Fable III

I keep trying to tell myself that this is NOT an RPG. If you think of it as an RPG, the inventory system is lackluster. Think of the game as an action adventure game, and now you are probably looking at one of the best inventory systems in the genre. I think the way it is now is fantastic for console gamers. I do think it will be less well received when the PC version comes out.

how is it a good system when you can't ever really tell how many health potions you have?

That's the only problem with the new menu system, you can't see what items are in your inventory really. Only way i know how to is to go to the pawnbroker and cycle through it all.

Yea it bothered me. The rest seemed to be pretty good.

ehg, I guess it never bothered me. I can see where that would annoy some... but I don't care. I never bothered to check in Fable II, it was to much work.

pushing a button to see your inventory is too much work?

To be fair, the menu system in Fable II was a terribly clunky mess that was not fun to navigate.

Exactly. Fable II's menus pissed me off. On any other game, its not an issue. On Fable, anything pertaining to inventory was just frustrating trying to get around, so I didn't bother.

the menu system is awesome in my opinion. first game ive played where there are no menues to read at all.. all visual.

also for those of you dealing with the lag issue, install the game on your hard drive. it still slows at times but not nearly as much as it does with out it installed (the only place i can think of where it slows down when installed is in millfeilds). it seems lionhead got too ambitious with the size of the areas for the game to handle.

I get framerate dips everywhere, with the game installed. From Brightwall to otehr places, even when there's nothing super going on the screen, just a tree and some lighting can randomly cause slowdowns it seems..

it could be that when you in an area, instead of having things partially loaded except for the stuff in your immediate vision, everything is loaded at once, so when there is a big change (like when the shops close) the xbox has to process every citizen in the entire area stopping what they are doing and moving to their houses for "sleep". so even though your just looking at a wall with a chest, the xbox is processing the 50 people in the town all moving around.

it was probably was done with the good intention of trying to avoid having the player see things loading up in the distance when they are on the move. they just over estimated the Xbox's potential. they will probably release a patch to fix this soon (hopefully)

Just did the "Save the princess" quest , fucking hilarious!

After the quest make sure you go upstairs to, there's a note from Author to them all and it's hilarious as well.

Still a little salty about F2 not getting a PC release.
Waiting patiently for this one to hit GFWL.

this was an awesome coincidence.

i named my sword brinsingr from the Inheritance series (i.e. Eragon, Eldest and Brinsingr) and the last modification that happened to the sword was it lit on fire.

of corse you would only understand how awesome that is if you read the third book

Does anybody else feel this game is a step backwards from the second game? I thought the interaction with the townsfolk was done a lot better in the second one and you would entertain a whole group and not just one and hold their hand . Also where is the random statistics page damnit that tells me how many STDs I have or how far I have walked. I also seem to remember that when you threw the ball for your dog that he would go get it and not just stupidly stare at you. This game was by far release unpolished and should have been tweaked a little bit longer.

My dog does get the ball when I play fetch...

The stastics page is in the room with the MP options and things (push the down button while in the Santacury).

Yea I don't like the new system for that either. I liked the old system where you could pick what to do. Stats option was already covered by someone else.

Trying to finish Fable 2 before I start up Fable 3 (personal reasons) and holy fucking hell.. now I remember why I stopped playing it. Using an inventory item kicks you right out of the UI, then you have to pop back in if you want to use it again.

Buy a shit ton of XP potions from an alchemist, did you? Well good fucking luck sitting there for the next 15 minutes constantly flipping back n forth in their shitastic UI.

Mhm. Fable 2 has probably the worst inventory set up I have ever seen in a game. We've had RPG video games for what 30 years now? Why do people keep fucking up on inventory design!? And why the hell don't reviews beat down games with piss poor implementations of it? I don't recall many reviews saying much about it in Fable 2.

I hope so. This is the graphically slowest, AND glitchiest game I have EVER played on my 360. And worse than most of the crap EA shovelled down our throats for the past few years (Until they eventually fixed the glaring problems, natch. )

I hate waiting for game-fixing patches.

I'm already king.

I bought it yesterday.

wtf?

You can run through the game pretty fast. Chances are you will let a shit load of people die doing it.

Did you just FLY through the story missions and not explore or anything at all? Do any side missions?

I have 1d 2hrs on my game save and I am not king yet, just hit up Aurora.

I bought this game just before Xmas and I've had a hell of a time convincing myself to sit down and play it. The game starts kind of slow and the motion blur to the visuals annoys the hell out of me.

I didn't like it. I couldnt stand the lack of rpg stuff this time around. I can understand why they wanted to back off of that,I just felt the 2nd one balanced it better.

Just finished. Boring is the only word I can think of. The last third of the game where you are King are PAINFUL in how slow and boring they make it. I give it a thumbs down.

Yeah it is slow and boring. Until they magically zip you ahead through time more than 100 days before you finish making the necessary gold. Nice no warning on that one, almost all of my people died

i thought the game was incredibly short, what bothers me is you have a world which is kinda consistent and in the timeline of what 500+ yeas there are NONE of the same fucking landmarks other then that stupid tower out in the middle of the ocean.

and oh bowerstone square looks the same

Most of the "content" in the game was in side missions people were supposed to do to earn money to save the kingdom

in my game i have plenty of cash, pleeeeenty so everyone lived, i owned Albion and proceeded to whip anything evils ass

game was cake

That happened to me the first time. I had a bunch of money ready to go in my characters personal account and got fucked.

I did that the second time. Fist time I pretty much ran through the main story and it did not go well. Second time I took my time and did great.
