Death Wish to an objective, some shit went down, and the car vanished. While it's possible it was stolen by a random NPC, it's also possible the about eight cars that showed up caused the game to reclaim resources or something. Same happens to bodies after a while.

A car delivery service would be nice, too. Might actually be in the game and I haven't unlocked it yet. Doesn't seem like it though.

Once you get an attack helicopter and auto repair the game is ezmode on any difficulty. I think I cleared out 3 outposts in like ten minutes.

Pair in the flying npc buddies and LOL

Yep I forced myself to stop using the attack heli. You could probably clear all the open world objectives in a few hours with it.

I think it's designed for a gamepad which might be harder to aim. And by comparison the gun planes are totally worthless, which is weird.

Noticed something that was kind of neat.

Oh yeah that's war fleet time.

as you start to liberate regions the constant road attacks become much less frequent...which makes sense in terms of the overall story...once you loosen the grip the cult has then the fewer enemy patrols there will be

Now that I've spent a stupid number of hours playing, only two things (in aesthetic terms) stand out as missed opportunities. First, where is the goddamn killcam? I know not everyone likes the feature, but crazy lucky shots - especially with the bows - feel so underwhelming without it. Second, why is there no weather? Unless I'm misremembering or thinking of another game, I'm fairly sure there was rain in a previous Far Cry, but in 5 it's always either sunny day or clear night. "Montana in summer" is one lazy ass excuse.

There was no weather in FC4 either. A light snowfall does not count.

eventually you don't need vehicles at all. Just get the air drop perk, and just pick a location near whereever you want to be and air drop to it. you can soar a good 600m from one place to something you need to get to.

Yeah but they got lazy with everything else. Protag is silent this time. And all the cutscene NPCs refer to you with gender-neutral pronouns like "they" and "them" because they only recorded one set of dialog. It's like what happened to Fallout 4 but much worse.

They pushed an update out for the PC, consoles will get it Monday.

One issue I had after the patch, I couldn't play it. The lag was SO bad. Like 5 fps. Every time I run it, Windows asks me if I want to allow it to make changes. I always have hit yes. Well, after the patch, I hit no, and everything was back to normal. So, I'm not sure what's going on there.

I was doing the cow herding quest and it actually completed instantly as soon as I shot the bull. I didn't even have to put the cows back into the pen. I just chalked it up as another bug.

Anyone else noticing a lot of empty or useless locations? Found this giant lodge and it's totally empty. No friendly or enemy NPCs. Just a few lootable items and nothing else.

That lodge turns into something for someone after you run them out of another location if I remember right

Yeah, certain locations seem to be empty or at least mostly empty if you don't trigger a plot point first. That lodge is probably main plot based.

I've cleared John's area and have just moved into Conor McGregor's area. I do appreciate that the different zones do maintain their own aesthetics.
Weapon-wise, I've totally given up on anything except the .50 sniper rifle, the heavy machinegun, and the bow. Pistols seem to take way too many rounds to kill anything. Headshots included. Even the .44 magnum and powered up .45's. Yet those 3 items mow people down like mad. Not sure if this is because I'm on a pad or what, but there is a massive discrepancy between the accuracy/damage on those weapons vs. all the others.

i think there are some conversations where they didn't even do that. you just get referred to as male no matter what.

Protip: If you fast travel somewhere before the end credits roll, you can continue playing.

During one of the kidnap missions, you lose all your items. After the mission it says "Visit a shop to get your gear back" but I didn't see any prompts or anything when I got there? I managed to get all my weapons back obviously since I already owned them. But I spent like $10,000 re-buying all my grenades, special ammo, etc. Did everyone else have to do that?

Doesn't really matter since I have $80k of useless money. -_-

Usually once you obtain a weapon it'll show up in the shop with a little checkmark in the corner. That essentially means its free. Upgrades still cost money, but the weapon itself should be free. Items you haven't unlocked will have a $ instead.
I'm not a huge fan of that UI (or the weapon swap UI in general). It feels odd having to "buy" items in the shop even if they're free.

I wish there were more hidden weapons or something. Not necessarily even powerful ones, just something goofy to get. I just grabbed all the cigarette lighters and the reward was pretty meh.

As far as my go-to..... The High level AK with a medium range scope, a 50 cal, a 44mag with a scope, and the short grenade launcher. The ak on 3 round burst is pretty nice. Especially after you can carry 270 rounds.

Anyone suddenly have audio drop outs start happening to them in this?

I really hate the mission design in this game. Hit a threshold and they continuously spawn capture teams until they get you. Airplanes, helicopters, trucks. The whole process is so stupid it breaks any type of immersion.

Is there any way to avoid being captured? With one of them I was in a plane and the game just faded out.

Yeah the "capture" missions are pretty awful.

Someone must have used a bliss bullet.
