im i the only one that is getting nuthin but REALLY low pointers. Everyone of my systems have only been getting 116 pointers or less. Am i just unlucky?

My 2 best rigs got quite a few of those 1000+ units back to back, then have been working on the low point units ever since.

yep....same here...i was about to be a steady 1000+ppd and now im lucky for a 600ppd

I guess we're all in the same boat. All I've got on my faster machines is 56 and 116'ers with my slower machines all working on 404 pointers.

 
Yep. I've gotten a lot of small crap lately too.

This past month has been pretty brutal. I would say I'm easily down 2500ppd if not more. Its been nothing but downhill since QMD's went away and then replaced by those 404 point jobbers that seem to take forever. Now its the itty-bitty WU's from hell that aren't worth crap.

Oh well, you gotta remember its not about the points, the science is whats important*.

ive gotten alot of the smaller workunits. Have a couple boxen with the 404 pointers, but they fold damn slow for the points.

I had one WU on my P4 2.8 at work that was only doing about 54 PPD I believe. That is unacceptable to me since it's only about half of what that machine should be able to do. The client was setup fine and SSE was on. I don't remember what protein it was, but it took a long time to crunch it.

After that it got hold of an Amber core and it chewed through it at about 104 PPD which is a lot closer to normal. However, this machine should have no trouble pumping out 110+ PPD. With just normal WU's I was averating 150 PPD before. My XP-m@2.5 has been feeling the slowness also. It's only been doing about 150 PPD while it would normally do 175 PPD on regular Gromacs. On Ambers it usually runs around 200 PPD.

Basically, something seems to be up with the WU's scoring. I've gotten some really crappy ones that just do not add up right. Considering I have one machine that is the benchmark machine, I should be able to get the points the benchmark machine puts out. This just isn't the case.

i remember when WU's were at the minimum of 5 points and the max of around 50.

we also had to walk to turn on our boxen, up hill both ways in 6 feet of snow and 100 degree heat...AT THE SAME TIME!!!
 
I got a crap load of the 2306 protiens already. Gonna have to work through them to get back to the good stuff.

I feel ya. Nothing but 56 and 116pt'ers for about 5 days now.

It's a conspiracy. Someone at ocau has rigged the servers to only give the [H]orde the little guys while they spit out the 364pt wus every 20hrs :D j/k......but it has taken a toll on our ppd...not to mention the loss of over 100 cpus in the last week.....and steadily declining :(
 
yeah, i just can't get the same amount of point output either.Could be that I have a couple of PCs not running full-time anymore though.
 
Taking a look at the project summary: http://fah-web.stanford.edu/psummary.html, it seems that there are a ton of assignment servers handing out the various Gromacs in 116 and 56 point varieties. One thing to remember, Folding by nature goes back to the server that you most recently turned a WU in on. So if you've been doing tons of 56 pointers, then you'll be getting them as long as that server has them and is handing them out.

Its not just [H]. All 6 of my clients are stuck on these things as well.
 
Yep it sucks, there really aren't any good bonus units right now. Stanford needs to bring back some of the WU's that take up more than like 10megs of ram so that the faster machines can be put to better use.

 
On my main rig, after a bunch of <500 pointers, I have gotten 5 56 pointers or so in a row...which is annoying, they finish fast, but aren't many points. My P4 rig is chugging along gbgromacs so far...it's gotten like 3 of them. But yeah, I've been getting low pointers too.

Hey...leave my granddaddy out this :p if you want to know what happened me...i will tell you...I first got a computer and found what is know as the "INTERNET" and one day i came across this site called "[H]ardocp" And one day i started hanging with a bunch of troublemakers you call themselves "The [H]orde".... :p



 
So how come our points are dropping steadily while OCAUs held steady until the last day or so?
 
the one thing I noticed, other than the low ppd units, is that our number of active users appears to be dropping somewhat over the last couple of weeks. We were around 1600 active users about a month ago, and now we're around 1500 active users.

Yeah, I am getting a lot of low PPD units, so the solution is to listen to a bunch of depressing 80s music!!

I had just hit noble.. and along come things little blighters... I think I'll be a Falxman until the points pick up again (or until I borg a few more boxen...)
