Fallout 4

I think he had a chance if he simply sent it in and ia nice letter asking to pre order.

However the letter he sent was basically begging and making the assumption they were going to just give him the game instead.

Plus the fact he posted about it before sending it to them and wants a "response."

Think he kind of has a 50/50 chance now.

If he simply sent them the caps+ A nice non-begging letter asking if they would accept his pre order in bottle caps and saying if not that he appreciates thier games and thanks them for making them (And didn't put out some press release shit)they would have easily accepted it for good PR.

it wasn't really begging, it was more of an in character role playing letter.

tho he should of documented it and waited to post about it until after he received a response.

Finally got them to let me know i had the Fallout 4 CE ordered. :D
Went to the Beth store page yesterday and ordered it, but it got stuck on "Submitting Order" and then the page crashed. Only way i figured i had maybe gotten it was that i was charged for the amount on my Bank account.
So got an e-mail saying i had ordered it after i wrote them asking about it.

Already marked up like 100% or so on Ebay for the CE pre-orders and mostly OOS everywhere else so happy it went through.

Is it too late to even contemplate on pre-ordering the Collector's edition?

So far I can only find Bethesda as my major source of hope that they will ship to where I live... I wonder if they will ever come back in stock again..

Since this is a collector's edition and not a limited edition I would think your chances are good this early ... I suspect that Bethesda will adjust the orders (for now) to try and meet the preorder demand ... if they are making money on the CE (most likely) then it is beneficial for them to build as many as they can sell for full price (might be a rude surprise for some of the eBay sellers) ... only those who wait until closer to the launch date will be at high risk

Re-installed FO:NV with several mods...starting from the beginning since I never made it more than 4-5 hours or so into the game before. Played the crap out of FO3 though.

NV was less buggy for me then 3.

Looks like the power armor makes you OP. But pretty cool how it's implemented like you're in a mech.

I've been playing NV lately and only using a katana since the early part of game. (Got the DLC that had it) Kind of fun using no guns, explosives or energy weapons and no VATS. :D

Power Armor always had made you OP in all of the Fallout games, just in Fallout 3 in the Operation Anchorage DLC, the power armor it gives you has obscene amount of health so it essentially was maintainence free. The only DLC I am aware of that put deliberate hinderance on armor was The Pitt (which confiscates your entire inventory up to a certain point) and Point Lookout (mobs were scripted to do an extra amount of damage after DR calculation). However the armor that is more OP than Power Armor IMHO is Chinese Stealth Armor, the thing has a permanent Stealth boy effect.

In NV it's less of an issue because a lot of armors in that game had similar DT to power armor, and there are many highly damaging monsters.

Except when you got to rank 30 or w/e the cap was after all the DLC in FO3. The super mutants at that level were ridiculous, they could kill you in 2-3 shots since they had those tri-beam lasers.

Dang, power armor looks fun in this game. I've always played the stealthy thief with explosives as the power armors in the previous games never looked interesting. Hopefully the power armors can do stuff other than fly like giving a charge attack or a shockwave. Otherwise, I'll stick to my Sexy Sleepwear.

Did you do a [H]ard install or just went casual?
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1aKHLNQUpK4qL6xxGDPj_KTbvzuG_7mYNu9_IF37bmLI/pubhtml

Posted this link in the FO4 announcement thread. Unfortunately, cannot try out this list myself at the moment :(

Holy shit...no, didn't go that [H]. Mainly just installed the 4GB / stutter / crash fixes, NMC texture pack and the YUP unofficial patch. I'd like to get some other texture replacements (NMC seems to mainly just do the environment, not the characters/weapons) but I don't want to go crazy on the gameplay tweaks since I haven't really played New Vegas for more than 5 hours or so in the past. Want to experience it (mostly) stock.

i dont know the pip boy is just a odd case that holds your smart phone... it does not actually have any electronics to it...

I might finally have a use for the wife's Nexus 7 that she never uses anymore.
Will be awesome if I can use that app in conjunction with the game.

Anyone else get a bit of nostalgia and fire up Fallout 3 vanilla? I was looking at the Steam sale and about to buy the FO3 Ultimate when I remembered that I had a hard copy.

Didn't even make it out of the tutorial before I crashed. Promptly installed the latest patch, 1.7 and have been fine for an hour.

Waiting for Fallout Shelter to hit Android. Freaking game has rocketed to #1 on Apple's app store, beating even Facebook Messenger, Youtube and Instagram apps. Madness. http://www.phonearena.com/news/Move...r-catapults-to-1-app-in-iTunes-Charts_id70574

Let's hope this instant overnight success doesn't go to Bethesda's heads- "Hey we can just focus on mobile games, its so EAAAAASSY"

I downloaded it on my ipad 2 just to check it out. Ran slow as molasses and crashed on me often.

Then I loaded it on my wife's ipad 3 and it wasn't until about 5 hours into the game that I finally crashed for the first time. I probably have 10 active hours on the game already (and still just one crash). The game is not that deep though, so once you've built about 4 or 5 levels, you've seen 95% of what you're already going to see in the game. Doesn't get more challenging than that. Even with the faster processor, the game does occasionally slow to a crawl and needs restarting. You would think that the newest ipad air would play this smoothly.

To Bethesda's credit, the option to pay to win isn't in-your-face obvious. And had I paid, I probably wouldn't have enjoyed the game as much as I have.

^ Interesting. It also just occurred to me that Fallout Shelter and the companion Fallout 4 app that's supposed to launch alongside the game are two different things. The companion app will be the one that runs on your device when you insert it into the PipBoy from the CE, but ofcourse won't require a Pipboy. I'm just hoping they have both iOS and Android both ready to go at launch, unlike iFruit in GTA V.

They said it will work on both iOS and Android, so they should. It sounds like Fallout Shelter being on iOS first might be due to that vague statement Todd Howard made about working with Apple on the game.

3 crashed now in the first 2 hours of play on FO3 updated to 1.7. I remember having to reload to crashes when I played this game the year in came out, but not this often!

Maybe I'd get less crashes if I bought the Steam version?

edit: I guess the ini had to be edited to account multi-core processors.

An interesting article about Fallout 4 facts on Game Informer,

http://www.gameinformer.com/games/f...etails-fans-need-to-know-about-fallout-4.aspx

Some neat tid bits,

  • Bethesda is tweaking the way auto-scaling works for Fallout 4 to create more challenge. "We call it rubberbanding; we'll have an area [where enemies scale from] level 5 to 10, and then this area will be level 30 and above," Howard says. "You'll run into stuff that will crush you, and you will have to run away."

  • V.A.T.S. has received some slight overhauls. It no longer completely pauses the action, and critical shots are no longer random. If you look at the videos, you'll notice a "critical" bar on the bottom of the screen that the player fills. Once it is fully filled you can decide when to use it. Your luck skill determines how fast the bar increases, and there are perks that dig into how criticals work and how you use them.

  • When you play a modded version, the game will make a copy of your save file so your pure state game will be preserved.

  • Combat is receiving a major stimpak thanks to some consulting with id Software to improve the second-to-second shooting. Bethesda's goal? To have the shooting stand shoulder to shoulder with the other great options on the market. The studio even hired away some Bungie talent to help with this remodel. With the new, built-from-scratch shooting system, Howard says Fallout 4 plays much more like a modern shooter. You can aim down the sights, use V.A.T.S., and play in first or third person.

Also disabled auto saves. There i a thread stickied in the steam forum with a lot of info on setup and moding. I am replaying 3 now.

I have to admit I was wrong to bash this game based on the initial trailer. After researching and watching E3 videos I'm super excited to return to the wastelands this November.

I'm very glad to hear that they've put some effort into improving the shooting mechanics. Those were by far one of the weakest parts of both FO3 and FO:NV.

They said it will work on both iOS and Android, so they should. It sounds like Fallout Shelter being on iOS first might be due to that vague statement Todd Howard made about working with Apple on the game.

If the PIPBoy app is truly a second screen app then the major portion of the programming is to keep the computer and smartdevice linked (presumably through the cloud) ... that might be easier to program across multiple devices and resolutions (and certainly the PIPBoy graphics aren't as sophisticated ... they are mostly lines and a few simple icons and sprites)

The Fallout Shelter game is much more dependent on the touch integration (which is still a little tricky on the Apple version), zooming, and it is an incredible battery hog (at least on iOS) so it is probably a resource hog ... this might be tougher to program across the large number of Android phones and tablets ... also, even though the IAP option is not mandatory for winning, the average iOS user is probably more likely to use it, making an Apple launch more attractive (as well as easier) ... but they have indicated they are working on an Android version

Based on what I am seeing with Fallout Shelter there is probably 2-3 weeks gameplay in it (unless they add more content ... or unless you are extremely OCD and must collect every weapon and outfit in the game), so even if they launch an Android version in August/September they will still have lots of time to wet people's appetites for FO4

Wow, am I the only one who wishes Criticals were still random? I mean when it's a 100% sure thing that takes away from the fun of seeing them happen, because you don't know "when" they happen that makes seeing them exciting when they do.

Hell I'd like to see critical failures make a return too...

I guess it is a trade-off ... maybe they could have both ... having a critical saved up adds some strategy for epic encounters ... but I agree that it was nice to have a random element for the everyday usage of the skill

Yeah but to me it makes crits really lose the "wow" factor they have, when you get that super-lucky crit that changes the tide of battle.

Making it 100% certain you already know "this will be a critical" leaves 0 surprise to that.

That's the entire point and fun and one of the reasons I used VATS over not using it.

Also for anyone interested in the digital pc version, greenmangaming has it for 25% off right now (making it 45 vs 59) with coupon: GRAB25-PERCNT-OFFNOW

hoping this and/or Battlefront gets bundled with Nvidia/AMD cards in the Fall so I can snag a code for cheap

When Fallout 4 arrives I want to go into the store where the ghouls are with medium armor, plenty of stimpacks, a combat shotgun, frag nades and a hell of a lot of shotgun ammo. They will get hit with at least one frag nade, two if I have enough time to throw another. After the nades, it is all shotgun, baby! Yeah! :D Should be one hell of a fight considering the number that were shown in the trailer. w00t! :p
