Fallout 4

Mine all sound like Homer Simpson named them: Shotty McShooty, Bzzzzt, El Explodo, and Stabby the Legend. Yeah, I'm probably not the most creative person...

Stabby the Legend. I like that one.

Don't feel bad, I named the one with the biggest barrel after a pornstar. It's not like I spent much time thinking of them either.

I misunderstood. Sorry.

Early on I wanted to know what mods were on them when I was comparing what I already had to what I was picking up. Then I started maxing out my gun nut and science perks and maxing out every gun as I got it.

Now when I find a gun I like, the first thing I do is max it out, so I don't need to know what mods are on it at a later point, I already know.

To each his own though.

S'all good. I get your point though. The mod progression is pretty linear with the exception for scopes and the auto or not option.

I may be in the minority here but I dislike a game that forces me to sleep and eat and crap like that. I hope it can be turned off.

It can and is. If you play below that difficulty you don't have to do it once they implement these changes. I'd be pleasantly surprised if they allow for individual modifications at given difficulty levels.

The bullet sponge enemies at Survival difficulty level are absurd anyways.

I'm happy enough with "Very Hard" although I'd say the sponge effect is a little but suspect there, too.

I agree, I'm not a big fan of the survival implementation in this game.

While I agree... if you go with the full sneak attack type, and don't get caught like I do because I attack day and night, in broad daylight, etc.......... anyway, you can kill anything really. I mean 2 or 3 shanks to the guy and most legendaries will go down.

sniper build here if it comes in range my big double .50 will likely drop it before it gets to me...

I'm running a pure pistol build with heavy reliance on sneak modifiers for bonus damage, but even Alpha Deathclaws are a 1-shot kill for me with my fast ROF "weak" pistol, my slow converted .50 is a no-brainer since it does double-damage on full health enemies so that first shot is a doozy.

TBH, on survival, this is the case most of the time. Because they really are spongey. And lots of things can rape you in seconds. I've only used snper randomly when I am aiming at enemies way off. so I can't say anythign with certainty. Also, my character is really spread out on the stats, as I just went in thinking stealth and that's it. In retrospect, I prolly shouldve chosen one type of weapon and went full tilt. MIght've been more fun .... but I like to try things.

That said, have you tried 3 or 4 vats equipment? My deliverer actually can't use all my ap in one go, though I am way too high level these days. Or try a frenzied weapon to cause some disruption.

Speaking of renaming weapons, I've been using Legendary Modification by teaLz, Modded a few stock and a couple of Legendaries for good ol' S&G. :D

Bored? Board!

Had to mod The Last Minute Legendary. The weapon was good on its own but, to me, this version is much more effective.

OP weapons are OP.

That said, I'm getting raped pretty hard trying to "defend the slog" if I fast travel directly, I die and my body is already slumping as the screen shows up. If I come in from far away, I still get killed by the 20 super mutants that come raging my way. *Sigh*

At which level are you playing to consider any of these weapons OP?

Survival Mode leaves much to be desired so I play at very hard and do not use VATS (never have with Fallout 4 or Fallout: New Vegas). With the way I play it makes survivability mode look like a joke.

No auto aiming.

No direct body part focus through VATS.

My character's success depends upon my real-life physical, mental and hand-eye coordination attributes. If any one of those attributes is 'out-of-tune' then my character more-than-likely dies a horrible death.

Yeah, I feel your pain. Especially with the Charred Feral Ghouls. Those bastards give me a 'run for my money' than the Super Mutants. If it weren't for the base defenses set-up at each settlement, my current character would have been toast from the get-go.

The defense missions are easy enough to solve. Just build a landing rug in a safe place, inside or on top of a building. The bigger annoyance is getting one of those missions, going there and finding nothing to defend. Hours later you leave, and then find you "failed" the mission. Thanks obama.

I'm at lvl 61, since I'm running around doing a lot of side quests... oddly, the main storyline is pretty dull to me. Meeting "Father" made me want to shoot him in the face, which I actually did but then reloaded.

I would say at any lvl to my current lvl on survival. Though, it's not like I don't understand. Like I've mentioned before Survival have incredibly spongey enemies which can easily lead you to death.... And it does... at least to me.

However, I still haven't used drugs, so I'll do that. I might mess aroudn with my skills too. I don't feel like doing melee anymore so I might reprime my skill trees to take out melee skills to gun skills.

This is probably true... I've only just started to play around a bit more with my settlements. So most of my settlements are utter crap right now. I might just go crazy with missile turrets on all my settlements now. I've already seen quite a few fun scenes with them. One of my settlements was attacked by ghouls and there bodes were flying so fast that I couldn't loot like 9 out of 10 of them.

Posting these in the event anyone is interested.

Also, finally got the Benevolent Leader Achievement yesterday which completes Steam Achievements for Fallout 4. Two settlements: Starlight Drive-in and The Slog, respectively, hit 100% happiness within two hours of each other.

I don't have a screenshot for The Slog so here is Starlight Drive-in.

Been working on building-up Oberland Station. Will add a settler beacon once I get the interior spiffied-up.

This is the second floor interior of the place I built in Sanctuary. The displays along each wall will contain most of the magazines found in the game.

I'd gander to guess that GECK will be released either prior to or at the time the first DLC is let loose. Makes perfect sense to me since I have a strong feeling the first DLC will contain new assets. If that is the case then what better time for releasing the GECK so mod authors can use those new assets.

I'm starting to wonder if GECK will ever even be released for FO4.

When that happens it means the enemies have not arrived yet. Feral Ghouls for example can be very slow in their approach. :D If you see no enemies, find a bed and sleep a hour. The enemies should then be right at your borders and fighting begins. If not then I dont know what is going on, never happened to me. The enemies always appeared when sleeping in town.

Haha, yea... I've even had one where I fast traveled and instantly got the completed mission because there was like... 2 ghouls attack or something.

Apparently you can create a settlement on Spectacle Island, and it has the largest build area of any settlement in the game.

Few questions:

1. What's the best way to get out there? Strap the Power Armor on and walk along the sea floor, or swim out there without power armor? I don't think there are any boats to be used anywhere in the game

2. If I setup a settlement out there, how does a supply line get out there? Is a rowboat big enough to hold a brahmin and provisioner spawned?

I got out there with a little bit of swimming and jumping on small plots of lands.

Supply line swims out there, it's quite funny to see them sitting in the sea with a floating brahmin.

Just swim from the fort, but there's some pretty bad bugs over there including a queen.

Swimming from The Fort is one way to get to Spectacle Island yet I prefer to swim from Warwick Homestead. It is a little bit shorter distance and there are less obstacles in the water along the way which can be a pain if you are in power armor.

And don't forget to find a way to the back side of the SeaLand containers on the North East corner, quite a few safes for your lock picking pleasure.

Meh, just throw on a hazmat suit and swim out there.

There's also a Luck bobblehead on a boat in the southeast-ish part of the island.

Some DLC has been announced, two add to the sandbox type gaming and one looks like it adds a Nick Valentine questline. I think I bought all the DLC for FO3 and FO:NV, so had I already ordered the FO4 season pass.

I admit the robot DLC looks very enticing for my terrible high charisma character I started in a hardcore run (or whatever that highest difficulty was called).

edit: Wow just noticed the blurb at the bottom about the price increase. I bought my season pass before the game was even released off GMG, got it for a reduced price. Seems a bit odd to increase the price from 30 bucks to 50 bucks. They imply that the price increase is because of the "Expanded DLC plan". FO3 and FO:NV had tons of DLC, I think they always had an idea of how much DLC they intended to make for FO4.

looks like some of it is going to be crap that adds on to the building of stuff...Makes me think of Sims add on packs.

i bet the extra DLC will just be "Stuff packs"

Yes, but their pricing structure is different. Previously it was $10 per DLC or $30 for the season pass. This time around it is:

Season Pass: $50 for $60 worth of content (per Bethesda)

March - Automatron: $10
April - Wasteland Workshop: $5
May - Far Harbor: $25

That leaves $20 worth of unknown content. Personally, I'm going to have a lot of fun with Automatron if it is as described. Sentry bot companion w00t! :D

The season pass will remain $30 until March 1st. Currently, the 20% off voucher at GMG works, bringing the total to $24. Seems like an easy decision to jump on early at that price.

In case it hasn't been mentioned before... DLC Closed Beta signup
Bethesda.net

I can't completely fill it out since I forget what level my main character is at. 60 something is all I can remember... I'll have to try to fill it out later.

Edit: Though maybe I'll just ballpark it since I don't think the exact level matters all that much...

Far Harbor is the only thing I'm interested in...and if that is the only plot extension DLC for Fallout4 color me incredibly disappointed.

I'm thinking about picking up the SP for ~$25 from GreenManGaming before the price increase. However, some of the DLC I just don't care about and I'm not sure the pass is worth even $25 to me.

Hell yes. All of that looks like a blast. Interestingly, Far Harbor is set in Maine. I'm assuming they chose Maine since Maine was a part of Massachusetts Commonwealth until 1820.

Welcome to Egret Tours Marina! Home to the B and P (Barf and Puke) Diner serving the finest Deathclaw Spit coffee in the Commonwealth! :p

AceGoober_FO4_0057.jpg

Was trying to work around the pier and even got rid of the boat but that wasn't working out too good so I eliminated 3/4 of the pier and built a new foundation.

AceGoober_FO4_0058.jpg

Completely rebuilt the diner making it roughly twice the size than it was before.

AceGoober_FO4_0059.jpg

Even added in a little bazaar type building for medical, armor, weapons, general trading and clothing.

AceGoober_FO4_0060.jpg

So far it is taken roughly 2 hours to get this put together. All that is left is finish decorating the settlers quarters.

Anyone know of a mod out there that "fixes" the damage estimate in VATS?

In particular, it doesn't seem to take enemy armor into account. Seems to be particularly bad with my current rifle crit build. I've encountered a bunch of times recently where it would estimate that I would take down an enemy in X headshots. So I'm like, "Ok, cool, I won't bother using a banked critical then." X+ headshots later and they're still standing with considerable HP left. WTF?!
